Fifa 16 gripes
« on: November 19, 2015, 12:44:32 am »
ok so not going to totally moan as i do still think this is best fifa in ages.  But there are certain things which drive me up the wall on a fairly frequent basis.  So i thought id list them here.   Maybe not major things such as high pressure or pace, but just the stupid little things.   If nothing else i hope this will be quite the****utic for me.  Here are some of mine.

Offsides preventing counter attacks - Mildly infuriating, when your counter attack is stopped dead in its tracks for an offside player who was never remotely close to receiving the ball.

Keepers being confined to 6 yard box (excluding corners) - Im not sure if this particularly affects deflected shots but why on earth wont the keepers moved 2 or 3 yards to prevent a corner?  literally glued to spot and just watch ball run out of play.

Crosses!! - They've killed crosses.  Every time i try to put a ball into box, 90% of time it goes straight to keeper.  The other 10% of time its a 50/50 between keeper/striker and the keeper punches clear.  What have they done here.  Surely there is a happy medium?

Corners - Similar to the above and personally not as much  of a bugbear for me.  But the chances of delivering a succesful corner seem rather slim.  Unless if you ping it to edge of box in which case you will be granted acres of space (usually happens against me as opposed to me exploiting it).

ok that will do me for now.  I'm pretty sure there are countless others as well but those are the ones that spring to mind now.   I will report back with more as i encounter or when i'm reminded of them  >:(

Crosses.. yup same.  Get done on them all the time.  Myself.. can't cross a road..

Corners.. yup same.  Although am getting closer to scoring one from outside the box.

My other one is people who set their GK as set piece taker, and then I have to wait while they change it, every single time.

I have to admit i dont concede many from crosses either.  But thats not the point, theres nothing wrong with a nice early ball into the box and a thumping header into the net to follow.  Hardly ever happens now.

Yeah i get the goalie set piece one.  I always hope that the person wont notice and i can capitalise on it.

Oh I've another to add:

First half pausing - As someone who will generally only ever make a sub if someone is injured, people who for any reason pause during the first half are just foul individuals.   If you pause twice during a game then clearly there is something very wrong with you.

True...  but don't forget triple pausing is almost the only weapon we have against the high pressure douche bags, now that the triple replay has bitten the dust.

They don't set it hop it is if you create a new squad from scratch the keeper is set a default for everything unless you change it

Early crosses are your friend Eric 25 yards out on the wing hit the early cross button and double tap x and a great ball to back post you shall deliver :)

Corners i take them in clubs all the time don't alter anything on set up as you hit it push out from goal and more times than not it will get to your player

I think it automatically assigns everything to the first player you put into a blank squad. Often happens to me when building squads. You just have to remove the player from the squad and put him straight back in again.
Crosses, i am getting used to a bit more. I guess it depends on your crossing settings. I use semi, and if you kind of put more power than you would have it previous years and kind of aim away from the keeper you can get a good header a bit more often. Longer crosses, as opposed to ones played to the centre of the area seem to work better.  Keepers swallow those everytime. Thankfully we don't have that stupid back post, across the keeper nonsense from 14 though.
And corners, tonight i scored two headers in three games, with Eculue Manga and Howedes. I kind of aim for the back post, kind of between penalty spot and 6 yard box, and put more power than previous games, 4 and a little bars. Also holding the opposite direction to the flight of the ball makes it dip whilst travelling quite fast. Often though just aim for a tall player, making sure to not put it close to the keeper. Calling someone to come short and chucking it near post into a gap they have left chasing your player can work.

My main gripe is Mzizi! Agree about the pointless offsides and dodgy playing of the advantage that happens this year.

It was a glitch - there was something about this being fixed in a patch.

Agree with your comments Eric - especially the crossing bit. Needs some serious skill games to improve them :D

But ... to prove it, just bought SIF Slimani (1.88m tall, 90 jumping & 97 heading acc) - put Gaitan on the left & Candreva on the right (86/90 crossing respectively). Let's see if that helps :D

I mean to cross. I even build teams with a bit of crossing in mind sometimes. I still never really cross.

Corners, as been said. I do all those things really, I like to mix up what I do in each game.
This constant availability is kind of silly tho.

Pausing in the 1st half does annoy me.

Refs inconsistency doesn't. I appreciate when it goes in my favour. Got a pen for a shoulder to shoulder yesterday, a couple min later I barged his fwd off the ball and got away scott free :D
Shoulder to shoulder shouldn't be a pen tho, that is annoying. Basically rewards feeble attackers for being feeble. Kind of tallies in with that REALLY irritating dribbledribbledribbledribble tactic, once they get in the box it should be fairly easy to crowd them off the ball.
Also connected to dribbling is stopping distance or MOMENTUM. Defenders with the braking distance of a canal barge. Sprint along side and the attacker changes direction, sure you need to recover but sometimes....
Connected to that, why is my 2nd defender seemingly taking his movement cue from his teammate rather than the opponent? 'I'm just here for moral support, mate'.

Not noticed offside for a guy not involved in the play, mainly because if I choose a forward pass and I have a guy in an offside position, it always decides to pass to him instead...
Which links to my joint no.1 biggest gripe, pass to the player I chose, not the one you think I chose! Maybe I should try some alteration on pass assist...

Other no.1, really GRRRR, player switching. Does it just not cycle between nearby players anymore? So many times it randomly decides to only cycle between people goalside when I want someone who's standing around behind the ball, not chasing, or vice versa. I'll never get to grips with right stick switching. I WILL end up wearing out my L1 button*.

*yep, still on custom PES control layout

It is, but that is a great strike mate - movement on the ball makes it look even better!

Yeah - this is very frustrating! Even in co-op, it still has it's own screwed-up AI kicking in. Just daft.

This is another biggie ... but for other reasons - later in the game. With the 'player selection icon' now fading to match their fitness level, in co-op it's nigh impossible to see who you have selected. As you say, the randomness around selection is compounded when 2 people are attempting it, whilst your opponent is dribbling with pace. We're constantly dragging players out of their structure/formation ... it's manic defending at the end of the game!

Again - co-op has a massive negative with stamina when 2 players are having their fitness depleted simultaneously.
