Had a cracking defensive failure yesterday but left the game in huff and forgot about it. CB1 falls over, CB2 falls over him, CB1 gets up and falls over CB2, opposition striker pops the loose ball in the goal. Doh.

i do it all the time, if there is a lofted ball or cross, i try to change the angle of the incoming player and press L2 shoot...
many cases i miss the easy chances but once in a while a bicycle kick happens, then i am satisfied...

Was undecided where to post this morning. In game story about bronzes, featuring goals. Well I can't really be bothered to go into any story now now so here's some goals scored by bronzes.

IF Neagle has made a great 1st impression on me and if he carries on his current form he'll end up as one of my favourite bronze IFs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKF_M7wfFNM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKF_M7wfFNM)

Doozy of a game for the next 3 goals.
IF Moffat is warming up but I'm still unconvinced he's much of an upgrade on the NIF. Has been scoring more often tho...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzTSrTB4Hb0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzTSrTB4Hb0)

Nice chip from Magennis.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1aB01nwnME (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1aB01nwnME)

and a world class finish from CF Armstrong. Need such quality to finish like this but I have to say, it's mostly down to the skill of the person behind the controller.

Nice goals there Cuz, especially that last one ... um love the way the last guy basically knocks himself out off the goalpost there :D.

Had a quick game whilst waiting this afternoon. Kerzhakov scored this from the pre-determined move - like the slight swerve on the ball moving it away from Sirigu:

Had the same dilemma last night when posting that Kang goal.   Seemed relevant to the bronze thread i had previously been posting in but at the end of the day i didnt seem many other goals in there and thought, round pegs for round holes huh :D

This, this is how you win a game in the 90th minute.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SNKSztuQ28 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SNKSztuQ28)

Single msg afterwards.
'nobhead'

I fully deserved the win tho, 17/13 shots to his 6/2, 55% possession, far higher pass accuracy, so really it was justice.

Did reply.
'Hehe, understandable, sorry. Still, you were the one that took the goal kick...'

Hey guys.
This is my first real post so here it goes  :)

Played a few matches with our silver team today, it is a 3421 with Pedersen, Kazim Richards and Vuckevic on top.
Have to say probably the best silver front three out there! All 4 Skills and Pedersen with 5 Weak foot so you can cut in nicely and not worry which foot he is shooting on and he's pace feels like 80! Unstoppable! And Vuckevic, what a player! Scoring long shots for fun! Richards finishing stat is not the best and despite not having the longshot trait he smashes them in!
Anyway these goals were against someone with Bent as a RCM and Clichy, Johnson, Richards and Walker at the back. Felt good scoring these  ;D

Pedersen

Here's an old one in the meantime then. BBs nice lob, that quirky thing where you don't actually want to lob but they do it anyway, yes? This one worked out for me.

Any nice goals i'm scoring these days never seem to be in the highlights  :(

So often the case, ludicrous. Win a game 7-3, get 3 goals in the highlights. Whatever system it is they use to capture them, it's clearly deranged.

Had time for one game earlier. Won it 5 nil, all the goals were in the highlights and there were only about 7 on the list.
Here's a couple.

Nice enough strike from Bertram.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLhWVBNI_Vk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLhWVBNI_Vk)

But the goal that got me uploading was this touch of pure genius from Neagle. Obviously used the eyes in the back of his head to see that Nagamuras shot was going straight to the keeper.

Few more goals for your delectation. Created a custom setting in the RealPlayer downloader, HD! Go to the drop down menu on the Convert button and you should find it. Seems to have made a difference, although I think calling it HD is pushing it a bit..

1st up, one from my 7-1 final win yesterday, nice bit of skill from Danny Mayor and a sumptuous finish. Obviously this game was giving me nothing so I really had to play above myself to achieve that scoreline, but I am really awesome so that helps.

Nice one from the QF. Mainly for the assist but getting Knoll into these positions always leads to joy.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtC-Oizy4oE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtC-Oizy4oE)

Someone then quit on my Korea/Mexico/Saudi team after 15min in the semi, 2 nil up. Scored good goals with Oh Seung Bum and Espericueta, could've saved either but for some reason I did neither  :-\

In the final, a 5-1 win, Demme hit a hat trick, nice justification for the unlikely conversion to striker, but the pick of the goals came from IF Berre.

The fist pump came in the 90th when i equalised, had to keep my composure after that to hold back his 4 90+ pace attackers

Nice dribbling on Lukaku there Eric, didn't know he had that in him.

IF Perstaller finally smacked a decent long shot for me. Been having a little more success with him recently.

Drew a game 1-1 earlier during which my opponent made this save to deny Nasri.   Probably quite hard to see in replay as there was some amount of pace on the strike, couldnt believe Sirigu managed to keep it out, wondered if i should do some fancy slow mo replay or something on it but figured it was better to leave it and try show the power of the hit, as it made the save all the more impressive.

1) Bit meh, who is this Sanogo?
2) Decent hit
3) I could swear that was 2 from a different angle
4) Content removed by user
5) Not bad (for bronze level)

1) He's a bronze bully and I just thought it was an amusing way to start his 2nd coming, I liked the shove. I'm not used to these kind of brutes.
2) Yep
3) Nope
4) Bloody nightmare. Now fixed.
5) Cheers.

A few nights back, playing with the RPL long shot team, managed to get Antonio Ferreira forward. A couple of clumsy moves initially, before the strike:

Had this on last night. Mata hit this on his right and Diego Alves - thankfully his keeper - is slow to react. Initially thought it was a GK blunder, but I suppose some credit must go to Mata - getting it in the right spot:

Download RealPlayer Carlos. It's free and easy to find. Once it's installed you'll get a d/l pop up on any video you watch. Do that then upload it to your YouTube account. If you have one, if not then get one. All d/l vids go into their own folder in your video library.
Sometimes it's a bit picky and will stop working on certain browsers. Mines actually having a proper strop atm and won't work till I restart the comp, d/l box appears but nothing happens when I click on it. Then it'll work till I need it again, needing another restart.

I've called up the drop down menu on the d/l box and set up a 'custom device'. In a nutshell, when I click d/l it automatically converts it to HD. Quality is better but it certainly doesn't look full HD, tho all my YouTube vids are now labelled with it.

Got a few games. Sold off TOTS Lahm and TOTY Marcelo is also on the tradepile.

Bought TOTS Vidal. Felt pretty good actually. Played a game where we conceded 3 pathetic FKs ... he stepped up with Reus & within 1 sec took the FK - scored all 3 ::) .

We did manage this with TOTS Vidal:

Can't believe they haven't fixed the highlights thing. Scored my best goal so far with Steven Fletcher yesterday night, but it's not in the highlights, yet an overhit through ball that trickles through to my keeper 2 minutes before with not one of his players nearby is in and described as a John Ruddy save? What?

http://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/football-club/profile/media/XBOX/EricCartman%20No1/2014/video/172759498 (http://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/football-club/profile/media/XBOX/EricCartman%20No1/2014/video/172759498)

This next one i loved, a Negredo backheel, super classy, definitely worth a watch this one

http://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/football-club/profile/media/XBOX/EricCartman%20No1/2014/video/173072998 (http://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/football-club/profile/media/XBOX/EricCartman%20No1/2014/video/173072998)

Ramires has scored a couple of efforts like this for me, this one was the pick of the 2, right into the postage stamp from range

http://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/football-club/profile/media/XBOX/EricCartman%20No1/2014/video/173072551 (http://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/football-club/profile/media/XBOX/EricCartman%20No1/2014/video/173072551)

This one would have made the mishaps thread from last year, defensive disaster here

http://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/football-club/profile/media/XBOX/EricCartman%20No1/2014/video/173051875 (http://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/football-club/profile/media/XBOX/EricCartman%20No1/2014/video/173051875)

This one just to highlight the slight flaw with finesse's, Clichy gets in on the act with his right foot  ::)

Played against a guy who scored this OG with Constant.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7NPNzcs4ic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7NPNzcs4ic)

Then, one of today's goals ... trying to control Negredo, but it switches me to Jovetic. Nevertheless, Negredo still gets a great touch  ::)  perfectly setting up the strike by Jovetic
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT0ptBKyYRY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT0ptBKyYRY)

Lastly ... bit of FIFA brilliance. Yes - I conceded this one, after the headed attempt on goal deflects off my player's head so that the keeper can make the save, palming the ball into a fantastic spot for him to score by ... well, just watch it. The little d!ckhead watched THREE replays of it

Here's the first upload for FIFA 14 on XB1.

