I'm starting the dislike it more with every match I play. Started off decent fun, but now it is just getting horrible. And I haven't entered a weekend league yet. I suspect if I did, it would probably finish me off with this game. Not sure what has happened, if people just have learned the weaknesses in the match engine, if EA have tweaked things, but it's just not fun.

Yeah ... the impact/collisions/whatever-you-want-to-call-it is the worst thing about this game.

Sure, I get super-tilted early on ... my bad.

But, the amount of times the slightest of nudges means my player stumbles, gifting possession to my opponent, is ridiculous! Combine this with the times I get blatantly fouled - in the box or wherever - because maybe, just maybe his boot laces brushed the ball before half-killing my player, is driving my nuts.

The whole thing is a mess. The refs are a joke, the tackles are a joke, the gameplay worse than anything in the new gen era. They've taken out the low driven as the most effective way and now it is the finesse shot from the edge of the box. Same crap every game, people trying to get the angle to do it. Without big changes the game will be dead even quicker than last year. At first I was enjoying the game but it is getting worse by the day. It's almost as bad as last year now, if not worse already.
Another thing is the servers are getting worse and worse. Button delay, passes going off with no relation to direction aimed or button input. Add this to non stop high pressure tactics that make the AI into machines, and it is unplayable at times.
I've not touched Weekend League yet, but doubt it can be any worse than Division Rivals which is basically Weekday League and no other mode to play at all. Didn't think it was possible for them to mess up this any more than previously but they have. Somehow.

Dare I say, I'm loving it  :-\

I play it for fun and take it nowhere as seriously as I have previously. Just move onto the next game if I have a bad one. I've given up trying to analyse the whys and what's.

Weekend league is fine.

One thing they could do with the removal of the ko tournament is make drafts free. Obvs make the rewards lesser but gives a casual mode to play.

Another thing they have subtly snuk in, is with rivals and WL being the only modes online, they have made us have to play more games.  Fair enough spread over the week, but compared to 40 in the old WL, you need to play 2-3 times as that over the whole week if you want decent rewards.

My enjoyment has gone up a bit the past week or so. True, there us some horrendous stuff in there and they do seem to be addressing it in the next patch. In 150 games though, I've yet to concede a near post bicycle kick. I think the way I have defended corners since FIFA 14 and practise at the amount of times people try it have helped.
What has helped me start enjoying myself has been the switch to 352. It's possible to pull apart the narrow high pressure teams and there always seem to be passing options. In the week and a half I've used it, only once have I been exposed on the wings and that was against a very good player in Weekend League, but the counter to that is to have a 4231(2) set up in your match plans.
Onto Weekend League, and I only had time to play seven games last weekend because of work but the opponents were no worse than what you would come up against during the week. The biggest problem was the button delay and lag, which at times was incredible. Managed to get to 4-3 and played against a really good player. Unfortunately haven't played enough to qualify this weekend when I'm not working but never mind. More time for Fortnite and Red Dead 2!

The biggest news though was my Division Rival rewards this morning. Switched on as I had a spare half hour before work and had earned Division 5 rank 2. Took the untradables as i'm doing pack only apart from occassional IF purchases, so that was two mega packs and two rare player 50k packs.

Mega pack 1 - Barzagli. Thought it was going to be Chiellini!

Mega Pack 2 - IF German CM (Eggesten?) and Leno

Rare Players Pack 1 - IF Pickford and Sokratis.

Rare Players Pack 2 - Ruud van Nistelrooy Prime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy!

Not bad because from the same rewards last week my best player was Toprak! Also my second icon of 19 after packing 87 Shearer a couple of weeks ago.

Oh and also have 3421 setup as my ultra attacking formation. It completely destroys defences! Have saved, won so many games by overwhelming defences with this late on in games

Is anyone still playing?

I had no work this weekend so redeemed my weekend league qualification. Managed to go from 4-0 to 5-10. The game is an utter mess. Got back to 9-10 where I've left it for tomorrow but what has happen to this game is an abomination. Gameplay is shocking. One game I was losing 4-2 in the 118th minute but still won. What goes on is so obvious!

Yeah still playing. Rivals only at the moment. But you cannot take the game too serious. I do have good runs but some games are messy. Strange things happening. Very inconsistent. Ball bounces are....pinball worthy. Small players pushing stronger ones easy from the ball . etc.

But I still enjoy it from time to time. Not playing too much

Still enjoying it. Pretty much 15,16 or 17 wins in weekend league. Pack luck great. Got Messi yesterday and UCL Lingard. The walkout music for the CL cards is great.

Steady in div 5. No aspirations to climb higher as the rank 1 rewards are good enough.

Team lineup is 4321

Str, Neymar
LF Mane, RF Mbappe
CM's Firmino, Fabinho & Pogba
LB Marcelo, CB's Ramos & Varane, RB SIF Lala
GK Courtois

Bench - Messi, Griezmann, CL Goretzka, Scream Schweinsteiger, CL Sane, SIF Werner & CL Vidal

Tempted to sell Messi and get 89 Gerrard in for Fabinho.

Suppose we'll see what patch 2 brings next week

Turned things around on Sunday and made Gold 3 very comfortably. Gameplay was very much improved yesterday. The button delay of Saturday wasn't there and things were much more responsive so the enjoyment levels were therefore much higher! Reeled off 8 straight wins at the end of Saturday and start of Sunday to turn 5-10 into 13-10.
Took a couple of losses trying to get the 14th win, one in the 90th minute after completely dominating the game, not scoring with 15 shots, and my opponent scoring with his 2nd, and a penalty loss where I was 1-0 down after the AI for some reason decided my goalkeeper had fouled the striker early on. To make things worse, I went down to ten men before half time when I took out the opponent through frustration but in true FIFA fashion, I got the dodgiest 90 minute leveler, but couldn't find a winner.

Had the games to attempt to get to Gold 2, but more than happy to stop at Gold 3. Hopefully I get a red card or two on Thursday! My untradable prime Ruud van Nistelrooy performed extremely well, scoring most of my goals. Hopefully he could end up overtaking my almost 400 goals I got with Bergkamp last year!

Sold off Messi before the BF crash next week. That enabled me to get in 89 Gerrard. He's steady but not worth 1.1m. 85 Fabinho does just as good with a reduced goal threat. Will get through the WL and sell him for the 86 UCL Fabinho, which has a good chance at being 89-90 rated come the upgrades.

New patch has, for me, the only noticeable difference that the speed has slowed up again further. Strange that Mbappe gets continually rinsed by 50-60 paced defenders even with a good head start.

Pulled 90 Silva and 87 Schezney in the WL rewards. Good sbc fodder

I got Almeida and Plea from my rewards. Also packed a load of walkouts yesterday. Naldo, Muller and Varane from Division Rivals and Icardi, Lewandowski and SIF Szezcny from various SBC, most League ones and the last one from Marquee Matchups.
Was quite ridiculous how EA messed up with that 3rd Icon SBC. So many people managed to get loads of 100k and 50k packs for pretty much free. Then when EA realised what was happening, they pulled the SBC leaving people that had part started it and some that had already submitted an icon, completely robbed.
They had to do something as it would have completely destroyed the market if left, but how they could put this up without seeing what would happen was laughable. They even managed to confuse Slovenia and Slovakia in marquee matchups. They really don't do themselves any favours. Stupidity every single year.

I think the placed curved shot is a bit...ahum OP? Cutting in from the side and do that is almost a 100% guarentee on a goal.

It's a shambles on the SBC front and servers not great, means this was simply a horrible week for EA.
