It's a strange one as I do acknowledge that city haven't had a great season and it's hard to say who from city should be in there with kdb.  Maybe it's a positional thing.  I'd say Sane should probably be in ahead of Valencia or Herrera but accept they have been 2 of uniteds better players.  Maybe David silva could be in but isn't due to better performers in that position.  Just strange that the team likely to finish 3rd under represented compared to the one thats been widely criticised for falling short and have thrown in the towel about 4 games before season has concluded.   I should probably be more surprised they haven't found a way to shoe horn rashford in there somewhere too lol

United is horrible because of Mourinho. Every team.gets its share of issued. He doesn't dare to let them.play attacking football. Look at Conti....he did much better with Chelsea than M. with more or less the same players...

What do you think glad, reckon Ajax can beat them next week? In theory it should be a mismatch, as a non united fan and mourinho loather I'd love to see them flop

Yeah - a few injures on City's side too, meant they missed. If there was anyone to swap, I think Ibra has to go for Aguero. I'd like to use that Ibra of course, but Aguero scored 1 more with less playing time (even tho' Ibra was injured).

I must say - Liverpool fans should be disappointed! No Coutinho/Firmino but there's Lallana ... not a bad card, but certainly those other 2 deserve it more. I know Firmino had a lean spell at a point, and when they're (EA) stuck on including 5 strikers, he never had a hope.

Only 2 wingers ... that was a mistake. Coutinho in for Lallana would definitely have been my choice.

It's a frustration Glad. In one way, Utd were great defensively. How the heck they even did that with the players they have, is beyond me (aside from a few standouts).

This is the first season in a long time that I've actually watched more live games of United since leaving South Africa (time zone issue). It's been incredibly frustrating that they're not always playing defensive or negative football, but the quality of finishing has been the real issue!

As you can imagine - as a Utd supporter - what Mourinho brought in was a huge ego, which meant budget to buy players. The squad needs so much work still, it's scary. We would have been way worse off if Moyes was still there - he didn't have enough of an ego to say "I want Pogba" (for example).

On Conte/Chelsea ... for me this is short lived & I may need to eat my words in the future. The reason I say this is that he's had success due to a formation change. The 3 at-the-back, or arguably 5 atb formation is what has changed things. Yep - the squad is gelling betting that under Mourinho, but next season I think teams will learn to counter that formation - possibly playing the same. Already seen Arsenal play that too.

It's kinda like the transition over the years with regard to 'formations that work'. 4231 was all the rage years ago ... teams are moving away from that. Not United though!

I also don't get why there are four Utd players in the squad, given they have played mourinhos usual anti football brand. De gea was the best keeper and ibrahimovic is a ea favourite and was always going to get in but the other two surprise me, neither have been outstanding and I think there have been a number of players that have been better in their positions, rose would have been a better choice at fullback. Lallana is a pleasant surprise as well, thought coutinho would been in instead of him. For the most part though you can't argue with the majority of the squad.

The problem with both Man City and Liverpool has been their complete lack of consistency and their abject defending at times. They have both played great attacking football one week and then have been unable to string a couple of passes together the next.

to be fair Kiwi, I haven't seen many games from ManU to judge. But when I saw them playing I wasn't impressed with the will to attack. It felt like they were playing with a hand-brake on. ManU was always 'swinging' football. A reason why I liked them. Those days seems to be gone

@ Chelsea: you might be right but Juve is plating like this for a couple of years and are very successful with. I tend to believe that Conti 'trigger's the players better than Mourinho. He uses them in their strength.....

Look, I'm super critical of Man Utd - call a spade a spade. They're not playing well enough and how they've scraped through to the final of the Europa League, is beyond me. Thankfully that has happened and they still have a chance at Champions League football next year.

On Conte/Chelsea ... I like Conte, think he's a good manager & done well. But the fact is he took over a damn good squad! All he needed to do was motivate them, get them in the right spots & boom ... they're the best in Britain. Sure, he did it, but it was easier than say taking over Utd at the same time, trying to get the best out of them.

Mourinho - call him arrogant whatever you want - the squad he's inherited is not a 'cohesive unit'. SAF did a tremendous job over the years, but he retired (IMO) knowing that his squad was not in the best of shape.

I'm still not a huge Mourinho fan, but we're stuck with him. All I can hope is that over the next season or 2, he rebuilds the squad capable of that good football again.

I think maybe Valencia pipped Rose due to the # of appearances (27 starts vs 18).

Re: Liverpool players - didn't see much football so can only check on stats. Coutinho was robbed IMO.

sorry Kiwi to pick on just one comment (didn't want to quote the lot) but I don't think it is fair to blame SAF now for the squad he left.  Onto the 3rd manager since, must've been 400m spent on players if not more.  Should be ample to have addressed any deficiencies in the squad.  Although I do appreciate that when a new manager comes its a bit rip it up and start again.  But that's a common excuse of modern manager, blame the predecessor to try reduce the expectations on themselves.

on the bright side for you, despite the criticism of Mourinho's style, if you throw enough money at it and sign Rodriguez and Griezmann, the attacking side of United's play should improve considerably.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not purely blaming on SAF for everything. Moyes and LvG had a run at it and unfortunately didn't achieve.

I will say this - I've always stated that SAF didn't leave Utd in the best shape - it's not just a recent comment. What he got out of that Utd squad for the 20th title was close to miraculous - especially the front line - thus showing what a great manager he was. Oh, and thank RvP too!

Fast forward a few years ... a 50M+ teenager, another teenager brought through the ranks, selling off Hernandez & Welbeck (not the best but at least settled), Rooney aging and as team captain not coping with being the primary goalscorer ... it's not going to win them titles and shown that it's barely good enough to get them into European competition. Ibra's added some oomf but I think his injury means he won't have another season there.

Pogba was a great (future) signing - Utd needed him to attract future stars. I can only imagine what Mourinho said to force the board to spend that.

Agreed that another few signings - specifically in the attacking area - needs to happen for Utd to be competitive again (for the title of course).

Man ... had our 30 saved packs in place. Bought some FP for the lightning rounds and it was back to pure disappointment. Nothing blue on the horison ... and the saved packs were "worth" 1M coins.

The kid even tried 10-odd EPL packs ... nothing.

Just horrible.
