FUT '17 - In-game Stories
« on: September 22, 2016, 09:11:34 pm »
So, onto the next iteration ...

For me, the game play at this moment - based on 8 (offline) games tonight - is simply superb. Yep - haven't we all heard this before so early on!

It's not like every game was slow, meticulous passing, etc ... not at all. There were errors, misplaced passes, great off the ball runs, not a lot of free kicks (!!!), not 1 penalty either (!!!).

Interestingly some games went by slowly, but in a few the tempo was quite different - quicker passing, needing to concentrate more.

Oh ... and one of the funniest aspects is the AI doing fake throw-ins ... I got caught out a few times! :D

Had a lengthy session tonight - part 2 of the 10-hr early access stint. Continued offline to maximise the time, but after winning D10 and D9 & needing 2 points (from a number of games), decided to attempt Online Seasons.

First game was tough going - managed a 1-1 draw - but he had the better of the game. Then, won in a row to win the title. I will say that only 1 was rally easy - the rest, we were made to work for the wins.

Last game was simply horribly laggy! At one point I counted 5 seconds between screen movements. Thankfully he must have done something (maybe he stopped watching his 1080p YT vids) - 2nd half was a bit better.

One thing that stood out online ... the amount of times the opponent got the ball back! Don't like this aspect. But ... still not 1 penalty and the amount of fouls are very few!

Oh ... and corners are more fun now too :D

Few days away with work, got back on an early flight and home before 6PM. Kid waiting eagerly to get some co-op games in, after he's had a good run of games himself. Oh, and also he's spent time doing some skill games too. So, he's already got the low driven finish down pat.

Together with a decent run, after the early access and today's games - sitting well in D7:

Ripped apart some poor guy - 8-2. He had a Serie A team with Joe Hart in goals. Was fun :P

Not played much tonight - record of 3-2-1. First defeat in the last game of the evening :(

A few interesting games. One was against your really typical pace abuser. But, he was completely ineffective. It felt like whatever he was trying he was going nowhere. Surprisingly, he actually changed his game style and became more effective - was good - both sides.

Got our first penalties - well 2 of them in the one game & another in the next one. Still haven't conceded one.

One other thing - fair amount of injuries! In one game I injured 2 of his players ... oops ;D

I am enjoying the game so far, although people are now starting to find the weak parts of the engine already it seems!
On Thursday I won the vast majority of games I played, reached a couple of FUT Chamoions finals, semi in draft. But yesterday I couldn't win to save my life ending with a record of 1-2-6!
Played one today and won so hopefully this will continue.
So far I have made teams around the guys that I need to give chemistry to in the Hard and Ultimate Squad Builders. Have finished playing with a 433(2) that got Mitroglou, Pizzi, Danilo, Loren and Subasic their loyalty. Also finished with a 4411 that got Keko, Hugo Mallo, Oczipka, Brandt and Goretzka their loyalty. Realised that to get Choupo Moting and Huntelaar their loyalty in the Ultimate squad would probably require Goretzka again so instead bought a Geis and converted him for total 2k with Goretzka going for 4.5k.

New squads are a 442 with Lopez and Bou upfront, Corluka and Pejcinovic at CB. That will complete the Hard squad builder once they've all played ten games. Also have made a 433(5) containing Tremoulinas, Lichtsteiner and a second Subasic card that are needed for the Ultimate squad builder. That false 9 also contains my first discard IF of the game. IF Iago Falque in at RW.

Enjoying the game so far, and struggling to score as many goals as I'd like. Have pulled off a number of 1-0 wins and lost games I should have never lost. Is a bit annoying when people are just trying to snap your players in half all game, and the corner tactic of this year seems to be developing.

This weekend was the start for FIFA17 for me. I created a 352 and 433 team and both didn't play the way I hoped for. So I changed back to 4312, an all time favorite for me.

First team:

Serie A meets Primera Division.

Zarate: 4 WF/4 Skill. And is one word OP: 7 out 7.
IF Benedetto: wanted to try him out. 5 star weak foot show. Lethal but not as lethal as Zarate. Might replace him for Tevez . 1 out 4
DÁlessandro: probably doesn't need any introduction. 5 star skill and 4 star weak foot. 3 out of 7. Picked him up for 650 coins and he feels sooooooo great on the ball. Really teh star in my team

Belluschi: work horse on the left side. Strong link with the LB
Biglia: consistent as always. I am surprised how many times he penetrates the box despite his WR.
Jorginho: work horse on the right side

Mas: LB fast , decent physics, decent shooting and passing.
Rodriquez: solid as a rock, not so fast but good WR and linking with Mas possible
De Vrij: one of my RL favorites. Just had to put him in
Maggio: haven't used him for a long time. Good back in this formation as both backs will come forward a lot. You need high stamina and decent passing.

Viviano: never used him before but pretty solid

All in all a nice and affordable team. I won the last game with them against a pace **** with only 80+ paced players in it. 2 goals from d"Alessandro sealed the deal. Team felt coherent, I had 93% passing accuracy which is kind of amazing (against his 58%). Nevertheless I am having trouble with heavy skilling players. It seems that the roulette and fake shot are instant hits again. I am thinking of keeping this team for a bit, although I have coins to improve.

Will post team 2 shortly

Nice review Glad.

Weekend games started well and slowly drifted to mediocre. Managed to continue winning each division, until D3 hit & then it was tough - not surprised ;D. Only managed to stay up in D3 with a game to spare.

Last night's games (starting the new season) - pretty crap - ending on 0-1-3. Long time since we've been winless in a session :D.

Did buy in Tevez to put him in a 3412. First game he starts, scores in the 6th minute ;D. Didn't make much of a difference as we ended up losing that one. Good start though and he does look pretty impressive still, albeit not as fast.

