Title: FUT '17 - In-game Stories
Post by: Kiwi on September 22, 2016, 09:11:34 pm
So, onto the next iteration ...

For me, the game play at this moment - based on 8 (offline) games tonight - is simply superb. Yep - haven't we all heard this before so early on!

It's not like every game was slow, meticulous passing, etc ... not at all. There were errors, misplaced passes, great off the ball runs, not a lot of free kicks (!!!), not 1 penalty either (!!!).

Interestingly some games went by slowly, but in a few the tempo was quite different - quicker passing, needing to concentrate more.

Oh ... and one of the funniest aspects is the AI doing fake throw-ins ... I got caught out a few times! :D

Had a lengthy session tonight - part 2 of the 10-hr early access stint. Continued offline to maximise the time, but after winning D10 and D9 & needing 2 points (from a number of games), decided to attempt Online Seasons.

First game was tough going - managed a 1-1 draw - but he had the better of the game. Then, won in a row to win the title. I will say that only 1 was rally easy - the rest, we were made to work for the wins.

Last game was simply horribly laggy! At one point I counted 5 seconds between screen movements. Thankfully he must have done something (maybe he stopped watching his 1080p YT vids) - 2nd half was a bit better.

One thing that stood out online ... the amount of times the opponent got the ball back! Don't like this aspect. But ... still not 1 penalty and the amount of fouls are very few!

Oh ... and corners are more fun now too :D

Few days away with work, got back on an early flight and home before 6PM. Kid waiting eagerly to get some co-op games in, after he's had a good run of games himself. Oh, and also he's spent time doing some skill games too. So, he's already got the low driven finish down pat.

Together with a decent run, after the early access and today's games - sitting well in D7:

Ripped apart some poor guy - 8-2. He had a Serie A team with Joe Hart in goals. Was fun :P

Not played much tonight - record of 3-2-1. First defeat in the last game of the evening :(

A few interesting games. One was against your really typical pace abuser. But, he was completely ineffective. It felt like whatever he was trying he was going nowhere. Surprisingly, he actually changed his game style and became more effective - was good - both sides.

Got our first penalties - well 2 of them in the one game & another in the next one. Still haven't conceded one.

One other thing - fair amount of injuries! In one game I injured 2 of his players ... oops ;D

I am enjoying the game so far, although people are now starting to find the weak parts of the engine already it seems!
On Thursday I won the vast majority of games I played, reached a couple of FUT Chamoions finals, semi in draft. But yesterday I couldn't win to save my life ending with a record of 1-2-6!
Played one today and won so hopefully this will continue.
So far I have made teams around the guys that I need to give chemistry to in the Hard and Ultimate Squad Builders. Have finished playing with a 433(2) that got Mitroglou, Pizzi, Danilo, Loren and Subasic their loyalty. Also finished with a 4411 that got Keko, Hugo Mallo, Oczipka, Brandt and Goretzka their loyalty. Realised that to get Choupo Moting and Huntelaar their loyalty in the Ultimate squad would probably require Goretzka again so instead bought a Geis and converted him for total 2k with Goretzka going for 4.5k.

New squads are a 442 with Lopez and Bou upfront, Corluka and Pejcinovic at CB. That will complete the Hard squad builder once they've all played ten games. Also have made a 433(5) containing Tremoulinas, Lichtsteiner and a second Subasic card that are needed for the Ultimate squad builder. That false 9 also contains my first discard IF of the game. IF Iago Falque in at RW.

Enjoying the game so far, and struggling to score as many goals as I'd like. Have pulled off a number of 1-0 wins and lost games I should have never lost. Is a bit annoying when people are just trying to snap your players in half all game, and the corner tactic of this year seems to be developing.

This weekend was the start for FIFA17 for me. I created a 352 and 433 team and both didn't play the way I hoped for. So I changed back to 4312, an all time favorite for me.

First team:

Serie A meets Primera Division.

