Just put this in the FUT 19 Beta forum  ;D

Ok, like most people here I have played the FIFA franchise all the way back to the beginning, through multiple console variants and finally on XBOX ONE X and FUT since 2012.  I;m 40+ so this is not some kid sparking one off.

All previous iterations of this game have had their merits, but none grabbed me like FUT.  Almost to an addiction point.

FUT 18 was the turning point.  The amount of unexplainable things that went on in most games drove me to the point of controller smashing, rage, frustration and despair.  Not a good thing for a video game.  What disappointed me most about 18 was that when playing the beta and pre patch 1, I thought the game had made a massive jump forward in terms of realism.  Defending had been upgraded and separated those men from boys.... problem was, the boys complained, and complained, and complained and we got patch 1.  Game changer.  Bringing back pretty much everything back from 17 with a shiny new look.  Disappointing.

Towards the end of 18, I have a 94 rated team (probably the best I've ever had in any FUT), but still do not enjoy playing it.  Every game mode plays differently.  Every match with a different feel.  Hats off to the pros for doing what they do, knocking up 40 wins every weekend.  Guess their connections must be ace

Anyways, going into 19 was the least I have looked forward to ever playing FUT.  I was surprised to get the invite for the beta, and my interest perked up.  Downloaded, installed, and away we go.  I'm 8 days into the beta, and must say, with total devastation, EA has ruined what good aspects to the gameplay there was and managed to make all the things which were bad, worse.

I love football, but even I, who has not played PES since PS2 days, even resorted to downloading the 19 demo.  Typically, it was crap, but better than FUT19.  That takes a lot for me to say....

I hope that EA sees this and can take some action.  The game is just no fun at all.

Major issues -
Speed is far too slow - Imagine this when we have servers which are being massively loaded
First touch - 9 times out of 10 the ball bounces a good 10-15 feet away from the player.  Totally unrealistic
Goal Kicks - Very little or no control using the stick.  Wasn't broken in 18, didn't need touching
Timed Shooting - For me, although billed as a new feature, I think its something that has always been there, just not visible, and now you can see why you might hit the post from 3 yards with an open net.  Pointless feature
Passing - What have you done EA ??? Feels totally random who the ball goes to and generally not in the direction you are pointing the stick.  Number of times a man in acres of space out wide.  A tidy strong pass will see him in, but no, it picks out the striker whos marked by 3 defenders and because it has been hit strong, the first touch kicks in and sends the opposition off on a counter attack.

Other issues -
Pack animation - No idea who though that sticking a massive Ultimate Team behind the card was a good idea.  Looks very budget.  No feel of excitement
Card design - 18 was lazy from 17.  19 are just bland.  Golds look like bronzes
Dealing with cards - Wasn't broke, didn't need fixing
Sorting cards - no sort from low to high (in the beta anyways).  If not back in, queue the endless page scrolls to get to your untradeables
Players not playing to their stats - I have Salah and Mane.  Salah, one of the quickest players IRL and quicker than Mane in game, sets off like a 3 legged tortoise

There are other things which others, I'm sure have mentioned.  Maybes next year, get more opinionated guys, who play this game day in day out for some advice because whomever has said this is good shouldn't be playing video games let alone giving advice on it

The state of this game EA..... you should be ashamed

PS.  Cant wait to see what the pro's make of this

Yup. Just fut online.  Everything bad in 18 is in with a few more bad thrown in for a laugh. Add in the usual servers at max every day and you'll not find a worse gaming experience anywhere.

Pace is king. Mad, unexplainable 'momentum' swings during games, kick off goals and wonder keepers all bring the fun to the game  ;D

Had a random draft token in my club, which I decided to give a go with on Wednesday for my first games online in a very long time. First game, completely in control, after going 1-0 up after a few minutes but just couldn't score again. Typically concede after 70 odd minutes but score again straight away and win 2-1.
Second match is the last match I will play on Fifa 18. Was winning 2-1 in the 90th minute. The 2 added minutes went on for ages. Eventually in make a two yard pas straight to my full back who randomly slide tackles without mr pressing anything so that he completely misses the ball. From that my keeper ends up diving out the way of a soft header that my daughter would have saved. End up losing on penalties after my keepers arms glitch backwards to let the winning penalty in. That's me done and with what has been written previous and what I have heard elsewhere, that could be me done with Fifa for a very long time. Game is an utter joke.
Having way more fun on Fortnite and on my 8th season of an FM18 save which are both way more fun than FIFA. That could be me done.

Well, well ... thought this place had died completely! My apologies for only popping my head in until now.

@Simmo ... I did find your post interesting, as of course Kurt has ripped into this in a big way - pretty sure most would have seen his video/(s) by now.