You can watch it in 720p ...

Edit ... a few things to note:
- quality means you can see the kit number on the shorts (near the end of the celebration)
- the crowd - nice improvement there.

Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Kiwi on November 22, 2013, 09:15:03 pm
Need to do a bit of research around that one mate!

On Xbox you can 'tell it' (through Kinect) to 'record now' - that's one option. And then you have the option to merely record - this is one I have not checked as yet so cannot tell how long you can go for.

The initial rumours were 'record last 5 minutes of game play'. But, not seen the specific clips for that unless they're not in the default folder.

Ok ... so here is a test after some research. Once again, a video that was automatically recorded:

Unfortunately it opens in a new page, but still better than the painful process of downloading initially & then uploading to Youtube.

He he ... noticed now that it does not show the initial image, just the little 'play' button :D

So ... this one. Career mode. Pressure at corner time. The kid gets it & boots it 'out'.

I suppose I don't mind this - didn't happen to us ... also realise a faux pas like this happens IRL too. But, the keeper did not slip. He merely 'fell over' trying to make a save - well outside his box. These are the daft things that the programmers should try get right. The game looks damn good as it is. Now concentrate on fixing stupid gaffs like this.

Hey Benny. Fixed the link. Unfortunately adding it via the 'url' bit means it adds a bunch of junk making the link ineffective.

I find it best to copy the link in & manually add the html parts before & after. Before = [ hmtl ] & [ /html ] after ... without the spaces.

Nice to see that you've added quite a few clips in there.
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Benny Hix on December 10, 2013, 07:33:03 am
Cheers kiwi, Ahh ok tried to use the hyperlink bur that didn't to do it but seems to put [url] before and after.
Don't know if you have noticed,  but the upload studio only allows you to make a clip of 3 or 5 clips for some bizarre reason why they don't just let you link as many clips as you want is beyond me. I understand capping the length of the clips but the amount seems a bit lazy.

Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Kiwi on December 10, 2013, 08:20:07 am
All good Benny. The 'standard' links don't help too much when it tries to insert a URL around that.

As '1.0 releases', Upload & Upload Studio aren't horrendous. Hopefully Microsoft listen to users & continue to add real value to the product. We don't need a full blown video editing solution, but there is quite a bit you can do with it. I am impressed with the time to render though! The actual upload time is dreadfully slow. Maybe the rendering is not as fast as they're showing & then the total time for render+upload is overall not too bad.

With FUT completely messed up, I headed to H2H Seasons. I was Spurs, playing against Dortmund and he was clearly a typical FUT player playing H2H (pointless lobs to nobody). 39th minute and I break the deadlock with Vertonghen with this... well, mess! Vertonghen is the player that plays the bad pass but how is it give to him? And WHAT is the keeper doing?

Nice goals! I am terrible at long shots. The only goals I tend to score from 25 yards out or more are free kicks or chips over onrushing keepers. Definitely something I need to improve on.

holding the left stick up/forward (from the view where sneijder is looking to before taking the free kick) to get that dip

I guess that's been the most impressed with the legends - the feeling when they're on the ball - similar to their RL counterparts. I guess that's partly why all the legends haven't been released as yet - they probably haven't even 'digitally captured' them as yet!

Had this slightly comical game last night. Very rewarding in the end, as you'll see. Fella had the full Classico thing going on, Suarez up top had a training card on him and was a massive handful. Benzema was playing RW. I've a feeling he had a high rated, no chem CB but that may have been a different game....
Anyway, he started strong and gave me some problems with Iniesta, Benz and that trained Suarez, but I began to click and cut him open. Lots of chances and the reason for the vid save, the relationship I developed with his right post.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHhk-sCUZ_U (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHhk-sCUZ_U)

Main highlight for me was James spanking that post from 30 odd yds and Morata following it up with a 2nd hit. 1st shot was a doozy. Then there's the Kroos FK, club captain and main man, plus Guarin's great long range strike after refusing to be bullied off the ball.

Just watching it back, Cuz 3-5 Post. Left post managed to sneak one in that I missed.

This guy right here.... The love is so strong right now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OubAqJh9VYU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OubAqJh9VYU)

18 goals in 53 appearances atm. The main thing with that stat is where he's played- EVERYWHERE!
Initially used him at false 9, with a very different set of teammates. Was not his most starring role but he still delivered fairly consistently. Was enjoying the team tho and a lot of what was good about them came from his use of the ball
Next up was RCAM in 451. He was really good there. Made the most of his shooting ability and ofc, his passing was key to everything that went down the right and centre.
Then he went to LCM in 433(5). Again, he scored goals and circulated the ball perfectly. The only other guy in the team who really made much impact was Konoplyanka, that largely because he had Kroos as his supplier.
Now currently he's RCDM in 4231. Not much changes, still a playmaker extraordinaire and still popping in goals. This last strike the pick of all 18.
He's now showing more defensive capabilites as well, naturally. The game this goal comes from saw him achieve a MOTM 9.4 rating despite scoring just once and assisting neither of the other 2 goals, both scored by James. He didn't even have the most passes or highest completion %. He did have the most tackles with 3/3.

He's not going to latch onto through balls, he's not going to dribble past 5 defenders like Leo Messi, he's not going to chase down attackers or hold a midfield all on his own, he'll not win many headers. Otherwise he's perfect....
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI

Nice one Cuz. Hitting great long shots this year (and scoring :)) is more of an art than previous iterations. Feels good to score one.

Kinda wish there was an "auto save favourite player's goals" setting. After each game, automatically record the goal - including the 'standard' replay as you've just shown - would happily wait an extra 30 seconds/minute. Kudos though to EA for improving the replays - finally!

Anyway, reason I say this is that Tevez is fast approaching 200 goals (179 in 174 with 40+ assists) - arguably our highest ever top goal scorer, given we've always changed teams so often! He hit a first time finesse from 20 yards - simply perfect in the bottom right - beating Begovic (our nemesis this year!).

I wouldn't mind spending a few hours making a montage then.

So, I know this may look noobish with that chipped throughball, but this is what we've always done (or attempted to do) with Van Basten, when the game is safe - chip it up and attempt those volleys.

Sweet volley!

Here's a couple games then. Vids are obviously kinda long so if you are interested, be prepared to fall asleep.

Game 1.
This is one of the ones where nothing works. Pass speed was actually alright. It was foggy ofc, 3 out of the 1st 4 games I played with the A team last night were in the fog, which had me shaking my head.
I could note minute by minute the number of times the pass recipient was wrongly selected by the AI but that would take up most of the page, I started noting it mentally, 10 min, 15min, 19 min, 25 min... sod this. 35 min the wrong runner takes over the through ball and ruins the move.
Obviously I played some poor balls myself, towards the end of the game I was pretty dissolute and barely trying to play decent football. The main thing I noted at the time was my players touch and movement, releasing the ball in time was a real issue, as the game went on, I seemed to have so few options to do what i normally do. Early on, tackling and intercepting was the problem.
I actually take the lead with some prime sweat and then it really starts to go off. His 2nd goal is a comedy of errors.

https://youtu.be/2YUgsqFKgkM (https://youtu.be/2YUgsqFKgkM)

Game 2.
So this is when things are working, note that I still don't win.
Main thing is that my players all seemed much more compact and more in control of the ball. The shorter passes were much more successful and generally going where I wanted, rather than behind or in front of my aim. I just didn't score enough. See the HT stats, 7 shots, 0 on target, despite several being clearly on target. Get some stupid AI choices and crucial misplaced balls in the final 3rd. Poor game from Isco, despite scoring my goal and hitting the bar, get caught on the ball with him constantly and make hardly any use of his passing.
His Shaqiri is surprisingly strong.
Beautifully dumb AI pass from Manolas at LCB on 48min. A few minutes later, he gets an almost cataclysmic auto switch from Callejon, intercepting a ball down the channel that Callejon looks like getting to 1st.
And yes, I still don't win. Naturally enough, he scores as soon as he gets a break.
Of course, tackling and intercepting were much more crisp as well but it helped that he was overly obsessed by pinging the ball fwd to Costa at every opportunity, it worked once after all.

https://youtu.be/6BjQD2NbKps (https://youtu.be/6BjQD2NbKps)

Was gonna upload a 3rd game which I won, against a monster La Liga team, called 'When things go really well'. Played maybe not quite so much football as that 2nd one but simply got the breaks in my favour. Turned out I couldn't be arsed.

