I've to build a new team later, already have IF Andre, IF Slimani hopefully will be cheap, plus there's bound to be a winger from an obscure nation in the Portuguese league, or a small club with a random gold player in that league as well.

Cape Verde Islands obscure enough TWS  ;D :D

Absolutely perfect. Nation and club with not much else to use! Thanks.

Now I have 11k to get the other 10 players :D
In this market, that is doable, however depends on the league :D.

10 and a half K later (including RM-RW and LW-LF cards), 1 9/10 chem B team based around that 22k star signing :D

I do expect it to be defensively light as it is but there's plenty of scope for improvement/variation.
Very interested in Junuzovich (900c, :D). Amazing silver on 13, one of my favourite players on there. Looking at his card stats alone, it's really hard to see where he gets that lowish ovr.
Huge lump up front, curious how he'll go, got some interesting stats given his size.
Raul Garcia has some quality stats too, weird WR for a CAM but that's kinda what drew me to him.
Would like to get Mustafi for that extra link across the back line but for now, his price would hold back completion.

My new team. At the moment though, have NIF Slimani. Not overpaying for his IF.
Only game so far was a 6-0 win. Heldon (thanks BB!), two for Slimani and a late burst of three goals in the last 15 minutes from Markovic gave me the win. Slimani scored a header that absolutely rocketed in from a corner. A bullet.
The midfield seemed excellent. IF Andre Andre set up two and seemed rather good. Carvalho sat and dominated. Seems a decent team.

nice TWS, good old Meireles   ;D

decided to change the Dutch team and removed IF De jong and Leroy Fer. Changed to players I like IRL: Kramer (also bought Locadia in case I don't like him IG)and Toornstra. For balance purposes switched Ziyech for Bazoer. So it now looks like this:

BB with his usual immense collection  8)

So a squad review after only 4 games makes perfect sense eh, no harm ever came from jumping to conclusions.

As alluded to earlier, I really enjoyed that 4321 last night, played some excellent stuff with them and for the 1st time on 16, felt like I had plenty of goal threat. It's a very fun and interesting team to use.

Up front. Not much in the way of surprise from Sam and Nolito, I'm sure you're all familiar with the sort of thing they offer.
Odd things with them-
How Sam is only 77 I've no idea. Faster than a speeding bullet, agile enough to jump buildings in a single bound, shot like a train and strong enough not to fall over when a defender breathes on him.
Why on Earth is Nolito a hideous non rare? A jolly good player IRL, by far the best player on Celta's UT team and worth every point of his 82 rating on in game stats. Celta even have 2 77 rated rare players. Makes no sense.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. There are strikers who are bigger and stronger. There are strikers who are quicker, strikers who are trickier on the dribble, some who have more powerful shots, more incisive short passing, more clinical finishing. I'm not sure there are strikers with more name. Anyway, if you're after someone who can tick every single one of those boxes in a jack of all trades/master of none type fashion, there's big old Choupo here.
I really liked him, he seems proper useful, perfect lone striker really. Got a couple goals on his weak foot too. He's 6'3" with 85 dribbling (balance is not great) and apparently 77 in every other stat worth mentioning. I kind of expected him to be a bit stronger but you can't really quibble on a cheap as chips beanpole with the range of abilities he has. I think I'm gonna become quite a fan of this chap.

