Hey Simmo - how did you go re: hold Div 2?

Started playing a little later after dinner tonight. WL for me, then the kid went WL too. Managed to get back to back wins in ET, before a relatively comfortable win. This was the last game of the night:

It was the last game as I didn't want to tempt fate after that by playing another! ;D

do you get WL qualification for holding div 2 now?  thought you had to get promoted to do it or did they change that?

Yeah - Simmo mentioned he held D2 the other day and qualification. Think EA are trying to get more people in there!

Rewards on Thursday gave me TOTS El Ahmadi and little else.
Also completed the Suarez SBC yesterday after six when all the A.Madrid, Barca and Real players were getting dumped for cheap. Didn't manage to pack anything unfortunately!

Played six games in the weekend league. Won the first one, but then it all went wrong. A combination of opponents Butland, 90th minute goals and some horrendous luck soon had me at 1-3. Managed to get two wins after to end 3-3.

Combined effort this WL ... I started on Friday night we ended up 6-2 (5-1 for me & 1-1 for the kid). By Saturday night it was 19-5 ... kid lost another 2 in the 7-odd he played, so I was around 8-1 for the day. Really had fun!

Today ... 1 started with a win before the kid took over ...

Now, I stopped taking results a few weeks back so don't quit have stats. But it sure was probably the easiest weekend! Especially the kid, ripping apart pretty much everybody in a 15 win streak - included a number of ROW Top 100 players.

We both had fun! I probably raged only a handful of times ;D

The team ... well, well ... absolute monster of a team, must say! That's probably what made it so easy! Think the majority of teams we versed they struggled with the silvers unbalancing their teams. One of those for instance was Honurly Airbrn (made both ROW regional finals) - it was one-way traffic, kid scoring 3. He made so many people rage quit today!

So, overall 14-2 for me and 21-3 for the kid ... 35 wins with a decent skill rating, might just be good enough for Top 100 after all the WL hype.

The team ...

... and subs - have to mention Meite & Farias - amazing. Farias was a super-sub in one of my games - scored 4 and took MOTM. Next game, subbed in again, scored 2 and once again MOTM. Great card!

I didn't go on Fifa until really late last night. Lost the first three to leave me 3-6. Wasn't even playing that badly, I just wasn't getting anything my way and there was slight delay and unresponsiveness.
Them it turned. Ended the night 8-7. The final game though was absolutely unbelievable. The opponent had IF Ben Yedder in attack and just after half time I was 5-1 down, with Ben Yedder scoring all five shots he had. What followed was pretty spectacular. I started scoring and in the 86th minute at 5-4 down I was clean through but his Bailly took me out and got a red. Somehow I scored again to make it 5-5 and with his players all half dead I added another three in extra time to win 8-5! SBC Lewandowski went one better than his Ben Yedder and scored six goals. Crazy stuff!

So I need ten wins tonight which is unlikely. Will probably aim for silver 1 or 2. Was in exactly the same position last weekend and reeled of nine straight wins but the chances of that happening again are slim!

Had a bit of unexpected free time earlier and have moved on to 12-9. Lost the first game on penalties (should have won it), won the next four, and lost the last one 2-1, and somehow missed an open goal, so should be at a couple more wins really.
Hopefully I'll be able reel off some quick wins later.

In one team I've been using TOTT Steeve Yago, Tongo Doumbia and Diego Contento. Doumbia has been a solid CDM, Yago a steady, if unspectacular RB, and Contento a LB who seems to play anywhere but LB. He can't shoot so when he decides to pop up at striker a couple of times a game, he has no hope of scoring!

The other team I'm using Molla Wague at CB, PotY Watkins as an attacking CDM and my red Futchamps Josh King at striker. Wague is an excellent, rock at the back, Watkins feels like a gold, and after a bad start with King, he's started scoring and assisting consistently.
Has actually been quite fun destroying awful silver pacey fullbacks and dreadful silver keepers.

On the brink of div 1. Need 1 win from 3 games

Not going to risk playing until after WL finishes as I have no desire to slog 40 games in 12 hours. Sounds like a fun challenge though   ;D

Managed the standard Gold 3 finish ending with 18-13. Had lots of time left to try for Gold 1 or 2 but was done with trying to defend against the most OP card in FUT history!

I actually quite liked this weekend league. Didn't play against Walker once, and was fun taking on and attempting to destroy the weak links, mainly dodgy fullbacks that a lot of people were deploying. 4231(2) is the perfect formation for remaining strong in the centre of your defence for stopping the 4321 and 41212(2) counter attacks, whilst also giving you lots of width to double up on weak, low stamina full backs.
Made a change to play against some different players.

On to the negatives. Butland. I swear he saves even more since the last patch. Him making double figure saves whilst I concede one or two goals from the three shots on my goal probably accounted for 4 or 5 of the losses. Games where you are completely on top yet he is superhuman and your keeper is a potato!

The other thing that was annoying about this weekend, and will be the new menace for the rest of FUT17. The new Son card. Seriously this guy is harder to stop than any other player in FUT history. Ronaldo, Messi, anyone has nothing on him. Whether its the combination of traits, weak foot, skill moves and stats, I'm not sure. EA have created a monster! And because he is so cheap to get, I reckon three out of every four games were against him. It doesn't matter however bad the opponent is, you are never more than two seconds away from conceding a goal. Anywhere within 35 yards, one slight mistake or misplaced step with your defender and it's a goal!
You seriously can't fully defend with any confidence against him. Maybe he isn't better than a TOTY Ronaldo, but you very rarely face him, but when Son is destroying you every game he just seems much harder. I got to the stage where my main tactic against him is just destroy him. Kick the crap out of him. There really is no other way!
EA have seriously messed up making him so cheap I think. Will be absolutely everywhere until 18 comes out. Bring back Musa!

Well done mate.

Yeah ... Son. SMH.

I've played with him in Seasons only & he is simply stupidly good. Like you say, the combination - they've hit the sweet spot. Directly after his skill upgrade, it changed everything. Even the kid today said he'd rather player Ronaldo, Messi, etc before facing Son.

Well, now for the first time in div 1 this year and with it weekend league qualification.

Should've won div 2 but drew the last game.

Now on 3rd attempt at Siggurdson. Would be nice but not essential