Nice uploads Cuz. Was on a webinar - one of those where presence is required - got through both the videos :D.

It's an interesting watch - see so many similar things happen all round - you dominate, he gets a breakaway goal, you dominate more with the odd ball through the middle - runs straight to his keeper, his forwards making clean & clear cut tackles, etc, etc.

I notice that you play with the opponent's GT above the player. The kid had us change midway through '15, to 'player names'. There is a (sneaky) benefit of this - you see the shot power bar above your opponent's players - big of an advantage at times to see what he might be doing.

I always have the players name above instead of the gamer tag. Helps to identify a player and what foot to show him onto. The powerbar is a bonus as well, can give you a split second longer to react to corners, free kicks and stuff.

Latest chapter of 'Can't Score, Won't Score' for you.

I clearly get off to a real flyer here. I'll save you the tedium if you find other peoples games boring to watch at the best of times, it's the only goal of the game. Save for a couple of dodgy spells where I blind pass, I think I play pretty well here against a tough opponent....

https://youtu.be/ePNlaTh1fwQ (https://youtu.be/ePNlaTh1fwQ)

Here's where it went wrong.

8min. Stupid shoulder to shoulder FKs.
15min. 1st of his annoying pauses, following an invisi-tackle...
19min. Stupidly bad pass.
22min. Wrong pass recipient, this is already a recurring theme.
23min. Amazingly bad 1st touch.
24-25min. Desperately trying to play the ball to James but he just keeps getting out of the way. Followed by a breathtakingly bad through ball.
29min. Another stupid pass, which leads directly to 2 lucky escapes.
32min. Not an outrageously bad pass but it goes to the ST rather than Kroos breaking through, so the move is an instant dud.
35min. Nicely played pass behind my ST rather than to him.
37-39min. My bad.
41min. Excellent pass avoidance from Morata.
45min. Wow! It worked! I shoot straight at the keeper in surprise.
47min. Almost! But for a size 12 foot.
52min. I have absolutely no idea.
53min. Kroos knew who James was passing to, the AI did not. That spoiled that move.
57min. Well my defenders certainly think Perin should come pick up the ball. Then congratulate him on the save instead.
59min. Yep, not passing to you.
62min. Oops. Followed by how much of an ignorant pause?!
65min. AI fail! I manage to avoid it's traps and get a shot in. I miss. Nainggolans boots are a disgrace.
67min. Where the hell is that pass supposed to be going?
72min. Not there! Oh wait, GOAL! Ah, offside, so that's why you chose to pass there instead.
74min. Good job moving aside Morata, was kinda hoping you'd make a run and I could play you in but never mind. At least we still have the ball... Oh. Great.
76min. Nice hefty AI clearance from Evra. We were in control and could've set up a counter but better safe than sorry eh.
80min roundabouts. Several poor passes from me here.
Finally some lacklustre general stuff before a nonsensical AI pass from Isco on 90min.

So exasperated by the continuous wrong pass shenanigans going on in this game, I played the next one on semi-assisted.
Oh. My. God. That was even worse. It seemed to me that the AI was happy to let me totally embarrass myself with my inept power control and lack of pin point accuracy for 90% of the game. It's semi assistance was strictly limited to butting in now and again to choose completely the wrong player to pass to. My only vaguely accurate ones were those, mostly attempting to reach a guy who was about 40yds away.
Far from eliminating the problem, it basically just highlighted it.

Ouch Cuz!

You know, PES certainly has a few things right - very, very 'right' (sorry - shocking English).

There are aspects to in-game settings, structure, formation, tactics when attacking vs defending, etc etc. Might be way too much for the casual gamer and unfortunately it's a pretty 'ugly' game when comparing to FIFA. Animations look weird, when playing FIFA for so long.

You certainly feel a little more in control. If you pass with 45% power, you're going to get that (well, the majority of times). If it's 65%, expect the pass to be that.

It would be awesome to see that kind of thing in UT - bit of a 'h@rdc0re' setting - per some FPS terms. I'm not talking manual because that's just daft. I've played way too many games on manual throughballs for instance. You just know that the AI is doing something - or it just gets way too sensitive - excessively so.

If only we had a $ for every time we've said 'UT can be so much better' .... ::)

Had a very interesting night on FIFA, so this story has video accompanyment.

Been decent recently, not had much sh*tty gameplay but my investigations into it made me hyper sensitive to it's occurence during yesterdays session. So that has a big bearing on how I took my experiences...

With all this recent goodness (Monday not included), I started the session fresh from promotion to Div. 4, I'd played one game previously so started with 3 points on the board already. Loaded up and the 1st game was OK. Just a smidgeon of luck in my favour.... :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRG0qPmr65o (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRG0qPmr65o)

Followed that up with some more nice gameplay but only managed a vaguely cr*ppy and slightly undeserved 1 all draw.
Then I won the next. And the next. And the next!
Won this one by a bit more than a canter. Gameplay was good this whole time but for this game, it was extraordinary. I was so nonplussed by how smooth and flowing it was that I spent the 1st 40min doing things wrong, trying impossible passes and the like. I cut that rubbish out for you and start where it all kicks on and you get to see the full majesty of 4231 clicking :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orfFm8uYbcM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orfFm8uYbcM)

Raul Garcia  :-* :-*

Oh and Tevez, tho brilliant, celebrates like an utter tool.

Here I was, 3 points from the Div. 4 title with an enormous 4 games to play. Miraculous stuff.
I had started to feel like a pro Twitch streamer, constantly smashing randoms silly for the vicarious satisfaction of my teen hangers on...
I would be so much more entertaining than all those clods. Every team I face is worthy of comment, every player I face is ripe for a p*ss take...

But yes, I knew with the title up for grabs that the next game was guaranteed to be sh*tty...
Bingo, the continuous steady flow of average BPL teams and their tiresome owners was interrupted and I was handed a guy with a massively expensive and solid looking 352.
It actually wasn't terrible, gameplay wise, but I got zero luck at all, some heavy touches and wayward passes, of course I lost but only 1 nil. No matter, this was nailed on to happen.

Next up. Bayern Reusczek. Ah ha matchmaking conspiracy hat firmly on, now I'm up against the all stars am I? What a coincidence!
This lad was an abysmal player. His sole tactic, spam crosses to Lewa and if that didn't work, 90 PACE CHARGE.
The gameplay was utterly rotten, could not string 2 passes together, couldn't control the ball, couldn't switch or move defenders effectively. Basically left me helpless against his power players. Game even lagged visibly at times. What dross. Lost 3-1 and no doubt made the kid feel like he was Ronaldo's cousin.

Oh so conspiratorial. Did it run out of opponents with decent ping at 5, since matchmaking is so abominable? Or perhaps it saw the title there and decided that it would search a bit harder and pick out people who ticked the twin anathema boxes of fantastic team, awful connection.
Of course the latter! It's no dumb collection of half ars*d code but a vindictive and plotting digital mastermind, Skynets lazy, grouchy uncle. The bast*rd!

