Ah Bergkamp. Great player. Skillful but I never felt 'love' for him. Too clinical ..

Bergkamp in this game is the ultimate CAM/CF. Not 100% sure about his 87 card (low-ish on stamina), but his past legend cards have been brilliant to use.

Was 8-7 up till around midday yesterday. Then had to do some things in prep for the housewarming and tried a few quick games ... lost 3 on the trot.

Midday now here ... Sunday ... "you playing for fun" - I'm trying to convince myself.

Got the 18 wins with 4 to spare.

Some typical BS in there - boy, oh boy. I'm just thankful that I managed 10 games on Friday night. Pretty lengthy run today and with Sundays typically been so bad, I'm pretty happy with the weekend performance. Probably the first one in '18.

Got Silver 1 and gave up. It has got so bad. I'm at the stage where every little stupid thing in game, a random underhit or misplaced pass when it goes nowhere near where I'm aiming, the opponent carving through me from behind and no foul being give, any type of nonsense, just makes me tilt. Working next weekend so taking a break from this crap game. It isn't fun anymore in anyway at all, winning or losing.

Yeah ... "fun and FUT champs (or FIFA)" is not used much now.

The kid (and me to an extant now) browse the fifa subreddit and it's obvious that many are not happy. Unfortunately - as we all know - there are just too many people that constantly buy the game, spend the hundreds/thousands on FP and will continue to do so - forever more.

Call me cynical, but there will simply never be a scenario where EA don't meet their revenue numbers. They've got millions hooked and it will never change. Those that fall off/spend less are replaced by new 9/10 year olds with daddy's credit card.

Not sure if you have seen the EA SW BF 2 response about DLC cost of Darth Vader. Most downvoted reddit post - ever ... and by some margin ... 10+ times! I do think there are a bunch of idiots there - if you are that keen on a game, then spend the hours playing and earn the hero ... don't give in and buy him. But ... the reality is that he is available to purchase and I guess that grates many.

Regardless, it just shows that they've got the model wrong - now it may not be a bad thing (ofc it's not from a business perspective), but the method communication/trying to sell it ... man, there are just idiots running/working at that place.

Similarly, this one proves that as well -

Back in the slog. 3-3 from last night, and then managed to win 4 in a row before losing to a ... "basic" player. Positive record - won't complain.

13-7 ... done for the day/night. Lost the last game of the night - bit fatigued I think!

Way better than my previous WL's. Decided on 1 critical change .- only play home games!

Did come up against this monster:

Was up 5-0 and eventually finished 6-2. Interestingly he wasn't the worst player - not at all. It's just the front 3 I'm playing with, was firing on all cylinders.

Must say, IF Lozano is just incredibly clinical! Back-to-back hat tricks too. Love this front 3.

Weekend off the weekend league for me. Got to work 12 hours again today and tomorrow, and did yesterday as well. Didn't even bother to qualify anyway. Got IF Thauvin from marquee matchups the other day, but my best player from rewards on Thursday was Bas Dost. Have played a few games during the week. All false 9 with Bergkamp. Won the majority, but false 9 feels extremely vulnerable to through balls, even more than other formations.

Been playing a lot of Fortnite, trying to get that elusive first solo victory. Have come 2nd seven or eight times now, which out of 100, isn't bad, but I just cannot get the victory! Have four wins in Duos and four wins in squads so hopefully soon it'll happen!

If from MM ... nice. Rewards this side were pretty meh too.

So ... got the 18 wins with 8 games to spare - best for a LONG time! Do love the consistency with the front 3 - seriously not been this impressed by a trio, that is "not meta" (or whatever you want to call it).

Left the remaining games for tomorrow as seasons & draft is just ridiculously laggy - so frustrating.