Midfield is proper interesting.
The blend is really weird but it kinda works. Defensively, it's a bit ropey but can sort of do a job a lot of the time. In comparison to the CM chaos of 451,the WRs worked exactly as you'd expect. Thiago, M/M, hovers in the middle of the pitch, roams in either direction to some degree. Junuzovich, H/H, covers the entire right side. Raul Garcia, M/H, works back and doesn't drift forward too much.
The problem is that none of them are much cop at actually defending. Juno will pester like a good'n but lacks the physicality to really dominate attackers, Raul will crush anyone that comes near him but is a bit slow and cumbersome so he can be difficult to manoeuvre into position, Thiago- the one most ideally placed to shield the back 4- struggles with a strong breeze.
But still, I like what they do and in combination, they don't do too bad. If Raul Garcia was in the centre with his 81 strength, it'd work better.
In possession tho, wowzers!
Garcia will not be pushed off the ball. At all. He's very tidy on it too so can turn into space nice and smoothly, not that he needs to that much, he has 87 short passing and it really shows. He works a bit like a hinge on that side, you give the ball to him and he'll pass it wherever it needs to go. Plus he can shoot if he's even remotely near the goal.
Thiago, the star signing, is such a luxury player, lol. He's as light as a feather on the ball as he is off it, which got me into trouble a bit because his control and dribbling is so awesome, I took a lot of liberties with him. On top of that, 88 short passing no less, so you can turn a midfielder with consummate ease, breeze past a couple defenders and thread a perfect little ball through to one of the front 3 in world class style. Breaking forward with him from that deep role opens up so much in the way of options.
Junuzovich is AMAZING! He was the most influential player in 2 or 3 of those 4 games, match rating wise. That 79 ovr he has is just total nonsense. He's got a bit about him in the tackle, even if he's not that great at pushing people around. Passing and shooting are both very decent indeed. On the ball he's a wizard, that 90 balance is a magic number. AND he has 92 on free kicks, 92! For a bargain 900c, with that ridiculous 79 ovr, he's from another planet. Insta-UT16 favourite.
Taken together, because they play quite compact across the middle and all have different WRs pushing them around, I was getting such good combinations out of them. With 3 forwards ahead of them, as soon as the ball went into the feet of one of them and I worked an angle for a ball forward or sideways, things just flowed together and defences split apart. They're basically better than I am.

Defence... Meh. Average all round. Needs some work because they do get exposed.
The formation does need width and the full backs are quite bland on the ball, meant I was over reliant on playing through the middle and got caught with it there at times, which is big problem stuff. Bundesliga could really use an influx of excellent, cheap right backs. BBVA is well served at LB.
CBs aren't too bad, they do an ok job most of the time.
Goalkeeper was alright.

good review and agree on Nolito, always under-estimated and thus hardly used.

I think you are brave with that midfield. You are also missing height

Raul Garcia is actually 6 foot with 88 heading. Jumping only in the 70s or so but still, another reason he'd be better suited to the middle, he does win headers that come his way. The lanky Choupo was a great goal kick recipient too. But on the right side of midfield and at CB, yeah, not great. CBs will both be replaced as coins come in tho, that'll tighten things up. More fun to try and outscore the opposition anyway  ;D

Good read Cuz - as always eloquent in your ways. :D

Nolito - couldn't stand the NR card, so bought the IF when we had some coins. He is a favourite and will probably never sell that card. Even used him last night in a 433-5 at LW - it was a team geared around passing & he was a no-brainer there.

Back to the non-rare cards ... why the heck are they SO bland. Even the purple cards are hideous. A simple black stripe across the name would've been a little easier on the eye. Not sounding elitist or pro-rare cards, but a full NR team looks terrible.

Strange one Kiwi. Anything in particular you couldn't stand about him? He made an instant good impression on me, think he scored the teams 1st goal and turned into my main weapon in that game.
Would like him more if he were rare...

Same thing occurred to me tho, why make them so bland? Even if they just kept the top corner indents of the rare cards it'd be something. Just makes NRs look like **** players.
Mind you, that did tempt me to make a whole team of them...

...edit. Quick look on FUThead and I can confirm, I will make a NR hybrid at some point.
It'll look crap, it'll actually be pretty good...  8) ;D

So, this was the 'passing team'

Tried hard to keep possession but one of gotcha's I find with wanting fluid passing, is that you're trying too hard for the perfect goal. As a result you're winning games 1-0, 2-0 ... rarely are there 4-goal games. That being said - we did win against an opponent with a guest last night - leading 4-0 at HT. But, that's mostly because they were way too individualistic in their game play. Typical stuff.

Did use a few too many squad fitness cards with these guys, so built a team after games were played. Tried to replicate something along those lines - but a cheaper team :D. Boarded the Andre Andre hype train and got him cheap.

Had the CB's and the Hulk so bought the rest. Will see how this pans out.

Oh sorry ... nothing wrong with the card - simply stating they look horrendous.

This was the first full team I built in '16:

Really think the players are impressive in there. 5x 4* skills / Alcacer has 85 finishing & 86 positioning / Torres (CAM) has 84 short passing / Arnold has 86 shot power & 84 long shots / Trochowski is short but a good all-rounder / wide players cut in on strong feet. Not the strongest backline, but they're all big & pacey. On paper, it should do well.

But ... it looks HORRIBLE on screen! Sad.
