9th Gold Cup winning team:

http://www.futhead.com/16/squads/5333659/

I won a lot of games with this team and reached the final a few times before winning it. Loved Pirlo who was excellent, and Hero Kamara was useful in retaining the ball winning nearly every header from goalkeeper kicks. But there was something missing. Probably a lack of width. Fabio was good at providing it down the left, basically doing Pirlo's running for him, but I set the right back, De Silvestri to stay back so the defence wouldn't be short.
Top goal scorer was Giovinco at CAM. He is ridiculously good at moving the ball quickly around a defender whilst walking with the ball. Also get a clear shot off with him in the box and left or right foot, it was normally a goal.
Up front, Kamara won every header, flicking on for Giovinco and Martins with ease. Unfortunately his goal ratio wasn't great. Martins isn't great for me either. Maybe it's his workrate (M/M), but he didn't get into the positions you'd want. And he isn't the best finisher.
Pirlo is majestic and given space can play superb balls. Onazi did a job in the other CM position, and popped up with a few very important goals arriving late in the box.
At CDM, Parolo was a bit of a mystery. He did a good job, but in 30 games, 0 goals and 0 assists. He has stats for it but I think he might be better in CM or a CDM in a 2 CDM formation.
Fabio was decent at LB, and would help a Brazilian silver skill team (LOL! Brazilian silver pace team more like!). De Silvestri is a very decent tall Serie A right back. I've only played against him as a CB in a 3atb formation though. Everybody uses Abate for obvious reasons! The CB's were both decent NR's.
In goal, IF David Marshall is actually really really good! If you ever make a Scottish or Championship team, you have a perfect option! He made some incredible saves and I can't remember any dodgy goals he conceded in his 30 games.

Latest successful side, winning the Wide Open tournament first go:

http://www.futhead.com/16/squads/5617099/

A good team to be successful with in this challenge. Ten different nationalities in there, and a nice collection of new countries ticked off the list. Pretty pleased at the amount of red appearing on the countries list now  ;D

A fun team to use, but the biggest let down would be the two wingers. Mkhitaryan is not best suited to a false 9 winger. Not the best finishing, but 5* weak foot gives you options. Decent player definitely but maybe better in a different position or formation. Maicon on the left wing position wasn't too great and was the worst player in the team comfortably.
IF Raffael is a superb false 9. Exactly what I had hoped for after a good experience of his TOTS in FUT14. Very good on the ball, excellent passing and finishing. Made for the role and a big recommendation on him!

The midfield was a nice mix. James McCarthy is an excellent CDM for 400 coins. A NR gem. Also contributed 4 goals and 5 assists in his 23 games. Liked him a lot. IF Xhaka was a good playmaker in CM. But I felt he could he done even more. Worth a try in your team though. Excellent passing and long shots. Mbark Boussoufa was one I wanted to use after his excellence in guiding Morocco through the qualifying stages of the Darkside World Cup in FUT15. He was decent, but probably would be better in a more advanced role really. 5* skills and decent on the ball with good passing makes him a danger. Can finish as well.
The defence was pretty decent. Denisov is a good left back, with a splendid mullet! IF Korb was ok at RB, but no real reason to recommend him over other cheaper Bundesliga options. Jagielka is a solid CB, as is IF Funes Mori, when he decides he wants to be a CB. Too often he pops up somewhere random like on the wing or even as the furthest play forward! Not really very good when his passing and shooting aren't very good.
Begovic had a few "moment" in goal especially early on, but has had a few decent performances lately. Decent cheap option in goal.

Gold Cup 10 winners from a few days ago:

http://www.futhead.com/16/squads/6840208/

Winning the cup with this brought up a nice milestone, 50 nationalities used successfully!

Was a good team, but my usual inconsistency with 4231 meant it took a long time to get a cup with it.

GK: IF German Lux. An Argentinian keeper, and they have never been great on FUT. This guy was average and had the ability to never catch anything. He would punch everything that came at him, even it was soft enough for a 5 year old to catch it! Not one i'll be using again.

RB: Julio Bufferini. One of those cheap, speedy, rare fullbacks that always seem to crop up in the Argentinian League. Being FUT, his pace helped him defending and also made him a danger in attack. He often overlapped dangerously up the right wing. Well worth 700 coins.

LB: IF Gaya. Good, but didn't really notice much difference to his NIF card that started off in the team. Luckily I bought the IF at its cheapest, but no real reason to spend the now 23k to buy him when his NIF is around 1k.

CB's: Aymen Abdennour and Jonatan Maidana. A decent pairing. Abdennour is a good defender. Wins stuff in the air, strong and not easy to get past. Maidana was ok, but not bad for a 350 coin non rare. Did what he should do, but much better Argentine CB's to be used.

CDM's: Enzo Perez and Federico Mancuello. Both were superb. Both contributed numerous goals and assists from deep. Perez is a more natural CDM, but Mancuello was given more attacking duties and often appeared late and unmarked in the box. He was also a good free kick taker and the biggest surprise for me in the team. An absolute steal for 350 coins.

