And so it starts ...

Good to see it is regional based - guess those top rewards will be based on position in there.

No co-op though so disappointed about that  :'(

Anyway ... kid started 8-4 with 11 goals in 60 min. Manic. I then lost to a 5atb team ... 0-4!

Both laggy, laggy games - with green connections. Hard for me to switch defenders. Not liking that part!

Ouch mate - that's harsh.

Well, a marathon session is over. Alternating with the kid ... played 32 games. A whopping 32 sweaty, frustrating, mostly laggy, pieces of crap called games. A few quality opponents, but mostly delinquent retarded individuals.

Won 16 games so far ... will see how the other 8 go tomorrow.

Not a massive amount of fun. Honest.

Yeah mate ... woke up this morning and I'm a little shattered - the kid also played the last 4/5 of them. I'm feeling old ...

There were 4 rage quits in there so a bit of time 'saved', but I didn't think we'd even get to the 40 games when we started given that it starts Saturday @ 1PM our time. 12 hours later ... :o.
Also, you find games INSTANTLY! Never had to wait more than 10/15 seconds for a game - certainly helps!

There is one advantage of playing all those games - you get your name in the big leagues ...

Have no doubt we've we're WAY down this morning. There was one guy in our regional division (OhNoAGoat ... or something like that) you'd won 25 games - his 'skill rating' was over 2300. I see the top 100 has 24 wins as a minimum. I'd be surprised if by tomorrow this time, that number is not around the 30-mark.

It's interesting that the moment you're there, the Gold/Silver/Bronze rewards that you're expected to earn, gets replaced by the those from the top 100. It seems like if you end in the top 100, you don't earn that and above the others.

Re: Divisions - don't know yet mate. The kid did one of the daily challenges on day 1 - was really easy for him, as most were still playing with starter teams - some even bronze - Messi was destroying them ::).

Yeah - that was early days :D. Well out of it after people started finishing their 40 games. You get 40 games to rack up as many wins as possible.

The likes of Hektik Jukez, Kurt, Gorilla (from the dark side Xbox Community side) are pretty much in the top 4 - the first 2 ending on 39 wins from their 40 games ... bit insane actually!

So ... #2 of the Weekend League.

Decided to stay out of this one - for my blood pressure/health - I'll keep using that as an excuse ... ;D.

Kid started well - 6 wins in the first 7 games. Then, it got a bit rough - only 4 wins in 13 :o. Some of the players though, were honestly quite dreadful. Typical behaviour is to score, park the bus immediately and then suck the life out of the game by trying to starve the other player from possession.

Of the 9 losses in this bad patch, I'd say 3 of them were gifted to his opponent. A few shocking penalties called and some outright dodginess meant wins for these imbeciles.

Anyway, 10 wins at the halfway stage meant he'd need to step it up to get to Gold 2 again (need those 22 wins :D). And he did just that - switched (from 433(5)) back to 4231 & good run of 7 victories on the trot! 2 Rage quits in there, yet he still managed to score 25 goals and concede only 4. Pretty impressive stuff.

Means he needs just 5 from 13 to repeat Gold 2. Would be a job well done again.

Kid ended on Gold 2 again, so same packs.

This time rewarded a bit better with a Yaya (50k) and a bunch of others ranging from 4k-12k. Overall, a net haul around the 130/140k mark.

Stressful going (well, for him :P) but over 200k worth of rewards over the 2 weekends is good going. Also, there will be monthly rewards too, so will see how that goes.

Week #3 ... kid decided to build a new team. Sold off OTW Pogba & brought in Lewa-Aub & Bergkamp. :$

Anyhoo ... he felt that playing with a single team would do dividends and we do have 80+ squad fitness cards, so it would be that then.

Well well ... after 21 games, this was the picture:

Given our time zone once again, he would be higher up given the amount of games played. He started with 6 wins then a loss to a good player (decent guy too). Racked up another 4 wins before losing in the lag/day time in Veltins Arena - stupid stadium :D.

12 consecutive wins followed incl. a penalty shootout win - he defaults these to me - hey, I contributed :P!

But ... game #25 - one goal up ... the game crashes :o! 3rd loss is a painful one! Next game is laggy, goes 2 down. Manages to get 1 back and pounding the guy ... not to be.

So, he ends the night with a record of 22-4 with 14 games to play. Pressures on - if he can get 11/12 - he might just get top 100 this weekend!

Kid finished on 32 wins ... pretty great result being in Elite 3, but the game crashed cost Elite 2 :D.

Seriously think it won't be enough to stay in the Top 100 though.

Yeah - he did well. Top 100 this week was even tougher to get in - on Xbox, 34 wins minimum - seems like it's getting harder each week. But, aim is for 21 wins this coming week so he'll get into Elite 3 for the monthly rewards.

For reference - 18 of his opponents finished in the top 100 Regional list (I think he ended 5th).

Team ...

As mentioned, the kid wanted to change it up - so Aub & Lewa were bought - they are super-duper clinical!!! Given that there are limited options for the CAM, brought back the legend ... Bergkamp. Playing as CAM he's just brilliant to use there.

Midfield is balanced - Vidal is one insane looking card (stats-wise). He pretty much does everything well. Renato Sanches is the terrier in the midfield - not the tallest, but good defensive stats, great strength & balance. Wins a LOT in the midfield. Thiago is deemed the creator - doesn't do much bad, but generally is subbed out due to low stamina.

Defence is also so over-powered. Both Smalling & Ramos have stopped countless attacks. Kid does do a good job though with them, must say his defence is very good.

Lastly, De Gea in goal is worth that price! Generally we always say that no keeper is worth 100k+ but was genuinely happy to spend that on him. Has mad some insane saves since we've had him. Is closing in on the 100-game mark.

Only sad thing is that this weekend has different rules - max 5 nationalities. Bayern ... wow! Get some Germans in there! Sold off Aub and bought in Suarez. Will pretty much be a similar team but with a all Spanish backline and Iniesta in for Suarez.

Tactics ...
Use 'something like this' - not always exactly that - but roundabout:

Like the faster play, and Defence sits a little back and obviously play 'cover' in place of 'offside trap'.

Player Instructions ...
Don't have anything of note on them - all is at this point standard.

Lastly, Kid's style of play ...
Now, I sat & watched 90% of the play. He's moved into the 'possession/passing' style that you see from the other top guys, after watching some game play (would call it research ... :P). It really is about that aspect of the 'team cannot score if they don't have the ball'. It's definitely not negative play - 8 rage quits in there. Pretty much averages over 2.5 goals scored and just over 1 goal conceded.

Also, very little skill moves - only used when needed & therefore timed better & more appropriately done. It's completely different to when we play co-op.

Great result Kiwi. And like the looks of the team.
