crap game. Trying to solve a couple of SBC, using concept players to sort out which one I need. Only to find out when I finally got them that the calculation of chemistry was not correct. WTF? Idiotic bastards

That's something that happened last year as well. The concept player show chemistry as if they already have the one loyalty bonus chem, which if you buy them, they don't have. Very annoying.

I played 12 games yesterday, winning 8 and losing 4. The defeats were on penalties, or by one goal, whereas I was winning by scoring stupid amounts like 9, 7 and 6. Built two teams, one 433(5) and one 4231(2). Top scorer so far is Ilicic from false 9, with 9 goals (and 8 assists) from 6 games.

The games were quite fun, but give it two weeks when weekend league starts and people start to have some sort of clue what's going on in game, plus the game is on full release and the button delay and lag inevitably starts, then I don't know what'll happen. There's already signs that diagonal cross pitch runs are very difficult to stop if done right. Add any sort of problems with lag or delay into player switching and it would become a pacey mess. That's my biggest concern so far.

Firstly, @BB ... yep, still nothing on the DLC front. Why am I not surprised!?!?

Played FUT last night for the first time. Now, I didn't even end up using 1 hour of 10-hour 'whatever-you-call-that' allowance. So, not really invested that much in game play at this stage. So, went into the daily tournament - best jump straight in there.

Wow, just WOW! After 22 min it was 2-3 ... after 70 minutes I quit at 3-7. His loanee Aubamatwat running rampant. And yes, rampant = pace, pure pace. You can see a mile away - striker starts to make a run, no matter how I change/flick I cannot get the CB in time and the most perfectly-weighted through ball from his non-rare whomever = another goal. It was laughable. Together with the player getting the ball back continuously ... didn't have a hope.

So ... went to squad battles and it was a bit better. For me the game play is a big change to '17 - over time I think these will be good. But, like you and others have said - the exploits will come. And when those do, I don't think I'll have the will power to play online.

The blind 180 degree instant passes are plain stupid. Played a few games last night. Two 3-0 wins and a 3-0 defeat. The loss though was a glimpse into the future. The opponent was playing either 41212(2) or 4312. Had everyone on stay back apart from the front three and if he got the ball, just smashed it blindly forwards. Then one two and through ball with the two strikers. Player switching was just about good enough to keep up (but will it be once the weekend league starts?). The problem was that eventually a ball will just go straight through a defender or a tackle will just bounce back to him and leave you exposed. Or even worse your defender does the auto lunge animation (unfortunately still happens) which takes the defender out the game and allows a 90 pace striker a clear run. The guy did it every time without fail. Two of the goals came from tackles going straight back to him, and one was a ridiculous header from a corner that my keeper made a joke attempt at saving.

Have been enjoying absolutely destroying people that are still trying to defend as though they are playing FIFA 17. Luckily for me, I am still defending actually the same way as I've always done, but I still have me reservations about how bad the game could go once the cheap tactics are known.

Decided to play Seasons last night - know it's not the best to validate/confirm/judge the quality of opposition. Won the D10 title after the 4/5 wins (or whatever is required) with 1 game quitting due to the idiot pausing twice before kick-off. Don't get it, but moved along swiftly.

What I am finding interesting is that people obviously have their coin boosts, so ain't quitting. Bit tedious at times as you can see them getting plenty frustrated.

One thing I did notice ... with loanee Aubamatwat in abundance, who sits out on the left wing spot at kick-off - pass back to CAM, driven pass wide and away the hare goes ... ! Conceded twice last night against this one twat who must've watched some YT-er already creating these 'cheats'. Doesn't take long.

It's the same as ever, the first couple of days all is good, quite fun, as neither you or your opponent has a clue what they're doing. Then the usual crappy Premier League pace teams start turning up, the same constantly spammed crap over and over again. Driven pass forward as quickly as possible to pacey striker, lay it off backwards and forwards to LF/RF, spam through ball and eventually you are through on goal. Then driven shot or cutback. If that doesn't work then just wait to be tackled and either get the ball straight back or just run straight through the defender and the ball just bounces perfectly to keep on running. The amount of joke goals seems even higher than usual.

