FUT Champions 2018

So how's everyone doing?

It's horrible for me. Currently 4-6. Would snatch your hand off if you offered me Gold 3 right now!
Didn't think it possible, but it's even worse than last year. This new patch has brought back PTB again. So much more viable with the changes. Long shots worse, AI defenders stronger again, keepers able to turn out Butlandesque performances. Every team is pure pace and attempting to attack with just three players with everyone else defending. Through ball and 180 degree passes are still stupidly OP so they will normally score somehow.

The absolute worst thing is the amount of goals scored straight from kick off. I'm not talking about zigzagging straight through. It just seems that 80% of the time, the side kicking off can pass about and with the way that the AI of both teams act, create a clear scoring chance. This was glaringly obvious last year, but is just a joke this year, even worse.  At least one or two goals straight from kick off every game.

I had an unfortunate start as well. First game was in extra time and my Playstation just decides to eject the disc, causing the game to crash. The thing turned itself on in the middle of the night doing this as well. It's a well known problem due to an over sensitive eject button. On the advise of a Pro clubs team mate, i gave the console a massive clean and have raised it by propping it up with DVD boxes so that the eject button has a couple of centremetres of nothing between it and the table.

Hopefully tomorrow goes better, although it normally takes me a couple of months at least to be able to win more than I lose so as I say, would love to somehow make Gold 3.

Probably as frustrated as you mate! Think I was 2-3 last night when I turned it off in the next game. Was tilted pretty quickly though and decided I'd had enough.

Not sure how it'll go today ... trepidation ... ::)

Yep ... afternoon session - should have avoided it. Losing to 3 shots on target = 3 goals, of course.

Switched off the console at 3-7 and had some family time.

Night session finished - around 10:30 PM now) - 10-10. Goals galore - of course! Pjanic with 3 goals and 4 assists in the last 2 games (6-2 win and 5-1 RQ in 70th min); Mbappe with 5 goals & 3 assists. Games like that make it easier, but there are some that stresses one out - struggling to manage with the utter BS.

What's new, hey?!?!

I unluckily lost my first game this morning, but won the next three, every one of them against the front three of Izquierdo - Musa - Walcott. All easy games against three equally clueless opponents. That puts me 7-7. Will see how it continues this evening.......

Good job.

Me - Got to 14 wins from 24 - the kid winning the last 2. Then quit 6 games in a row throughout the morning/afternoon. Yep - 6. Could.Not. Be. Arsed.

Make that 7.

The player switching and defenders committing to a specific path when the opponent is attacking, is simply nuts. This means that pure pace = victory now. I'm not sure why your player is full on committed to e.g. a bouncing ball which you just know he's not going to have a snowball's hope in hell of getting.

It's been pretty dreadful stuff. I'm at 16-16 so should make Gold 3 but the state of the games of so bad.

All games are basically the same. Opponent just first time passes all the way forwards to his front three and then through ball. Doesn't matter where they're facing in relation to the pass. Any trash player can play a ball like that perfectly yet a player with 90 short passing messes up a 5 yard pass unpressured in a natural direction more often. Eventually three tackles in a row will bounce straight back to them somehow. Their keeper (normally Begovic) will make insane saves and you'll end up losing despite having the vast majority of play and four times more shots.

You'll battle to equalise and then the absolute shambolic mechanics after kick off will gift them a goal when they can pass around you unresponsive players. God forbid you make a tackle, because it'll put them in an even stronger position to score.

Refereeing has reached silly levels. Four times I've mistimed tackles in the box and not given away the most blatant penalty ever. You can get absolutely smashed but they give nothing. It's just madness. I'm picking up way less cards than last year because they call absolutely nothing at times.

The game is just inane mindless bullshit most of the time. If you get an opponent trying to play then as ever, it is very good, but the way the game allows people to play with little penalty and maximum reward is an utter joke. I don't see why people that play the same old nonsense need to have coins for an Icon Ronaldo or Ronaldinho or Henry or whatever. All they need is Izquierdo, Andre Gray and some other crap, and low driven it across the keeper after continuous spamming of through balls. Literally makes no difference at all.