Zarate: 4 WF/4 Skill. And is one word OP: 7 out 7.
IF Benedetto: wanted to try him out. 5 star weak foot show. Lethal but not as lethal as Zarate. Might replace him for Tevez . 1 out 4
DÁlessandro: probably doesn't need any introduction. 5 star skill and 4 star weak foot. 3 out of 7. Picked him up for 650 coins and he feels sooooooo great on the ball. Really teh star in my team

Belluschi: work horse on the left side. Strong link with the LB
Biglia: consistent as always. I am surprised how many times he penetrates the box despite his WR.
Jorginho: work horse on the right side

Mas: LB fast , decent physics, decent shooting and passing.
Rodriquez: solid as a rock, not so fast but good WR and linking with Mas possible
De Vrij: one of my RL favorites. Just had to put him in
Maggio: haven't used him for a long time. Good back in this formation as both backs will come forward a lot. You need high stamina and decent passing.

Viviano: never used him before but pretty solid

All in all a nice and affordable team. I won the last game with them against a pace **** with only 80+ paced players in it. 2 goals from d"Alessandro sealed the deal. Team felt coherent, I had 93% passing accuracy which is kind of amazing (against his 58%). Nevertheless I am having trouble with heavy skilling players. It seems that the roulette and fake shot are instant hits again. I am thinking of keeping this team for a bit, although I have coins to improve.

Will post team 2 shortly

Nice review Glad.

Weekend games started well and slowly drifted to mediocre. Managed to continue winning each division, until D3 hit & then it was tough - not surprised ;D. Only managed to stay up in D3 with a game to spare.

Last night's games (starting the new season) - pretty crap - ending on 0-1-3. Long time since we've been winless in a session :D.

Did buy in Tevez to put him in a 3412. First game he starts, scores in the 6th minute ;D. Didn't make much of a difference as we ended up losing that one. Good start though and he does look pretty impressive still, albeit not as fast.

Still haven't found the ideal team - hence trying out 3412 for now. Want to have something that's firing before getting to the 40 games this weekend - that's if we can even handle 10 of them :P.

do you guys think that the gameplay has changed a lot?

Last night I had a bad run, was faced with the usual suspects: all high paced and VERY high pressure teams. Running towards you and do the roulette every 10 seconds. Was not very enjoyable. It feels like FUT is full of the same scumbags and the gameplay is still supporting those idiots

I don't think the game play is that huge a change. But, there are some subtle changes that will affect us, in the sense that what we've done previously, we can no longer do.

The one example is hold the left trigger when taking long shots. I take a lot of long shots - always have. Now I forcefully need to remove this (now bad) habit. You can still use it, but it needs to be perfectly timed and in the right situation.

The other one that we've heard about, is using right trigger in the final 3rd of the pitch - don't do apparently, or once again, time it better.

Last night the kid wasn't feeling the best. I had a long trip out & was a little tired. But, thought I'd give it a run - 3-0 rage quit (hilarious OG forced the quit), 5-0 thumping & was 2-0 up at HT when the kid took over. 10 goals scored & 0 conceded, in a little under 200 mins. Games were in D4 btw - too many quits last season meant the relegation from D3.

We finished with the 3-2 win, and then I went on to win the next 3 as well for 6 wins out of 6 for the night and the D4 title win.

So ... my few games were either very well-timed, or co-op play is harder, against better opposition. Simply cannot take the Friday/Saturday's games that 'seriously' given you're flying through Divisions. Again, just subtle changes - normally we'd have a bit more time on the ball - now, especially in the final 3rd, you need to react a lot quicker.

Certainly is fun though ... would be disappointed if it was just easy to transition.