Probably the same as I was saying last year at this time; so many good improvements, but the same idiotic, bad programmed nonsense a second away from happening at all times.

Penalties where a player no where near the ball you are not even controlling apparently gives away a penalty as the ball is being cleared. Yep, had that happen twice. Opponent aimlessly smashes a lob through ball from their own half, only for your keeper for no reason at all to sprint out his area, under the bouncing ball AND keep going even after you opponent gets the ball a few seconds later. Yep, had that in my final game of the night. (luckily I was 4-0 up at the time and IF Locadia ended up scoring five past his Musa led Fifa 17 team).

There's so much dodgy stuff that EA won't fix no doubt but will break more or change stuff that doesn't need changing with an inevitable patch. OTW tomorrow so no doubt all the people buying the standard version will kill the servers and we can throw that into the mix as well!

Well, next weekend is going to be fun!

Managed to win the tournament with 4-3, 2-1, 4-0 (30 minutes rq) and 4-0 (42 minutes rq). The final was against a full loan team of the highest rated (fastest) players in the game. All the guy tried to do was run with Hazard, Ronaldo or Aubameyang. Probably will be the easiest final I'll have on Fifa 18, IF Locadia ending with a hat trick.
My best player so far is without a doubt IF Locadia. Easily one of the best strikers I've ever used. After 3 goals in his first 6 games, the next 7 have seen him score, 5,2,4,2,1,3 and 4 goals. And a few of those have been first half rage quits. Also has 7 assists. So currently 24 goals in 13 games!

Played my first game in seasons and he scored all the goals in a 4-0 win. His shot power is just silly. If you smash it, a lot of the times the keepers can't handle it and the ball just goes in anyway. Apparently has the highest shot power in the game. Strong, and can hold the ball up. Probably the perfect striker for the current game engine, or at least the cheapest and most overlooked! Been using him at striker in a 4231(2), with Wesley Sneijder behind him at CAM.

Played a few offline games to complete all the starter objectives. Don't like it. The usual cheating, slider influence AI nonsense. The AI is untouchable and is 3-0 up within 15 minutes, then you destroy it the rest of the game, the keeper turns into god, you get back to 3-2, when suddenly you can just walk through with ease. Then the sliders go into overdrive, it's impossible to do anything, you twice get clean through, only to twice get hacked down from behind and instead of a red, it's not even a foul. Probably just a ploy to have less people playing each other on their servers and make weekend league smoother without spending a penny on new servers. Won't be playing against the communities awful teams with offline sliders messing with things even more than online. Rather kill myself.

Gents,

Must say despite the usual BS EA throw at us year in year out, i'm enjoying this iteration of FUT more than any before.  Yes the usual 'bugs' are there but i'm so long in the tooth with FUT i'm just shrugging them off and have the 'on to the next' attitude.  I find that when you get it right, it feels much more rewarding.

Try as I may, I cant qualify for the WL.  Lost several finals after cruising through the earlier rounds.  Not building a 78 squad for the one starting tomorrow, so the final attempt will come in the one on Wednesday.  Squad battles hasn't grabbed me just yet.  Looking at twitter & twitch it's the in thing to do so far this FUT.  Suppose its free coins, but other than practising the new defending against legendary AI, its no good prep for WL. Good addition though.

Been reasonably good with pack luck thus far.  The best being IF Mertens.  Selling him on with some other decent pulls has given me this squad

All players are OP.  Bakayoko and Paulinho are a great partnership.  Defence is as solid as it can be.  Likewise with Navas.  Firmino scores great goals and has a good engine on him.  In fact stamina is good throughout.
Jesus....... well JESUS.  Great upgrade for him and has started well as my new addition.
POTM Mane. Given that I already had regular Mane for 35k, it was a bit sore giving him up as he went up to 135k, plus he was on 55 goals in 54 games, but the stats looked too good for me to pass up.  Hasn't fired up like his regular yet but he now has plenty of time to catch up.

Suarez.  God like.  Plays better than his TOTY card from 17.  Slower pace isnt an issue as his positioning is on point.  Still deceptively quick though.  Love this card.

I have a backup Serie A squad for fitness rotation, but will look to upgrade as soon as I can generate more coins.  Not intending to spend any more ££.