Third chance to win the title. Oh WOW, another from the awesome team, banana net collective. Gameplay was not quite so shocking but really not good at all. I fumbled through to a 1 all draw.
At this point I had somehow convinced myself that was the end of the season and had happily reached the point of turn off. But no, one more game left. Siiiigh... Ok then...

Load screen shows me a pretty rubbish team, some good players but a few on 6 chem and not tactically chosen either. The sort of line up that you just know is going to be controlled by someone equally rubbish.
I see. Here is my end of season gift. Have a win old bean, it was in the script all along, hahahahaha!
Well.... This game was really interesting to me...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIaz_RL2qMM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIaz_RL2qMM)

Boom out of the blocks! Stupidly good gameplay! But of course, just what I expected!
Unfortunately, I'm not at all prepared for this and I'm highly unfocussed, I should be in bed. Keep making daft choices, trying too hard and losing the ball, mostly running into people with Benz.
I do get it together tho. He's creating absolutely nothing whatsoever, the way things are all dropping for my players, even risky passes go straight through him, how his passes are intercepted before I've even blinked, me scoring is inevitable.
And I do.

And then something switches. It's so blatantly obvious in the vid. Suddenly he's got loads of room, nothing he plays is being picked up by my defence and my crucial passes are going weirdly awry.
It gets worse. When the 2nd half starts, the switch is flipped into overdrive. Now my passes are not just awry, they've gone into super slo mo/might as well be playing blow football with a straw mode. Every through pass I play in the final third goes to the wrong player. My touches are dreadful.
So shocked and thrown off by this am I, that when I get a particularly sh*tty pass in midfield and am forced to play it back to Barzagli, I'm just not thinking to safety hoof it when he takes half hour to control it. Instead I try to turn and pass back to the GK, he's so slow at this, he gets caught on it, Costa runs free and scores. Game over, title chance gone, thanks sh*tty gameplay. Pffffssss.

I've obviously had plenty of sh*tty games but I've never had one that shifted so dramatically from one extreme to the other.
I don't want to just jump on feeble and almost far fetched excuses like scripting and such. The reasons for sh*tty gameplay are quite logical and surely not at all to do with actual trollish intentions from the evil, maniacal matchmaking system. But by god, it really does push you doesn't it...

Ultimately, I considered it a good night of FIFA. Had some truly excellent performances, won more than I lost and earned a promo to the Div 3 horror show. Just, y'know, found certain aspects of it... interesting.

In 14 or 15, don't remember which, I won the first 5 matches of a season, needing 18 points for promotion. 5 games to get 3 points. Guess what happened?

Oh it's just all the time isn't it?
If I need 2 wins to avoid relegation then duly pound some poor sap into the turf in the next 2 games, I get such small satisfaction from it. Be much more satisfying if it simply presented me these sacrificial lambs for every game... :D

This is why I tend to avoid seasons. The amount of times I've won the Last 2 or 3 games to stay up, or in the final game you destroy someone and are 3-0 up in seconds by dodgy occurrences. It happens much less in cups, which is why I tend to stay there and had to come up with an idea to keep me interested.

The one thing that keeps me going back to seasons- The payouts. It's the only prize money I can count on :/

A game that amused me. This is my one afternoon defeat of the week. Personally, I think I played some pretty great stuff in this one, out of the games I've watched back, this one seems to contain my best actual football. Just hero GK, stupid 2nd goal and calamitous schoolboy error on my part late on. Was one of those games where you can play your ar*e off and just go oh well... I did enjoy it but y'know..
IF Aubameyang btw. He had a few IFs in there.

Played a handful of games last night. Shouldn't have bothered. We're beyond input lag atm and into a whole new world of just straight up strangeness. Hopeless does not do my lot justice. Played a few in the cup, losing on pens, winning one in normal time then winning on pens.

Then a couple in Div 3...

1st game took the right p*ss with it's oddness, aimless slow passes to people that seemed to have no recipient etc. Both his goals came from weird balls out from the back. Note that in the 90th min, I'm suddenly able to string a move together.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPF8vXxf2lQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPF8vXxf2lQ)

So I saved that thinking this is the pinnacle of crapitude right here.

Next game was even worse. Just check his team at the start! Then check out the absolute nightmare I have trying to get anywhere near taking the ball off him as the game goes on, positioning and switching were beyond awful. Interception stats of zero on everyone. Even so, I'm clearly in auto steal or tackle contact time and time again. Not to mention all the sh*tty passing and final perplexing miss from a position James always scores from.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO3fpKBjpns (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO3fpKBjpns)

So we'll see what the future brings, whether this is a random spell of lag I'm having or if it's gonna go further than that. Game yesterday was basically unplayable, if it was usual, it would be a waste of money quite frankly. Be back to the shop with it.

So amused by this I'm not even bothered I turned it into defeat. Does irritate me that I lost 2 goals off Martinez' record, he's fired a load in his 1st handful of games, in total contrast to his earlier short spell there. He'd be on 6 in 6 at least. Lost 2 of James' with a d/c the other day too, grr.

Hey, what's up guys. Welcome to my new series, OP BPL BEASTS!!!
So I'm gonna be showcasing some real beasting BPL guys for you, these are the guys you're gonna want in your BPL beast team. All of the players in the BPL are beast but some are more beastly than others, the ones we're gonna showcase for you are the beastliest of all the beasts.

Starting off with the King of the Beasts, Benteke aka Bentekkers aka Beastekkers. Technically he's probably more like the Prince of Beasts because Lukaku is pretty Kingly. Maybe Lukaku can be God of Beasts.
Right, well, King of Beasts Beastekkers rates a massive 576 on the Cuz05 Beastscale, a weighted average of height, strength, league, name, pace, blackness, sex appeal and several other factors.
Here he is beasting the ball in the net.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RefnY42d5eQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RefnY42d5eQ)

Pure beast.

Next up, we have a team goal, because BPL is the beastliest of leagues and a goal that comes from several beasts at once is probably the beastliest goal of all. Passing then moving then passing then moving again is so OP in this game, let me tell you. If you pass and move with beasts, your passing and moving is even more OP beasty.
Scored here by Cazorla, who I won't dwell on. He's short, Spanish, kind of skinny as you can see, pretty slow as well, 70 something, well unbeasty. He only rates 43 on the Cuz05 Beastscale, 40 of the points come from his league, 3 because he has red on his card. If he at least had a f**k off great beard. Anyway. He scores it but you can see, Bentekkers shows his silky side with the assist. Bit poncy of him really, he should've just beasted it in himself after a flip flop or a rapunzal, costs him a bit on the Beastscale.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KN-At_lgI74 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KN-At_lgI74)

Thanks for watching, don't forget to hit that button and like and subscribe. Tune in next time when we'll be uncovering more hidden beasting gems. WAPOOSHLAGOOZAHHH!!!

Post by: Kiwi on December 15, 2015, 09:45:04 am
Damn!

Now, I can accept that he's a 'decent' player. But this clearly shows that EA have some absolutely daft 'mechanics' at play! And by this, I mean in the chemistry system. How the freakin' hell can a 52-chemistry team, string those passes together ???.

Also, I can totally accept his OP loan players can score - no issues there. But again, there's no way they should hold that team together. The bronzes in that defense - 'pacey' at 69, 59, 52 & FUThead's 'Defender rating' is 63, 62, 61 ... no way they should be playing like that. EA should MASSIVELY penalise a team like - defensive positioning should be completely out of whack!

Would love to do an experiment ... get someone to create a team of nobodies from your club - 50 / 70 / 100 chem ... whatever - and then you play with them, having no idea who they are. But, like this guy did - stick in one or 3 OP players - all have to be in the front line.

Psychologically we all have that thought - "my team should slaughter this team", etc. But, if you truly have no idea that the LB is 69 pace, do you actually think that & play accordingly? Do you actually feel that lack of pace?

Playing IF Ginter with 63 pace at RB ... genuinely can say I don't feel that lack of pace.