With my Christmas shifts all but done one month earlier than a normal year and only having to work Wednesday and Thursday before things are back to normal next Monday, this morning seemed like a decent time to try and get through the utter nonsense this game throws at you and get back into the game. After a very light week of Fifa by my standards, I went into the daily knockout. Went in with a French 352 and it was bad. After ditching the 352 a quarter of the way into the weekend league ten days ago, I remembered why. My defence felt non existent. It's weird because before the last patch, 352 felt quite solid and I enjoyed it. But since then have just let in the stupidest goals imaginable with it. Despite the guy not being very good, I lost 3-2 to one triple rebound/deflection monstrosity and two other goals where I had no defence at all.

After that switched things up and looking at what I had in my club, decided to build two 4411 teams. Seen somewhere that it was ok this year, and being similar to 4231(2) which I've used the most over the past year, gave it a go. Ended up with a full German and full French team, as per the requirements.
First game, a Mario Gomez hattrick gave me an easy 5-2 win. Switched to the French team and goals from IF Alessandrini, purple Giroud and Ben Yedder gave me a comfortable 3-1 win. Into the semi final and it was a stroll. Another hattrick from Mario Gomez helped me to a 6-0 victory.
Into the final and I was faced with a Brazilian team with Gabriel Jesus upfront and was soon 2-0 down. Got back to 2-2 went to 2-3 in the second half, back to 3-3 but conceded again straight away but pulled it back to 4-4 on 86 minutes. Into extra time and I went 5-4 up but again, got pegged back to 5-5 on 118 minutes. This being Fifa though, the scoring wasn't done. In the 120th minute (what else?), I had a shot saved but the ball fell to Ben Yedder for a 6-5 win. The hero of the match though was purple Giroud who ended with four goals and two assists.
Have had fun with him in the 42 games he's played. Has just under 40 goals. Can feel totally useless at times, miss controlling simple balls and messing stuff up, but the goals he scores tend to be first time bullet shots in the penalty area, or just putting an unstoppable rocket past the keeper from the edge of the box when you take optimistic shots. Just seems like he has a completely separate shooting system to any other player!

This wasn't the end of things though. There was a 5k gold pack to open. Incredibly, there was a Buffon waiting to walk out and give me an extra 53.5k!

This means I'm going to try out a couple 4411 teams in seasons either tonight or most likely tomorrow. Made a couple of teams with Bergkamp at CF in both and a collection of random mainly discard IF's around him in both teams. Will see if it's a viable formation, although I suspect the lack of a CDM may leave you open to the one two through ball pace merchant counter attack 4321 and 41212(2) that inhabit this game.

Good job and congrats on that pull - rare on a 5k pack! Nice one.

Didn't play much during the week after my dkt win on Monday, but did manage to win the Division 6 title and the first game in Division 5. Been using the 4411 and I really like it going forward, but I guess Bergkamp at CF helps!
Have a couple of teams made and one game each in weekend league. 4-0 and 1-0 wins is a nice start. First game was easy and tw opponent was getting really annoyed with some crazy slide tackles making ting even easier. Second game was standard weekend league. Guy had as many 90 pace players with max pace chem styles on them and by the end it was a team of small wingers after his subs. Was quite pleased with how my defence held out as my worry with the 4411 was how I'd get on against the standard one two through ball stuff. A long way to go yet though, and the biggest problem of all is that at 2-0, I already can't be bothered to play anymore games at the moment!

Managed to win my first solo game on Fortnite on Wednesday which was great at he 77th time of asking! My heart was pounding towards the end, it was so tense! Also got a win and a couple of seconds on duos yesterday evening so still very much enjoying playing that.

Struggling along. 10-8 at the moment, after a 6-3 start from last night. Just can't string together a few wins in a row.

I guess I'm struggling with the right striker - even tried loanee Henry ... not ideal, but that could just be that he's a loanee.

Ah, FIFA crashed too - just the 1 game, but everyone counts I guess :P

I've moved onto 4-3 this morning. Stopped to do the SBC that gave 6 gold players and one rare. Used almost all untradable silvers got from upgrading bronze duplicates. Got a nice walk out worth 104k. Never knew Alex Sandro went for that much! Decent result.

After that one of my Fortnite friends was up for duos so after a couple of 2nd places on that I still have 33 weekend league games to play. Don't think that's going to happen!