CAM's: Oscar Trejo, Nabil Fekir, Mathieu Valbuena. Trejo wasn't that great, but could put the ball away when required. No reason to recommend him though. Fekir is fantastic and will never leave my club. Excellent all round. Great on the ball, decent passer and good finisher. Got into excellent position and one of the better players I've used. Valbuena was ok. Shooting is very inconsistent though. Decent on the ball and would probably be better in the middle CAM position. Could disappear at times.

ST - IF Benjamin Moukandjo. Quick. Was a good finisher and played well in attack. His goals came in burst. 2 or 3 in a game and then nothing for a while. Would either destroy teams or do very little.

Bit slow with the review of the team but here goes:

GK - Iker Casillas. Made some decent saves but some games failed to impress. Mixed bag.

RB - Maicon. Very good all round full back. A threat going forward and pretty good at everything.

LB - IF Miguel Layun. Like Maicon, pretty decent at everything and a nice 5* weak foot on him as well. Very good Portuguese League option.

CB's - Maicon and Leandro Castan. Both solid, cheap Brazilian defenders. Both did a very good job.

CM's - Jose Juan Vazquez and Fredy Guarin. We all know about Guarin. An all round CM that gets up and down and can hit a very good shot from range. Vazquez is very small, quick for a CM (he's set as a CDM). Not great but popped up to get a few goals. Won't be used ever again but for 350 coins isn't too bad, just too lightweight.

CAM - Edwin Cardona. Didn't really do much with his TOTS card in 15, but did pretty well for a non rare 75. Assisted, scored and 4* skills. Was the surprise of the team really. Didn't expect the impact he caused. 300 coins well spent!

LW - Javier Aquino. A fast, tiny silver left winger. Very lightweight, not the best finisher, but still got some important goals. Decent on the ball, did ok. Much better out there.

RW - Mohamed Salah. This guy caused problems in 15 and likewise is dangerous this year. powerful left foot, fast and good on the ball. Good Serie A RW, but lets face it, he's not Candreva!

ST - Hero Andre-Pierre Gignac. Very good finisher, strong and my type of striker. Tended to go missing at times though. Fun to use.

12th Gold Cup won with these guys:

http://www.futhead.com/16/squads/7257883/

After about 3 or 4 games of struggling with this team, it clicked into gear and had great fun with this team. Only one new nationality, Burkina Faso, but caused mayhem in attack with this team. Felt I could score at will.

GK - Victor Valdes. He's one that always seems to play out of his skin when I face him, but was pretty average for me. AI BS took him over in one game and made him give away a three goal lead very quickly by making him run straight past the ball a couple of times, but I guess that could happen to any keeper once the sliders take control.

RB - Pablo Zabaleta. This guy is pretty good. Very good defensively, not just getting out of his trouble with his pace (Walker!). Also good going forward. Probably the best BPL RB.

LB - Domenico Criscito - Again, as in the past FUT's, this guy is very good. Not seen him put into any Serie A teams this year, Zuniga has stopped that, but still very good. Got his customary very good goal for me that he seems to do every year. Unfortunately this years strike was from in the box and not a first time smash from a step into the opponents half!

CB's - Ezequiel Garay and Marcos Rojo. Garay is an absolute rock. Brought back the memories of the FUT 14 IF's. He has to be one of the best defenders I've used this year. No one uses him though. Too slow, but never once did his pace let him down for me. Rojo is not as good, but still does a very decent job.

CDM's - Charles Kabore and IF Lucas Biglia. Kabore was one I used because of his Burkina Faso nationality. Would never have used him otherwise, but I tell you what, he is a very good CDM! A definite NR gem! Assisted a load, and hardly put a foot wrong as a more defensive CDM. IF Biglia is excellent as well. He was given licence to go forward more and is an all round excellent player. Knew he had a good NR card but his IF is fantastic.

LM - Joaozinho. Pretty decent on the left. Was worried that he might just be lost on the pitch but was an excellent outlet on the left.

RM - Antonio Candreva. He is brilliant. No need to look any further for a right sided Serie A player. Passing, shooting, crossing, excels at them all.

CAM - Hernanes - This is someone that I never get the best out of on UT. Did ok, picked up a few assists, but just never really works for me.

ST - IF Mario Mandzukic. The best striker I've used 100%. Was ridiculously good for me on 14, and that was without smashing in crosses to him constantly which isn't my game at all. For some reason didn't use him last year, but this card is something else. Smashes the ball past the keeper with deadly accuracy and holds the ball up better than anyone. Wins goalkicks for fun with his head. Just a matter of time until he is the main striker in my seasons team. Love him. Didn't score one header interestingly enough, but then I never really tried to. This may be THE striker for me in 16.

Nice one TWS.

Just on Kabore & the comment re: NR gems. We have been using Bazoer in the team with SIF Fischer. This guy stands out - game after game. He's getting goals - 1 in 4, including one from 25 yds; assists, making good runs. Defensively, he's all over the place - interceptions, winning the ball in the air, making good tackles in the middle.

Unfortunately for him, Fischer hasn't done anything special. But, will use him in another team.

Sounds exactly like Kabore! I have SIF Fischer but yet to use him. I have a new 433(2) planned out and need to finalise the LW, LCM and LB. He was one of the possible combo's.