I suppose the best way is just to try and play your game and it will probably become easier to stop over time. But when they play a hopeful, complete hit and hope, weak foot through ball from their CB and you are controlling the covering defender, but he refuses to move in any direction except slowly backwards as the ball rolls about 1 foot either side of him, and straight to an onrushing Musa to score and it just happens to be the 90th minute then I don't even know how EA get away with this year after year.

As ever it will be a constant battle to over come BS for the entire year, but with the boosts IF's are already getting, then by May, god knows how many random players will have cards that basically have 99 in every stat.

The game on release had promise, but a lot of stupid stuff that needed fixing. Now we just have a slight tweak on Fifa 17 and an equal, if not more, helping of BS. Same thing happens every year, only this year they've done it in record time.

Will be back tonight to somehow grind out two wins from 8 remaining games.

"Any trash player can play a ball like that perfectly"
"Eventually three tackles in a row will bounce straight back to them"
"keeper will make insane saves"

... stopped quoting as I felt like the rest was like reading a recap of my WL story.

It's just crazy that these .... complete skill-less, dull, exploiting (or cheating - whatever), no doubt pimple-faced little morons ... can compete. For EA to implement such a competitive game mode - on a world stage for plenty $$$ - but yet allow the dimwitted individuals to have a better chance of winning due to exploitation ... that's what I cannot grasp and tilts me no end.

But ... the last quote is just so laughable ... "Will be back tonight". :D Oh well!

Jesus had thought about giving the WLQ a go this week but **** reading these makes me think why bother have played all of 2 games online and quit both, the game is an utter mess. thank god for SB's cause i would be returning the game otherwise.

Really enjoying it TBH have the 2 bog standard teams and am finishing E2/E3 with no issues, true the rewards are not as good but they are rewards all the same. Even been playing on a 2nd account (only to get transfer access as the lad running that BOT is building a new want to trial it)  which i have been using a liga NOS discard team play 12 games rotating and sell up and buy back got to G1 with 8 to play can't be arsed to do anymore now.

will start again tomorrow with a 3rd account stopping the 2nd as TF access achieved.

Got to Gold 3 with 5 games to spare, but the motivation to play it any more was non existent. The state of the game now is probably the most broken they've ever allowed it to become. Well, maybe that's a bit unfair. They have a proper offline mode, sbc's updating regularly (although I'm being very selective over these at the moment. A lot of them are not worth the value of the players needed and with no rewards yet, my club is not flush with players yet), it's online gameplay where the problems are. We've had some awful stuff before such as the KSI kick off that we learnt to deal with for the most part, but this is different.
Literally everything that was bad last year is magnified, but now there through balls are just a joke. Probably over 80% of my games were spent dealing with the exact form of attack literally all game. And since the patch, the AI defending is back so park the bus is back also. There's been games where the opponents have a 50 yard gap between there attack and the other 8 players. When you try to play football against it, your midfield naturally push up, so its just a big no mans land in the middle of the pitch. You lose the ball, and it's an instant driven pass forward and one two through ball. The game has just turned into a complete joke.

Once games start being released in the run up to Christmas like CoD, I can see a lot of people leaving this unless they do something. This is going to be the year that they totally mess it up without doubt.

Last year, I believe that one person got 40-0 over both consoles. This year, there were 25 on PS4 hours ago. Apparently if you bring up the dashboard and go into a party, it disconnects the game without penalty. Works on both consoles. State of this game!

Yeah BB ... not the best of times.

I must get my head into the offline Squad Battles actually! Did a few and could see that it (AI) wasn't as bad as last year/previous editions.

... and Damn! Did not even know there was a glitch already. Just so typical though - not that EA 'allows' it, but that YT'ers are onto crap like this so easily. And yeah, blame EA too for simply allowing 180 deg driven passes/ through balls like that.