@TWS ... "Game is an utter joke". Indeed & truer words have never been spoken!!!

As much as I am wholeheartedly addicted to FUT, this weekend did it for me. On Saturday I 'had an incident' ... bunch of things were going wrong, but the final straw was a simple throw-in where I flicked to Gullit 15m in with no-one around him. As I hit the A button, it changed me to Ronaldinho who had a player marking him ... and 4/5 passes later - me desperately trying to change players - my opponent scores. I lost it ... !

So, I closed the game, uninstalled it, cancelled my '19 pre-order, removed my credit card details, and then today decided not to renew my EA Access. I was going to test '19 with the early access, but decided against that. Need to kick this habit once & for all.

Now, I do spend big on this game - something that I've done for many years as I literally don't have any other vices. EA has done a superb job, especially reading the cr@p reviews on '19 as well, to make sure I keep my money & cards in my wallet. Thank you very much EA!

That is harsh Kiwi!

I still have it in pre-order. Will play pro clubs with the lads and will hardly touch any other mode. I have played FIFA19 on the GamesCom in Cologne. Although only 3 matches you instantly saw the gameflaws. The a.i. of the keeper is a compleye joke, heading was pretty OP. But that was also due to the complete stupid keepers. Passing was difficult which is not so bad. I actually like it that you cannot give an accurate pass while not in passing position.

Anyway, I am looking forward to RDR2 and later BFV..

But miss the old days....

Yeah Glad ... I agree that there are some things that should not be easy! I played the PES demo and struggled and barely got a shot on target in the first few games - which I enjoyed actually! The constant 10+ goals/game in FUT, is stupendous! Unfortunately PES has a huge gap to fill, to be able to compete with FIFA.

Also, on this side of the planet the player base on Xbox is dwindling. Sure, the end of '18 makes it worse, but even in the first few months of the Weekend League, I was playing an opponent 3 times/weekend - easily. If there were numbers like in Europe/US, then I'd consider an RTG-type process, spending no FP & enjoying that more.

I had considered switching to PS as the reports are 4:1 over Xbox, but I just can't justify spending more money with EA ...

Just for reference, I have a full icon team (9/11 are Primes), plenty high-rated/value TOTS, pulled TOTY DDG who was 100-odd games short of 2,000 appearances, pulled "mid" Rio Ferdinand who played over 2,000 games ... and I now feel completely empty when playing a game where my Icon players are scuffing passes, missing sitters, etc.

Connection trumps skill in this game, and it really pi$$es me off.

I feel like the card design thing (golds looking like bronze players) is deliberate to push people into wanting to upgrade as EA knows there is ocd about the way teams look. Just another £££ trick.

I don't even own Fifa 18 any more. Gave it away for free!
At present, EA is revealing icons every hour. What is the point? 90% of them will be irrelevant within weeks when a SIF Son or some random NIF with gamebreaking stats outperforms them. It is absolutely ridiculous how badly EA have lost their way with FIFA.

To add. I have played fifa13 last week. Teams and players still had normal stats. Barca 4.5 star team. And gameplay was pretty much okay.

Did you buy PES19 Kiwi?

Hey Glad ... Nope, not bought it yet. Read good things - especially about game play, but the MyClub seems a bit confusing.

From what I've seen so far the game looks like FIFA 15 zigzag pace trash. Got a feeling this will be the year that the game bombs big time. Once the exploits become known and weekend league comes it could be horrendous. Could easily see this year as being the one that I lose interest. But we shall see.....

This is what I wrote last year at the start of Fifa 18. And what I wrote pretty much sums up Fifa 18!
Still not pre ordered and with my PS4 being pretty much broken and unable to play games off discs because it just goes mental and randomly ejects them, often turning itself on in the middle of the night to do so, I'd be looking at £60 to download the Standard Edition. Have thought about PES but not sure I can be bothered to learn how to play it.

Well, from the info/posts that I've seen, PES is more a football sim than arcade game. Things like passing blindly, specifically one touch stuff - easy to do in FIFA - is not so easy with PES, unless you have higher vision stats (or skill/trait).

This will make things appear clunky at first, given we're so tuned into FIFA being smooth. I think some will be turned off by this, but I believe if you persist, you'll get better.

In the MyClub bit, it seems like there are pro's (easier to get better players) and of course negatives (market is non-existent). Levelling up players - taking some 64-rated player with a potential of 77-84 - seems like fun.

I may get it this weekend and see how I go. There is of course the major issue that once FIFA releases, the player pool will move over which is to be expected. However, I was planning on getting it on PS which hopefully will mean a bigger player pool regardless.

I did pre-order fifa19 for clubs. Might get PES2019 for individual play. If you buy it, tell us how it is.