Tonight, won with this to take number 14 and cross a few nationalities (Iraq, Macedonia, Japan) and clubs (Newcastle, Udinese, Hellas Verona):

At last managed to win Gold Cup number 15 with my TIF Kane team:

http://www.futhead.com/16/squads/10202092/

Kane is fantastic. Was already great but since he got upgraded has got even better. Hugely recommended.
Bolasie was the third left winger to play in the team. IF Arnautovic and Max Gradel were before him. Arnautovic will be a good LF, Gradel never really was in a good position, but Bolasie is very good. Seemed to get in better positions and his strength was a huge plus over Gradel.
Liked the Portland Timbers right hand side. Darlington Nagbe was a good silver winger. Wasn't out of his depth against golds. Hero Diego Valeri was decent. At times could disappear a bit, but decent passing, shooting and dead ball skills. Powell at right back was also pretty decent.
Ryan Mason was a surprise. Came up with many a spectacular goal. Never realy scored a bad one. Fine for 350 coins.
Cambiasso at CDM is always a decent underated player on FUT. Biggest disadvantage is that he is always half dead by 90 minutes. No chance of him playing in extra time.
Cesar Azpilicueta is a solid LB as ever. Roberto in goal made some good saves. Heard bad things about him, but never really let me down.
The centre back pairing of Sergio Sanchez and IF Alberto Botia was good. Never let me down. Could occassionally get done for pace, especially late on in a game, but did their jobs.

Liberia, Jamaica and DR Congo crossed off the nationalities list, Portland, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos off th clubs list.

16th Gold Cup winning team:

http://www.futhead.com/16/squads/10291384/

What a team it was. So good in attack.

IF Aduriz is wonderful. Heading, strength, finishing in the box. A great striker. Raul Garcia is also wonderful. A great CM and 700 coins. Probably the biggest bargain this year. Passing, shooting, can defend, good on the ball. A complete midfielder.
On the wings, Ntep is overpowered as hell. One of the best I've used this year. Bangoura I thought would be pace and little else, but he has extremely good dribbling and put in some great crosses. 5 assists for him in the 4 games.
Other midfielders were Remy Cabella and at CDM, Alex Song. Cabella is another very good player, non rare but great. So dangerous coming forward from LCM, but at CAM I could see him being almost undefendable in the right hands. Song I've used a couple of times so far and does a good job.
The defence was Benjamin Mendy at LB, a transferred Montoya at RB and a West Ham pairing of IF Winston Reid and IF James Collins at CB. Was worried about Collins, but he is solid enough and wins everything in the air. A bit dodgy on the ball and turns like a tank, but good defensively. Reid's IF's are always good cards and this was no exception. The fullback performed very well and Cech in goal we all know about. Makes saves no other keeper seems able to make.
Every player was very good. Just of those teams that works in a big way!

Things seem to be going quite well at the moment, third cup win in five days (and also a few final defeats in that time as well). Gold Cup number 17 with this team:

http://www.futhead.com/16/squads/10461019/

Not quite a one man team, but not that far away. Breel Donald Embolo scored 13 goals in just 10 games with this squad. Without doubt the best non rare striker I've used this year. Up there as the best striker of any that I've used on 16 in fact. Guy is absolutely incredible and the best 400 coins you can ever spend on a striker. There is nobody as good as this for 400 coins I'd say.
The wingers weren't great. Boetius is ok, but is dead by the end of the match. Berardi did absolutely nothing whatsoever. Never be using him again in 16. Complete waste of space.
Marchisio is obviously very good, and was also pleased with IF Kallstrom. Did well, scored a few, assisted a few. Tidy and a nice player to use.
The CAM, Matias Delgado was a nice surprise. Upgraded to a gold after being a 71 rated silver originally, he was good. Got 4 goal and 4 assists. A threat from behind Embolo.
The defence did well. Martin Olsson was a decent LB, no complaints for 450 coins. IF Jonas Olsson did better than I expected. Only in to give Kallstrom chemistry, but good in the air and fairly solid. Mexes was decent enough and at RB, Abate is predictably decent because, like Walker, his pace gets him by with the way FUT works.

Tried to build a NR hybrid a while back with Embolo.. Couldn't get anything resembling a quality side.

You have re-kindled my interest now  :D

His is one of those that players much better than his rating suggests. Finishes like a 90 rated player should!
Off the top of my head, it would be a massive struggle to get him in a NR hybrid team. I know he'd link to Kallstrom and there's a LM NR, Belgian, in the Swiss League and Barnetta at CAM in the MLS. Think there's a few NR Swiss midfielders in the Bundesliga but on the right nothing springs to mind. Suppose it depends what formation you use. Actually, Kerzakov moved to the Swiss League, he may be NR? It'll be hard though unless you use 451, 4312 or something where you can keep him away from the right side of the team.
The amount of time I've spent messing around with players and teams on concept squads, trying to get Swiss League hybrid teams, I know this without looking! 451 would definitely be easiest, but the lack of any wide links to Barnetta in the MLS might mess that up.......