Post by: Cuz on December 15, 2015, 10:41:13 am
Crazy innit. I remember the game pretty well and I was very overconfident, I rushed a lot of things and wasn't that patient or clinical with my passes. What really stuck in my mind were the 2 nailed on chances I have with Correa from the left in the 1st half, at 0-0 and at 0-1 I think. Missed both and I was pretty shocked, he always scores those. But then up the other end, couldn't tackle him, Tevez must be on 3 chem? No obvious lack of pace, control, strength, finishing from him. His defending as well, you can see when I start to get some things together, he's actually hopeless, diving in etc. How the hell he managed to keep me out in the 1st half.... smh. Just really weird, played teams like that before and totally dismantled them. I think it was an end of season game...
Oh and then we lose connection, :D. I thought he might've quit while he was ahead because at 3-2, I reckon he was done for, I'd broken it then. Erm, mate, it doesn't work like that, you lose, lol.
So ultimately it all counted for nothing.

Cheers for the appreciation mate :)

Funny thing/insight into my OCD with these things. That Kroos goal timing, spent aaages on that, adjusting by the tiniest increments, then one of the preceding clips corrupted and I had to snip it in again. The result, the timing of the beat on Kroos' striking of the ball is roughly 0.05 seconds out... I almost bothered correcting it...

Actually, another funny thing. There was a lot of these sort of videos on GTA, the top YTers like Vanoss and such, really take great care with the timing of various things. I couldn't understand why most of the YT people I knew of around the GTA racing scene just laid music over the top of their video like whatever. Some of the guys watched mine and were like wow, love the way you've timed the music to the start countdown. Well, er... why the hell would you not?! Lol. (Slightly disappointed that they hadn't noticed all the other beats I'd tied in)...
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI

Yeah - agreed ... why would you not?!?!

Over the last ... many, many years ... creating videos for various aspects - mate's wedding (I was the best man), kid's birthdays (obvious one that :D), did a 12 month review of various activities for our church (man, that's a LONG time ago!). The thing is, the various tools used over the years, to create these ... :o :o! Apple really revolutionised this - in some ways made it so simple. I'm not a huge fan - had an iMac for years and the kids have rarely created anything of note on it.

I can remember that 12 month thing ... holy moly! Had to use include some flash animations, videos & pics from plenty people, and then snippets of info ... ended up even using PowerPoint. It was a hilarious mash-up of all these tools.

AND THEN ... I had to render this! Even on a bulky PC it took overnight & then still crashed. Had to break down into quarters. Unfortunately (as I'm sure you know) the rendering also screwed up with the audio sync! I can laugh now but boy, back then it was infuriating :D.

What was supposed to be a little hobby, turned out to 100+ hours of work. It was insane :D!

Pretty ridiculous options on Upload Studio. Even the sound level between the intro and the corresponding splash screens ... really quite poor. Could not add a screenshot, and that's pretty much the max number of items you can add. Not impressed.

Good grief, that last one is a scorcher.
I've been unable to fathom out the PSs movie editor. Doesn't seem to be a lot of options there either. Considering we're looking at a high end, current gen bit of kit and you have to actually d/l an app to get it, I expected something more. Like, you know, a proper movie editor. Seems light years behind the utterly basic and free Windows Movie Maker that I've been using.
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Kiwi on January 09, 2016, 09:08:18 am
I do like that one - kid passed and milliseconds before he got the ball, I noticed Neuer move forward. It was basically a quick, hard finesse and it looks like he hits the ball slightly different.

Movie Maker - damn! Have not used that in years ... off he runs to download the latest version. I did like the fast forward/slowing down that you did - just some of those basic items that are missing in Upload Studio. And agreed - they are light years behind as you say.
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Cuz on January 09, 2016, 09:28:52 am
Be nice if you could transition the speed changes, they feel a bit sudden to me. Technically you could, since you can type in the multiplier down to fractions but you'd be basically simulating a speed up/slow down with a ton of tiny separate clips, something I cannot be bothered to try :D
It's a good basic editor but when you get into fancier stuff, like transitions, effects, subtitles, it's pretty rubbish. I really try to keep it simple and go for a classier sort of look, once you start getting arty, you end up looking very cheap and generic with it. Mate of mine did fishing videos with it for a little while, he'd say you can tell in a split second when other people in his genre were on Movie Maker, you recognise the effects and transitions straight away, lol. There's quite a few wipe transitions and they all look terrible. I did use one on this GTA vid, for cheesy comic effect tho, hehe. It's right near the start so you don't have to watch the whole 25min... You'll spot it straight away, it sums up MMs wider options perfectly...
(actually lots of speed ups later on, timed beautifully to the music :D)

Post by: Kiwi on January 09, 2016, 09:47:47 am
LOL ... some of the footage in there is hilarious (the car park around the 3 min mark). Like the movement too whilst walking around. All those small things, make it a better video & agree with you, rather than overusing transitions/effects/etc, the video stays more classy.

I remembered now that I used Sony Vegas as the tool. Was quite powerful what you could do with it, but there's definitely that line with how anal you get on micro-editing.

But then ... how OCD always kicks in ... hey! :D
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Cuz on January 09, 2016, 10:44:38 pm
That kind of OCD can be good on these ;)
Hours spent timing a split second thing make all the difference. The FIFA one only took me a couple evenings but some of the earlier GTA ones took me weeks. 0.05 seconds out and I'd be 'nope', lol.... It can be out by 0.05 or 1 whole second and it's hard to tell the difference but get it right on point and it just goes zing!

Lost to my Brother Gills last night then, grrr. I woz robbed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egFWV70izkI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egFWV70izkI)

Also saved the vid from my one of my worst ever defeats. It's not the scoreline, it's that this guy was awful. The only thing more awful was my team. This is after losing the previous 4 games I think, so I probably didn't do myself any favours. Theme of the match is set straight away when the kick off routine I do successfully every single game, fails to come off. After that, it's continuous baffling pass selection, an inability to defend in any useful fashion and an utter lack of effectiveness in attack.
This was exactly what 3 of my 6 games were like last night. 2 others, the defence worked okay but I still majorly lacked attacking bite, tho it wasn't quite so bad against Gills. The 6th ofc, I dropped Chiellini and clicked into gear.

Personal highlight is around the 9-10min mark. His incredible brilliance at riding tackles and following his comical 2nd goal, Nainggolans pure genius at avoiding passes directly to him.

Proper quality goals there BB. Got me tempted to put him in a team...

On the other side of the coin, I saved a couple classics last night.

This game I won, thankfully. He only had a couple attempts on goal, this wasn't one of them.

This game I did not win, all the blame goes here, seconds after I'd taken the lead... It literally made me laugh out loud and completely threw my concentration from then on, sporadically giggling to myself and shaking my head.

This team came up in the TOTY final I played last night that was probably the strongest I've faced on 16. I thought, I'll tape this (because all the SHA/HUN amused me as well), and hit share. Pressed it again after the game to save and then, when I went to upload it, it turned out I'd saved the end of the previous game and the team screen from the final instead. Bit weird but hey, it was a boring game anyway. The 2nd half of the semi was much more interesting.
So here we are, 45min of me being awesome against a shabby 5atb user in a TOTY semi final, followed by a look at the team I played after. Skip to the end to see it :D

Included, at 3.50, is an interesting hospital foul on Banega that obviously goes unpunished because it injures the untouched Palacio instead of the very touched Banega, laying in a heap on the floor.

Saved a few vids lately but been updating in game stories from my phone on lunch breaks and haven't been able to add video evidence.

So...

James recently scored his 100th goal for me, overtaking the now underused Palacio as my clubs top scorer. He seemed to be stuck on 99 for ages and kept coming up in the opening scenes as being on the brink of a landmark, or whatever that thing says. Since then he's added 5 more so it must've been weighing on his mind, lol.
The highlight gave me a crowd celebration when I 1st watched it, which was nice, so I bothered to replay it a couple times till it showed it again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9J35jNWdyI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9J35jNWdyI)

Tevez is the man atm, he's been on near enough a goal a game form over the last week, which is fantastic from LCAM for me, probably the best return I've ever had from that position. He still sits on 1 in 2 for around 180 games, impressive stuff and a nice justification of putting him out there when it could easily be a waste of his abilities.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdU6osclTTk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdU6osclTTk)

Could be slightly better if not for Matuidi somehow stealing from him with a bizarre OG.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOv_on6RGWs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOv_on6RGWs)

Coutinho, unfortunately on the way out, was a shining ray of light in my dour Brazilian experiment and well worth building the other team I had for him. Glad I finally got to try him out. Standard stuff here, lightning movement on the ball.