Going to be very selective of the SBC's this year too.  Wasted far to much last year on pointless ones

Hope you are all finding the game a slightly less frustrating experience

FIFA18 would mark my return to FUT. Last year I only played ProClubs in the end. By far the most enjoyable mode, playing with your buddies. ;D

Decided to open some packs with money and I had some great pulls. From Robben to Jesus, Baily (2x), Steerling, Sane, etc. Decided to go Bundes and BPL. Bought IF Aranguz (Godly!) and did strenghten the team over the week to this:

Back to 41212. Team plays well, Werner and Origi are the stars up front. added Timo Werner late but he scored already 30 goals in 23 games. But the real star is the little Chilean. Passing and shooting are amazing, combined with loads of stamina.  Defence is solid and Tolisso in front of them is bridging most gaps.

The BPL team has evolved to this:

Some pulls but I did buy OTW Siggy. Still struggling a bit with the RM and LM positions. Have tried different players but until now Son and Walcott have given me the most return on investment. The star of the team is the pulled non rare Berahino. With 27 goals in 26 matches he has proven to be incredible. I am not sure about Gieyu. He is small but his stamina and standing tackle are great.

Some thoughts on this years FIFA:
- defending is a pain
- placed shot is OP, especially coming into the box with a ankle from the right or left, 99% a goal. Hence, 433 is a great formation to play with
- what happened with the managers? No one from the eredivisie and Ancelotti is a non rare SILVER....WTF?
- squad battles is a nice add on but as TWS stated the sliders/scripting is woeful

I am building a Liga NOS 422 (with IF Brahimin) and a 422 eredivisie (with IF locadia), just to try it out

ProClubs is still fun but is experiencing the same BS that happens in individual games.

All in all is this version not really worse or better than teh previous ones, and that makes you wonder. I have the feeling that they actually don't change that much but it is a lot of blablabla.

I've not played as much FUT as I usually did. Played nearly as many Pro Clubs games as I have on Ultimate Team.

My IF count is already up to 9! Locadia is still at two goals per game, and Danilo Pereira has been solid. Plus his value has more than doubled since I picked him up.
Waiting on TOTW in a couple of hours to decide what teams to use in weekend league (but really not looking forward to that at all really)!

At the moment using my Locadia team in Division 10. Two wins and a loss to a seriously good player. In the dkt, I'm using a pretty weird team just to get loyalty for the two SBCs that need it. Seriously dodgy defense of Ismaily, Ogbonna, Fonte and Jantschke with Adrian in goal. The 43 on Fonte and 64 pace on Jantschke are a challenge! Won the only game that team has played. But the way I see it is if I can manage to defend well with them, it'll help me in the long run, and nothing to lose having already won a dkt.

Even I played some matches last night  ;D

A bit rusty start though, made two bronze teams on full chem, mostly for trying different kind of players, used Ojo as targetman in a 433-4, with good old Mjelde and Fellah steaming up from midfield; easy goals, one goes deep, other plays ball to Ojo, Ojo battles with defenders and holds on to the ball and passes the ball to the deep running midfielder and he rolls it in one of the corners. Sadly it was about the only way I could score goals. The other team had 3 great finishers ( like Shomurodov) on top but unlike the stats suggested I couldn't for the life of me curl those shots in from around the box, something I used to be very good at...:'( , used 5-star skiller Flores on the wing, since when did they nerve the effect from skillmoves so much? He was still fun to use but much less effective, and I don't have a clue what the best way is to duel on the wing with defenders, so that is work in progress for me, also crossing needs work. I liked the pace off r1+square, that'll help great when I start playing better players.

Defending is a pain for me, 1 on 1 is no problem but when they start passing the ball between them most of my defenders go MIA, I can't seem to switch fast enough, when you switch defenders keep running in the direction they were going, and using l2+R2 doesn't help all the time cancelling their action.

I was realy lucky playing against bad players, if they were as handy as me in finishing shots I would have lost all my games, now I won matches with 4 goals out 5 shots against 2 goals out 20, I won div 10 nevertheless, I'm really struggeling after my 4 year brake and I need much much more practise.
In need of a new goal!!
