Dunno what to do about consoles, still tempted to swap xbox for the ps4, might live to regret it, but got a niggle towards a change.   Only thing is im not selling if i dont get a decent offer and none have been forthcoming up till now.

Anyone tempted by Child of Light?  http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/04/29/child-of-light-review

IGN seem to like it.  I think its a PS4 exclusive? but the IGN article clearly mentions it for Xbox One.

So decent games coming up, Watchdogs, Elder Scrolls online if you can be bothered with monthly fee and like MMORPG's, and also regrettably another EA game, the UFC game due out in June.   Any others to add to that?

Ah yes ... have not posted about the kid's exploits as yet.

Watched him for about 30 min on day 1 - did look a bit ... erm ... weak - in the graphics department! Kinda wondering why the delays were there. Walking around scanning people, hacking their phones, or traffic lights to cause accidents, etc etc ... suppose it will get tedious, including the stomping around in a giant spider - looks pretty cool though :D. Seen one review where the walking/driving/shooting is likened to GTA - so basically an "already been done" comment.

Then ... I suppose their main drive may just be what they deliver from an online perspective. Embedding yourself in someone else's world, getting close to them & hacking them, then trying to get away - looked interesting. There were a few other modes too.

Yes - he's played a whole bunch of hours on each day ... so far. I'm sure it will be interesting for another few days / weeks - especially given our anti-FUT state. Past that though ... not sure. They will have to make the online experience more attractive.

Interesting, yeah i heard a review on the radio and the reviewer did touch on comments from players that the graphics werent as 'next gen' as people had been expecting.  I suppose that is a bit of a disappointment.   I am a touch sceptical about the whole hacking thing, hackings never been something ive been into employing much in games that ive played before so not sure how i will warm to a game that features it strongly throughout the game.

Any other games on the horizon you are interested in Kiwi?

Not at this stage mate. I must admit that I'm even more now anti-'new gen'. Suppose they did a great job of hyping it up & we got caught in that.

Think you've said it too before ... hindsight being what it is, we would've stuck with the 360 & got new controllers. Waited a full year to see what's new, real impact of new gen graphics - then bought one.

Just on the Watch Dogs / graphics - long ago we were playing games where the far away objects instantly appeared whilst exploring. This happens in the game & you really think that new gen graphics should surely cater for seeing a car as a speck (a kilometre away) & slowly growing. Not 'boom' ... there's the car 100 yds away. Poor.

if you want a nice shooter: I am hearing good things on Wolfenstein (brings back memories  ;D ). But this is only a SP game.

@ WD: my clan buddies have the same opinion. Graphics are really below expectations, game feels slow, not very orginal too. In fact as one said: Infamous is so much better,

I was thinking of getting Watch Dogs, but watching the review, it does look as though it would get repetitive quickly. Also a bit similar to GTA, which I struggled to get into this time around so will probably leave it. Will get back on GTA during the summer, but I don't have any new game purchases planned.
On the new gen, glad I didn't bother yet. It's always the case. Massive hype but not much delivered in the first year or two until they get to grips with developing for it and also lots of people still on Old gen. Will wait for the price to come down and more decent games to be released for it. Guess that Fifa 15 will still be almost identical again this year on both so will stick with PS3 for the foreseeable future.

hey Kiwi, yeah i hear you, ive actually just taken delivery of my new PS4 and Watchdogs today, got a good deal on it though as a relative used to work for Very so got 15% menaning the bundle cost £325 so not too bad.   Ive not had Watchdogs on yet, been installing some free games which as per the xbox have taken pretty much the whole night.   The first thing i notice about the PS4 is its a lot smaller and lighter than the xbox one, and the dam cables are a lot shorter too which is kinda annoying.   Will be interested to see if i find the graphics as disappointing as you mention, and ive got a feeling i will.    Also noticed the cost of a PS4 controller is £55 which is a touch obscene really.  Is that a common trend that accessories are more expensive than the Xbox?   Im not really complaining these are more just observations.

I'll be looking to get a good shot on Watchdogs tomorrow and see how i feel it measures up.  I definitely have got this impression though its not going to live upto the hype.  Not just Kiwi's comments but the score of 8.4 on IGN was lower than i was expecting for a game that was hyped up and had been 5 years in the making.