Still haven't found the ideal team - hence trying out 3412 for now. Want to have something that's firing before getting to the 40 games this weekend - that's if we can even handle 10 of them :P.

do you guys think that the gameplay has changed a lot?

Last night I had a bad run, was faced with the usual suspects: all high paced and VERY high pressure teams. Running towards you and do the roulette every 10 seconds. Was not very enjoyable. It feels like FUT is full of the same scumbags and the gameplay is still supporting those idiots

I don't think the game play is that huge a change. But, there are some subtle changes that will affect us, in the sense that what we've done previously, we can no longer do.

The one example is hold the left trigger when taking long shots. I take a lot of long shots - always have. Now I forcefully need to remove this (now bad) habit. You can still use it, but it needs to be perfectly timed and in the right situation.

The other one that we've heard about, is using right trigger in the final 3rd of the pitch - don't do apparently, or once again, time it better.

Last night the kid wasn't feeling the best. I had a long trip out & was a little tired. But, thought I'd give it a run - 3-0 rage quit (hilarious OG forced the quit), 5-0 thumping & was 2-0 up at HT when the kid took over. 10 goals scored & 0 conceded, in a little under 200 mins. Games were in D4 btw - too many quits last season meant the relegation from D3.

We finished with the 3-2 win, and then I went on to win the next 3 as well for 6 wins out of 6 for the night and the D4 title win.

So ... my few games were either very well-timed, or co-op play is harder, against better opposition. Simply cannot take the Friday/Saturday's games that 'seriously' given you're flying through Divisions. Again, just subtle changes - normally we'd have a bit more time on the ball - now, especially in the final 3rd, you need to react a lot quicker.

Certainly is fun though ... would be disappointed if it was just easy to transition.

Oh ... and one thing ... lobbed throughballs are definitely not as OP. You've really got to time it right!

i also have to say, not big changes ... 2 things i realized, one now on defense you have to do that tacking not leave it to AI, in prev versions if you were running with the attacker side by side, and like charge him like shoulder by shoulder , the defender was snatching the ball, its very less now and you hv to do a timely button press ... to get the ball...

second, the fast players with mediocre finishing stats, are going 1 on 1 wiht keepers but not like scoring many of those chances.

kiwi - left bumper on long shots, why was that? what does the button do ? and the right bumper, is it "sprint" for you ? i do still use pes button combo so r1 is sprint for me

Agree OT. Strikers with low finishing not using the new "controlled" shot (or whatever you call it), are struggling to score.

In the past, holding left trigger (in default setup) would be more accurate for long shots. Now, it's still there but timing needs to be spot on, else the player attempts the shot whilst standing still - no real power behind it.

Been alternating between seasons and fut champions qualifiers with two separate teams. Have been using my untradable Mata at false 9 in a 433(5). In the seasons team, I have been getting all the players I needed their loyalty for the squad builders. I've been playing 442 and it's been really good. The previous team had Lisandro Lopez and Bou from the Argentine League, and the team I've just finished with had Huntelaar and the Italian Eder as strikers. Won Division 10 in the first season, survived in Division 9 in the last game in the first season in that division, but since then things have clicked and I've won 9, 8 and now am promoted from 7 without losing a game in those 3 seasons. Would be a spectacular collapse to not win division 7!
In the FUT Champions, I managed to lose 5 finals without getting qualification!

Since my disaster of a second day on 17, things have gone really well and I'm winning way more than i lose.

I'm enjoying the game. There are some annoying things, but I'm quite pleased at the moment. There are some worrying signs though. Two almost unstoppable corner videos techniques have appeared on youtube the past couple of days and doubtless more stuff like this will follow.

I've played 68 games now and have yet to score a free kick, yet to see a goalkeeper get sent off, but have nailed the new penalty system. I don't even look at the screen when I take them! Actually find it easier that way!

I am done already. Think this game mode is still full of morons. The AI is not better than fifa16. Still pace rules too much. I will play prof clubs with my buddies but no FUT for me.

Damn Glad. Sorry to hear that.

A good day this side ...
Firstly, the kid finished off the Weekend League - impressive run with 6 wins out of 7, thus ending on "Gold 2". Rewards not paid out immediately - got to wait until they have validated/verified coz apparently some people are cheating (disconnect glitches or something). What's new ... ::)

Anyway, they are pretty decent rewards/packs! 45k coins with 1x Rare Gold pack + 2x Rare Mega Packs. Looking forward to the Mega ones - 30 items, think min are 26 and all rare.

Then, given that I heard that Draft was a little easier, we decided to play that as co-op. 4 comfortable wins, not conceding and 1 rage quit (he was 1 goal down after 15 min  ::)). Rewards were - 1x Rare Players Pack, 1x Mega Pack & 1x Jumbo Premium. OTW Renato Sanchez in the Rare Players pack - these packs have been good for us! Notable others int the packs were Bellerin for 20k and Zabaleta for 8k.

Next, finished off the last few games of Div 2, got the win needed for promotion but couldn't get the 2nd for the title. Funnily enough these 2 games were relatively calm compared to the Champions Cup games!

Had some more non-rare golds so did the BB-favourite SBC - 2x Gold Rare players ... pulled Alex Sandro, sold off the one we pulled in the opening days for a 15k profit there too.

Tried another draft (given 15k made from Sandro :P) ... not so good :D. Stuck with an 83-rated 87-chem team - managed 2 wins before a loss to a 90th min goal. Got 2 packs (Jumbo Gold and Premium Gold) but no one of note.

And that is enough FIFA! Let me at least half half a day on the weekend for ... erm ... nothing!

Kiwi one suspects the payouts are being held until the OTW are outta packs but saying people cheating is making them look like the good guys  ;)