Latest selection of choice cuts.

8 minutes into his 1st game back in the CCAM role, James does this and underlines how much more he prefers it there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6oWnZgbCas (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6oWnZgbCas)

As mentioned, I had an absolutely awful final where I seemed to be in charge of the Keystone Cops until the 87th min.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I7nIl4yPpE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I7nIl4yPpE)

Crazy game against a relatively poor opponent who was really not helped by the fact that everything was going my way. 4 nil up after 37min I eased up so he wouldn't quit. Then this opportunity arose...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0ZayV1whGc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0ZayV1whGc)

Basically saved this just so I could get the scene where they all pose for the victory photo, for possible future use. It's the 2nd half and extra time of my lead boot final win. If you're interested enough to watch, it should be fairly clear where I'm struggling to do much of use and also plain that my back line are not at all interested in letting him score, with or without my help, although the 1st half offered a much more obvious display of this sort of thing. There's also a few examples of where he shoots himself in the foot by not going for the jugular and the palpable difference that Kroos makes when he comes on.

That's a power free kick that. I've been doing it more, main benefit is that they don't miss by as much so they don't look make me like such an idiot. One thing I keep forgetting to do is short lob it to a free man when they put someone on the line.

Yeah - impressive FK mate - especially given how close it is & the massive shot power Tevez has.

I think so many people are taking FKs too quickly, because most people run back now. I have tried the pass to the side of the wall too, given that people rarely sprint out with a man.

Also, given that at times the wall is useless from 30+ yards (and people driving them), I select the side man & step out just before he's about to take the FK. Surprisingly effective when a number of people pass straight to that player.

I had a classic earlier, where I was a few yards outside the box trying to get the ball under control and maybe get a run at goal or a long shot off... but the damned ref was in the way, and I just kept bumping into him...  >:(
Finally got round the ref, got a shot off and it was a cracker, although the GK did very little to try and stop it.. it kind of bounced off his stomach on it's way into the net.

It was only on the replays that I realised that the GK was Santi Cazorla, and the nuisance ref was in fact his GK...

Oh how I laughed.

Good clips there. The 2 fouls are hilarious Kiwi, both utterly preposterous for completely opposite reasons.
Is that Xbox vid site not just a vid host like YT? So a direct link pasted into the url brackets doesn't work I presume.

Gameplay was atrocious for me last night, totally pointless. Thought it was going to be alright, 1st game was a 5-1 romp and very nice indeed. Tevez started the rout early on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci4oIFKUw1g (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci4oIFKUw1g)

Then this happened in the semi final, which was a fairly bollocks experience.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulHswjHQTek (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulHswjHQTek)

Then the full lead boot extravaganza kicked in and I lost 4 on the trot. One to an apocalyptically bad chem team, he had 7/4 on shots, I had 17/14. I lost 3-2.
Finally scraped a win together and thought I'd try loading a different game and coming back to FIFA to see if it shook anything loose. Plants vs Zombies. One little hiccup, I never went back to FIFA.

Off topic but whatever. Heard tell that there may be a wee dip in the market this wknd, due to FUT United, whatever that is. So I have a plan, when my coin balance matches the cost of FIF Godin, I will get him. That'll probably happen at the wknd if he doesn't drop, as long as he doesn't rise. I have, of course, NOT attributed the awful performances of my teams to the minor 'improvements' I made to them...

Good goal Nop - build up & finish!

Part of me is thankful that Tevez is not at Juve - or any other 'major' league. Coz then he'd be in every single team :D.

Cuz - I'm really not sure how/why a team like that, can play/compete like. Some of those first time touches & passes - IMO should never, ever happen - to that extant. Thankfully, there is some common sense in the shooting department, re: their stats.

Oo, that's pretty cool. Almost makes up for the fact that the save function only does a paltry 5 minutes :P
Does the Xbox have to be on standby or anything?
Seems arbitrary to me that the limits are short either way . We were a bit miffed when we all got PS4s for NG GTA, Considering our Sky boxes can do an hour. Wondered whether it was something to do with YTs default limit being 15min. Surely it should be able to process a longer clip.

No, sorry I didn't meant the content on your console, I meant the content recorded on your console.  Xbox saved clips are saved online under your GT, for a temporary period, and if not saved then they are eventually removed.
If you 'save' them then they are retained - locally I always assumed, but clearly online also, if XBOXDVR.COM are able to access them (which they are).  In fact you can filter your clips to show only those you have 'saved' if you wish.

As you can see mate - that didn't work.

Is there no admin setting to 'allow html' for individuals' users profiles?

It looks like it's after the "src=" section. Can you edit and try post in my format.

Yes, my post seems to have the embedded URL twice.  I have removed the 'second' URL and saved it, and not the url has disappeared from the post (but shows in the edit.

You pretty much have access to everything as a global mod. I've checked your profile against mine - nothing materially different (you can do this too with your access).

Have you tried to edit using the little icon to the bottom right of the post, and not the Modify option?

Goal from Bebe last night.. fantastic counter attack...

This one shows the whole move including including a cracking cross field pass from Rafael to Pizzi

This one shows the finish from Bebe better, struck on the turn...

Was the first of 5.  Gotta love beating people 5-0 with a NR side.  ;D

This was the 4th... a nice little number from Pizzi..

Good to see they're working mate. Simply daft what it took to get working. Anyway ...

Great play there mate. It's amazing that the lobbed through-ball - especially cross-field, can be a great option. Just a shame so many delinquents have abused it in the past!

Love the movement by IF Sergi Roberto (great card btw, card stats don't look impressive - very underrated!) - he's the one that lays it back to Neymar. I like the way Iniesta could've past to him initially, but it went to Marchisio who lofted it wide. Overall, like the interplay and the first time (finesse) finish.

LOL ... Mexican Spanish ... simply love it! Get so bored of English commentary,  even though I think Martin Tyler is great.  It's all just so repetitive - probably is the same in Mexican-Spanish,  I just don't even know it now.

I highly recommend it. Even the pronunciation of certain names is hilarious - none better than Sokratis,  the CB. They say his full name - Sokratis Papastathopoulos - every time he touches the ball. This is in between the generic "controls the ball" phrases, or whatever.  The shouting of the goal scorers names too - some have a few different ways,  is also entertaining.

Here's Tevez as he takes what seemed an eternity to 'pick his spot..'

David Silva did this...  If you watch it on x0.5 speed the commentary is great!
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!! (thanks Kiwi!)

And not often I share a conceded goal (why would you!?) but this is surely THE definitive 'run from edge of box' corner routine from Alves?

Most of a game that really did amuse me to the very core. Not sure there's much of note in here football wise but the 'style' of my opponent and the way the game played out (despite painful lag) really did tickle my fancy.
Missed the team screen but it was an almost nice hybrid consisting of Jonas, Taison, Marlos, Teixeira, some Serie A chaps and so on.
Oh yeah, 55th minute Higuain hits the post when, if he'd scored, it would probably have been the best case of 'how'd you like them apples?' ever.
Oh also, 69th min, one of his CBs appears to have a sock problem.

@Kiwi - loving the Mexican Spanish mate!  Love it..

It is fantastic, hey! Honestly, I feel it adds a new dimension to the game hearing them, learning the relevant word & them players names :D! Eventually, you'll be repeating the words like za-pa-ta-zo ... (yes, with the slight pauses) which means "fierce kick" btw :D. The shouting of names when scoring still gets me joining me! Per your first one ... a quick "Carlitos Tevez" ... "GOOOOOOOOL" ... "Teveeeezz" ... "goooool" "Carlitos". Hilarious stuff!