I've not even played it yet and im thinking about UFC and the upcoming Batman game lol.   Anyway need to try and not be too negative before i play it.

I've still got my 360 as well just cant be bothered buying a new controller for it.  I still have one that works but the LB doesnt work and it has to be chargin all time or it wont work.

Nice Eric. Would be good to hear some feedback on the 'transitional' experience. Especially interested to hear comments on the differences in controller.

I think with Watch Dogs there could be some really interesting stuff - kid was playing poker yesterday, hacking into cameras to see opponents cards as they take a peek. There was another scenario of inserting yourself into another user's game, trailing him & doing whatever is necessary (different to the other scenario).

But like TWS said too - there are aspects that have been done before & GTA V was such a massive hit, how could another game really compete. The technology angle is something to leverage off but how smart they get with that, is yet to be seen. Especially with all that hype & the delays, there should've been more to it!

Basically by not delivering a unique experience, they've indirectly admitted that the delays were merely technical issues & they were just not ready for a Nov '13 release. Which ... pisses me off as I (and the kid) was suckered!

There are certain things that sound really good, but is being able to see the info on every pedestrian in the game relavent to the gameplay in anyway or is 95% of it just pointless filler? My big worry about it would be that it is too repetitive, but then again so is facing BPL 41212 teams in FUT but we still put ourselves through the frustration/boredom!

Also is the PS4 much better than the xb1? Not that I have any interest in switching at any point though!

Ok ... just quizzed the kid about Watch Dogs ... It's a longish one ...

He was busy with a mission trailing a suitcase - stealth required, etc. Need to watch out for people checking you out if you have your weapon out as they call the cops. Was entering a 'restricted zone' - where people will attack you. Hacked in & knocked out some lights, took out a guard with a silenced pistol. Before that though, he hacked into the surveillance system to see what was happening, let off a pressure valve on some pipe to distract a guard. This is part of a typical mission.

There are apparently a huge amount of missions / side missions - probably similar to GTA V. Something like a 100+ hours will be needed to complete these. They vary from shooting missions, to stealth (per above) to racing / chasing, etc. The side missions - stealing cars & get them to another location - with the least amount of damage (relates to amount you will earn). Another one is a criminal convoy routing the city which you can see. You need to stop it which means you need to set up an ambush & take them down.

Another comment, cops are deadly ... if you're being chased and they start shooting, you will die. They're very aggressive the moment you are not obeying. Choppers are hard to lose too.

Free roaming - you can see where potential crimes are going to be committed (probably likening to the 'Person of Interest' series here), where you can use your phone to profile the people in the area - showing potential victims / perpetrators. You need to survey & intervene at the right spot, all this adds to your reputation - positively (stopping a crime) or negatively. If you have a bad rep - you will get plenty air time on the news - being a vigilante & therefore people recognising you. Even gun stores may get aggressive if you have a bad rep - calling the cops or pulling a gun on you.

On the multi-player side, he mentioned it was laggy (apparently Uplay have issues) but it was a lot of fun. For example ... the whole of Chicago is a map - obviously a huge one. There are some areas, e.g. construction zone, that was turned into an offroad track, where MP races took place. There were 6 people who raced - they replayed it 5/6 times.

Suppose some may see this as a warm fuzzy post from a 15yo kid. I'll add that he's a far more mature gamer than most kids his age.

@ Eric: what is your PSN tag? Hope you like it

@ WD discussion: I am doubting to get it. Think my main problem isthat after 3 hours your are repeating yourself. Will see. Hopefully Plus will give us MGS as a free game next month  :D

Infamous is a good game to get Eric, graphs are good, game play is nice.

Hey Glad, my tag i believe is (due to lack of imagination)  EricCartmanNo1  :D

So far Watchdogs seems not bad but ive not played that much of it yet, i think tomorrow will be the main day for playing PS4, depend on the weather during day tho as it has been great today so not been indoors.

Glad, can you recommend any of the good free games?  Quite liked the look of that Outlast, the horror game, but dont wanna pay for a game now, that was free in February.

Still playing Dragon Age on iOS, been going for over 9 months now, by far the longest I have played a game on iOS. Wouldn't have believed I would still be going now as there isn't a lot too it, maybe that's what works.