Well gents.  My initial enjoyment of the game came to a shuddering halt with the advent of weekend league

Pre patch, great.  Shrug off the EA sponsored bull$hit and keep moving on.  Post patch, or as I like to call it, the 'EA script patch for those who are crap at the game so we'll give them a fighting chance patch' total revert back to FIFA 17. Why EA, why??

Anyways, weekend league.  Started off all positive and excited.  4-1 start.  Not bad, could this be the breakout year? Nah.  Quickly through the surge of brown stuff, back to level par (5-5).  Sick as F###

This became 7-10. Vomit inducing some of the absolute garbage of KO glitch, 45th + 10min goals and likewise 90th min.  It amazes me that no one at EA who plays this can not see the massive chunk of time that gets added onto the ends of halves and address it.

Back to my Alex Hunter..  I preceded, although playing well, to lose the next 9 on the spin.  Quite how my controller, Console or TV survived that run I'll never know.  Good job the kids were out too.  Surprised the neighbours didn't call the police.  the amount of colourful language being used at increasing volume throughout yesterday afternoon  ;D

Actually then won a couple after a bit of a break.  (9-19). Worst record ever in champs. 12 games to go.  After another break for food, came back to finish this nightmare.  Lost (9-20).  Just about crying at this point.  Put the kids to bed and sat in the chair dumbfounded.  Did a few gold UG sbc's and a few SQB to feel whats its like to win again.

Prior to starting champs, I had a positive record by about 20 or so.  Not really a record watcher, but it was nice to have something which after a poor start last year I didn't think id have again.  Slowly watching this dwindle away almost sucked the life out of me.  Changed from my tried and trusted 4312 and went 4321, a formation I just couldn't make work previously.  My front 3 off chem which just irritates me.  Messed on with custom tactics (which I think is purely a placebo) and took out my 2 defensive midfielders for more attack minded ones with the 'f### it' attitude......

Won the next 8 in a row (17-20)  :o Game felt fluid. Players were pressing to get the ball back.  Constant never say die attitude.  Even playing what I would call good players, I was getting the rub of the green in all games.  Pen shootouts, last min, whatever BS had happened to me prior was now going for me.  I felt genuinely sorry for those who I was playing.  Then lost 1 in an epic proper football game.  No EA BS, just good football. Messaged the guy thanking him for the best game this weekend (17-21).

Next up a solid Bundes team with messers Werner, Bellerabi and OTW Yarmalenko up top.  down 2-1 deep in the 80+ min.  Took off Jesus for Ibra, all out attack.  Scramble one home in the 89th from a corner.  We share one each in ET and are down to pens.

I miss one of the first 5, he has his final kick to win.  Saves.  This happens a couple times more in sudden death.  We get to go round again, and finally I win 10-9.... the scenes  :o :o :o The impossible magic 18.

Great 'story'. And there in lies the problem for us FUT mortals.  Outside of the pros, the game feels like a total movie script, sucking you in, spitting you out with the grand finale of the redemption or the hero falling on his sword bittersweet ending.

Mad, mad game.....  On to next week  :P

LOL Simmo ... good cry & a chuckle, mate!

Fortunately you had a fairy tale ending ... not so on my side. After my last quit on Sunday night, I had to win 2 from 2.

First up was a familiar guy that seems to grind out wins against me - all the time. Was kinda chuffed I ran out 5-3 winners. Last game - another tough one - ping pong stuff and it's 4-3 to me. Thinking this could be it ... 90th minute, my CB's clearance is woeful and straight to his attacker - goal. Concede in ET to a CB header - not headed away, but a glancing, pathetic little dink that drops to his striker.

So, yep ... totally agree that this is indeed a movie script. For me it was ... a "nervous start working out the drama" (3-7), "getting back on track" (11-5), and then the "horror story finale" (3-11).

Absolute laughable stuff!