Cuz ... that is probably the most painful game to play - lag + daft opponent! After the first few minutes, I was wondering if he'd even pass the ball. Obviously he was not struggling with lag with those runs & skill moves. Good first goal there too & run with Higuain - didn't know what was coming when you mentioned "55th min" :). Also, nice try in baiting him there at the end :D.

Thanks mate ... it's one of the great benefits of years of co-op play. Once the kid knocked it wide to Neymar, I was controlling him and made the run back in. Having played quite a bit of solo games over these last few weeks, you simply know that at times, the AI is good, however nothing beats 2 human brains controlling players on the field.

Well now, I quite enjoyed that game tbh. My players were zipping the ball about quite nicely, if not always where intended, the runs were good, I felt quite confident about beating him and scoring a few...

This one, on the other hand... A classic encounter of the turd kind.

Understood. Maybe I'm just getting old :). That visual lag hurts my brain & I simply get annoyed because I think people should be 'better' at the game. If it's too easy, I see that as a waste of time. That sounds quite 'elitist' ... yep, it is. Oops. \_(ツ)_/

I suppose there are different levels of 'them'. That dude the runner/skiller simply didn't have a clue. I like my ... cannon fodder ... with a little more substance :D.

Let's just say the lag was more off-putting than the basement-quality level of the player.

Naah mate ... your build-up play shown in your vids, definitely shows you ain't cannon fodder. There's a quality level of football - our brains are wired that way - the "play beautiful" makes more sense to us than most.

IMO, the majority of times we lose, is due to the opponent try to abuse an aspect of the game. For example, corners ... when the 2nd player is there, how many times does your opponent NOT pass to him? At least 70% of the times, its the short pass, run or skill into the box ... waiting for a penalty, or ... another corner. Rinse. Repeat.

Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Kiwi on February 04, 2016, 09:00:22 am
No - thankfully I very rarely have the man short - not exactly sure why. Even then, I simply cross it.

On co-op, we do have a routine. A number of opponents are focused on the man outside the box & very often leaves the man closest to the keeper, unmarked. 2nd person controls him & the kick taker drives it in, whilst the forward moves towards the ball and slightly away from the goal. A finesse shot has proven to be 'most useful'. :D

In solo, I generally use the built-in tactics and hope for the best. Well, if they're not covering the player outside the box. I always drive the ball there, if he's not marked.
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Nophut on February 04, 2016, 09:04:08 am
I either go short, or the man outside, like you say.
Pinging it into the box and hoping for the best rarely, or rather never, pays dividends.

If I am playing a dribbling maniac, or an HP t**t, I start going short.

I have no shame against those w****rs.
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Kiwi on February 04, 2016, 09:06:33 am
He he ... The "do unto others" approach ... :D

For me the mundane "rinse. repeat" is the issue. I don't mind people taking them short, but once you've conceded 3,4,5,6 corners in a row, I start getting bored & simply slide. Especially if the **** is time-wasting.
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Cuz on February 04, 2016, 09:47:24 am
I just bang it in the box and try to keep it away from the GK, varying power. Too lazy to bother doing anything else. SIF Aduriz scored my 2nd in a 2-0 cup final win yesterday on one. I have some good headerers of the ball so it does get me the odd goal.

So, this was interesting ... at first. Get a FK, he goes to stand on the line. I'm focused on changing to another player, and then back to Dani.

When I look back, there is ... erm ... no posts ...

... take the free kick thinking it will all come right. Nope - gets worse. After 5 min and 2 pauses - nothing.

You can see near the end of this clip, that the players start moving to separate corners. End up all the players - bar the 2 players we're controlling - are on opposite ends. I simply quit.

Realisation last night. I had overcooked the cup. As posted, I've had some pretty bad sessions in it lately, continued in the same vein, unable to win 2 games in a row. So I decided to make my long awaited return to Div 1 and get that relegation over and done with.

Very, very tight game to start with, both of us were possibly a bit lead booted. I did manage to hold the upper hand in possession and chances, moreso as the game went on. 84th minute, Pastore managed to get a shot in which was parried to main man, TIF Higuain, bang- 1 nil. 3 pts of the necessary 9 acquired.
Second game was much the same. Sweatiest of sweaty opponents with a no link LW in a strong BBVA side. Slugged it out all the way round to the 90th minute when, in the nick of time, Pogba tiptoed past 2 men in the box and bashed it in off the GK. 1 nil again, 6 pts of 9 acquired.

So, 1 win away from safety and we come to this-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9Zu9xT2oZQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9Zu9xT2oZQ)

Well. That was a turn up.

So I returned to the cup to see how things were in that department now...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64vaqRUeTt8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64vaqRUeTt8)

Pretty good, my biggest win on FUT 16. If you don't want to sit through an entire match, I summed up the key feature here. I was wondering at one point if the other guy even had a goalkeeper.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eTxVuRMTgU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eTxVuRMTgU)

The big cup challenge tho, win 2 games on the trot. That worked out fairly nicely too. Strange game really, much like that 8 nil, kind of scrappy with a lot of mis-chosen passes and weird launched through balls hit half on the turn. I was getting so much space and overloads for days in his final third but was having a vaguely difficult time turning them into goals, so I quite deliberately slowed down in that area of the pitch and started looking for Higuains runs... You can skip through to about 7 minutes to see where it begins to pay off.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Px4uCog9Og (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Px4uCog9Og)

Very vid heavy post ofc, would take you a fair bit of time to watch all that. Mainly I saved the 2 full cup games so i can pick them apart for a possible 2nd montage vid. The league game I just wanted to watch back myself.

Good stuff Cuz - well done! Love the catching out of the keeper! Genuinely think we don't see that enough. Also ... his 2nd goal - RL managers would constantly have a 'jaw-drop' look to them, if strikers tackled like that! And ... how the heck was that not a penalty in the last minute ??? The guy seems to be an expert at sliding!

Re: the big win - with the keeper in the same kit (looks like it), yeah - would also think where was the goalkeeper. :D. Some quality strikes there by Kroos. Don't often see 5 goals by a midfielder - most from distance.

Good goals with Higuain there too! Slowing down is powerful at times, given how manic some games go.
Title: Re: Videos - Goals & the joys of AI
Post by: Cuz on February 10, 2016, 09:05:35 am
Was a couple crazily unpunished slide tackles in those games, I was quite taken aback. Pretty sure there was a tackle in the box by me in there somewhere that had me breathe a sigh of relief.

Kroos wise, playing at CCAM, he's really more of a fwd so 5 goals, tho pretty spectacular, is not quite so outlandish as it would be from a true CM. Not that scoring from there was ever a problem for him when at CDM :D
Something was well wrong with his GK tho. Couple of Kroos' were down to the guy bringing him out but there was the Isco goal that I hit in 2 minds, not sure whether I was going near post or far, went central and expected the GK to gather it... nope. Actually, even the 2nd Kroos one, GK came but I didn't chip, I just hit it.

Was pleased to get the hat trick with Higuain, there were a few chances during the game that I expected him to finish and he didn't. He's been a little off the boil in front of goal lately but a couple hat tricks have kept his average up. Still on a -7 goal difference, at least 50 games sitting around that now.

Incidentally, vaguely hoping to sell FIF Godin at some point. He does the job but so did NIF Godin. Might be looking at SIF Pjanic, a player that's always intrigued me... Pogba would go to the B team, making them more or less on the same level as the A team, might have to start calling them the ying team and yang team...

So ... this comes from a draw in the new D1 season - mention this as we (suppose I) come up against this guy regularly. He's not the worst opponent - plays with the noobish, paciest Serie A team (ATT: Anderson - Higuain - Cuadrado / MID: Marchisio - Pereyra - Nainggolan / DEF: Zuniga - Manolas - Barzagli - Abate & Handanovic. Average pace is 84 but I guess at least he doesn't have Doumbia in there ... ::)

Anyhoo ... he is effective. High pressure, decent skills, quick passing ... therefore tough to play against. Now, we played in co-op and scraped a 1-0 win. But, the game was a bit off - I had noticed and said this before to the kid & he agreed that we had a few weird things happen in our game too.

This happened in my game (apologies for the 'stuttering'):

Red!

Now I know I'm aggressive on the pitch, and I most certainly know when I screw up. This pissed me off ... who was the ref? Mzizi ... freakin' Mzizi! WTF is he doing back refereeing - thought he had been demoted to linesman & he stays there!

A few minutes earlier Dani did do this in the game - yes, another driven one. Kinda saved it simply because of the amount of movement on the ball. Definitely caught Handanovic out :D

Lovely all round play from Dembele.. control, set, outside of foot, dink.. goal..

Just a nice goal... finished by non-UP Dele Alli  ;D

This little solo effort so deserved a goal...

And a lovely little OTT throughy for N'Jie

Just loving this Spurs side at the moment... SIF Kane with the tap in

For us he's one of those players that does incredibly well in the right team. Also, I think he has to be the main man in the team too.

Now that he's back starting, his record is closing in on a 1:1 ratio - after today's games he's on 350 from 379.

Nice one Cuz. Love 'em driven FK's especially when they are so well placed.

I got a nice one with IF Adrien Silva yesterday. Still not used anyone better at driven free kicks than Raul Meireles though.

Nice build up, cheeky finish.
About the only half decent thing to come out of the last god knows how many games of crap...

Damn! That is a rare occurrence! Funnily enough I was watching the FUThead goals of the month and the 1st spot was a scorpion kick. Wasn't hit the best but I did wonder that given how rare these are, it would be way up there on best goals.

Good one mate!

Had some fun with Eriksen yesterday - 'shooting from distance'. First 2 goals from game 1 and the last was an equaliser late in the 2nd game.

The 2nd goal is my favourite ... I like trying for the hold-up & lay-off, with the first time strike ...

Still not been playing an awful lot, only had 3 or 4 goes at it in the last fortnight. Same story each time more or less, no win or loss streaks, some good games, some crap games, no trophies, struggles against BS etc etc. Not much lag tho, which is nice, although that doesn't rule out 'weird' gameplay.
Scored 2 goals last night that gave me a chuckle.

This one is all about the title.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PloSjbFMxY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PloSjbFMxY)

Very satisfying indeed. Fella had a pretty interesting Benz/Ibra 4222 hybrid and liked to use a skill or 10. I was 1 nil up for quite a time and when he equalised he gave it the old shush to the camera. Bit OTT for a 1 all. I skipped straight through the aftermath of 2-1 in ET but let him have the full glory after the above. I basically rinsed him in ET and pulled him to bits.

Then, later, this happened. 1st time I've seen it happen on 16, for or against.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yAb9_mSHNM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yAb9_mSHNM)

I went for a flair finish, as you do, but not being a pro skiller, or even a noob skiller, I pressed the wrong button.

Hardly been playing recently, not so much a falling out of love with it as a re-falling in love with GTA race creation. Had a session last night tho. Gameplay was very strange, not sluggish at all but somehow wafty, like the AI assistant was watching something else out of the corner of his eye. 3 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats. One of the defeats an utterly futile rout where I might as well have not bothered pressing a button. Both draws against the run of play, feeling like the game would not accept any other result, regardless of my goal scoring. One of the wins a shoe on the other foot type deal where Neuer's gloves had an extra, invisible 6ft radius.

Reason we're in this thread is because I scored this beautiful team goal, 9 players involved in the move from corner defence to game clinching goal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEB1mxSjb0o (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEB1mxSjb0o)

And this here, my 2nd draw. I do recognise, watching it back, that I was overplaying in and around his box but I still felt I was hard done by. I get numerous great chances to score but he gets such a huge array of last ditch tackles and blocks. Then, at the other end, I can't get near him at key moments, I do get a load of interceptions but if he has the ball at his feet, it was really, really difficult to move my players where I needed them. That and the various dodgy touches I have pretty much sum up the whole session.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2m30XTdT-c (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2m30XTdT-c)

Both videos do show what a joy it is to play with that team and that formation. With all 5 mids and both full backs having great ball control and short passing, the quick 1 and 2 touch combinations to break down the opposition midfield unfold so nicely. And in the 2nd vid, there's Jackson Martinez showing how much he both benefits from and complements all that ball movement.

Another FK from Dani Alves. You may notice the start of my celebration - was pretty pissed off as I had a couple of FK's before this one where he stood on the line & another (hit more powerful than this one!) was headed off the line. Needless to say I wanted him to know that I was happy this one went in.

If anything could describe FUT16, this match would be it. Crazily bad defending, ludicrous own goal, sweaty goals, referees on crack, goalkeepers with impossible reactions and a good old fashioned rage quit!

This was the first game last night. I kick off ... and this happens.

Ozil getting shoved over in the box, he gets it to is IF Gervinho (he had Felipe Anderson - IF Gervinho - Salah leading his 84-paced team), and the keeper decides to duck out the way of the ball. Great.

Oh ... love the switching too! Not that Huth is going to do much to catch up ...

Now this was getting frustrating ... leading 2-1 at this stage, with 10-odd min to play. Bit of back & forth on this one, but have got the timestamp close as possible. I can semi-understand my (first) defender kick Aubamatwat's foot ... ok. I can also semi-forgive EA the crap of my defence out of sorts ... but the whole 'striker got 1mm on the ball before wiping out the CB' thing is just daft ...

Needless to say he scored in the 90th min to win ... Great.

Edit ... damn - the timestamp is not saving per the site - FF to 15 sec.

Another gripe on inconsistency ...
- Around 4 second mark - am ok with the shoulder on Depay - it is football.
- Around 13 sec mark ... Depay now running with the ball gets pinged for the foul. Huh?

Only played a couple of games last night, was just too tired, but my first game in the Sane TOTS cup this brought on a rage quit against Aubameyang and co. Was already 2-0 up thanks to Gundogan and a ridiculous 30 yarder from Draxler:

Yeah mate - this game has it's challenges.

I'll call this one 30 seconds of EA ... erm ... joys.

Clearance off the line
Hit the post
Taken out on the follow up - hits the post again
Button mash for the simple tap-in - nope!
Keeper's limp throw (he would not have been happy) followed up his awful attempt to control
Finally, run with Pogba but his shot is thwarted by an invisible wall.

Hey ... I think we won that one though ... Great!

Pulled this volley out the bag in the 2nd round of the new French cup to equalise, in a game I eventually won on penalties. Also happened to be against a friend off the forums that I've played a few times in tournaments and with in pro clubs.

Played our last few games of early access. Brought in Rakitic to bolster the midfield. Have not had someone with quality long shot/shot power stats - took this chance pretty early in the game. Looks good when it's low :)

So this is the secret of Totti's durability for all these years!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1tw0kexfpc

Had an even better one where Andreas Samaras shot with one leg straight through the over and in the animation of shooting, his right leg that took the scoring shot morphed into his left leg! Unfortunately messed up the video of that though.

Played my first match on FUT since Tuesday and on the new patch tonight. A friendly against one of the Community Writers from the forums. He normally totally outplays me, but this was an open, more even match than usual. We both had teams with players that needed to get loyalty for the hybrid SBC's. Ended up in an exciting 1-1 draw and a penalty shootout. I scored my first three and then my goalkeeper makes a mess of things. Or did he!!!!!!!

Okay ... so this is a FIRST!!!

Attempt to find a game, but for some reason I could not progress past the initial match up screen. He backs out and I check the controller - all good - 20 seconds later I try again.

Everything ok - progress, kits, see his team ...

Get into the game - I check which player I'm controlling - no cursor. Um ok ... game kicks off - my players are moving but I ain't controlling ...

I put the controller down, call the kid - he just laughs. I could pause the game but no controlling - simply watching the AI play against my opponent - even comes close with some decent build up too ;D:

I had to quit the game.

New feature after maintenance? :D ::)