Oh ... and one thing ... lobbed throughballs are definitely not as OP. You've really got to time it right!
Title: Re: FUT '17 - In-game Stories

i also have to say, not big changes ... 2 things i realized, one now on defense you have to do that tacking not leave it to AI, in prev versions if you were running with the attacker side by side, and like charge him like shoulder by shoulder , the defender was snatching the ball, its very less now and you hv to do a timely button press ... to get the ball...

second, the fast players with mediocre finishing stats, are going 1 on 1 wiht keepers but not like scoring many of those chances.

kiwi - left bumper on long shots, why was that? what does the button do ? and the right bumper, is it "sprint" for you ? i do still use pes button combo so r1 is sprint for me
Title: Re: FUT '17 - In-game Stories

Agree OT. Strikers with low finishing not using the new "controlled" shot (or whatever you call it), are struggling to score.

In the past, holding left trigger (in default setup) would be more accurate for long shots. Now, it's still there but timing needs to be spot on, else the player attempts the shot whilst standing still - no real power behind it.

Been alternating between seasons and fut champions qualifiers with two separate teams. Have been using my untradable Mata at false 9 in a 433(5). In the seasons team, I have been getting all the players I needed their loyalty for the squad builders. I've been playing 442 and it's been really good. The previous team had Lisandro Lopez and Bou from the Argentine League, and the team I've just finished with had Huntelaar and the Italian Eder as strikers. Won Division 10 in the first season, survived in Division 9 in the last game in the first season in that division, but since then things have clicked and I've won 9, 8 and now am promoted from 7 without losing a game in those 3 seasons. Would be a spectacular collapse to not win division 7!
In the FUT Champions, I managed to lose 5 finals without getting qualification!

Since my disaster of a second day on 17, things have gone really well and I'm winning way more than i lose.

I'm enjoying the game. There are some annoying things, but I'm quite pleased at the moment. There are some worrying signs though. Two almost unstoppable corner videos techniques have appeared on youtube the past couple of days and doubtless more stuff like this will follow.

I've played 68 games now and have yet to score a free kick, yet to see a goalkeeper get sent off, but have nailed the new penalty system. I don't even look at the screen when I take them! Actually find it easier that way!

Damn Glad. Sorry to hear that.

A good day this side ...
Firstly, the kid finished off the Weekend League - impressive run with 6 wins out of 7, thus ending on "Gold 2". Rewards not paid out immediately - got to wait until they have validated/verified coz apparently some people are cheating (disconnect glitches or something). What's new ... ::)

Anyway, they are pretty decent rewards/packs! 45k coins with 1x Rare Gold pack + 2x Rare Mega Packs. Looking forward to the Mega ones - 30 items, think min are 26 and all rare.

Then, given that I heard that Draft was a little easier, we decided to play that as co-op. 4 comfortable wins, not conceding and 1 rage quit (he was 1 goal down after 15 min  ::)). Rewards were - 1x Rare Players Pack, 1x Mega Pack & 1x Jumbo Premium. OTW Renato Sanchez in the Rare Players pack - these packs have been good for us! Notable others int the packs were Bellerin for 20k and Zabaleta for 8k.

Next, finished off the last few games of Div 2, got the win needed for promotion but couldn't get the 2nd for the title. Funnily enough these 2 games were relatively calm compared to the Champions Cup games!

Had some more non-rare golds so did the BB-favourite SBC - 2x Gold Rare players ... pulled Alex Sandro, sold off the one we pulled in the opening days for a 15k profit there too.

Tried another draft (given 15k made from Sandro :P) ... not so good :D. Stuck with an 83-rated 87-chem team - managed 2 wins before a loss to a 90th min goal. Got 2 packs (Jumbo Gold and Premium Gold) but no one of note.

And that is enough FIFA! Let me at least half half a day on the weekend for ... erm ... nothing!

Kiwi one suspects the payouts are being held until the OTW are outta packs but saying people cheating is making them look like the good guys  ;)

Surely they must have know what would happen? Majority of PC matches are hackers in Division 1, so it was hardly a surprise that within half an hour of starting there were people on PC with 21-0-0 records!
Title: Re: FUT '17 - In-game Stories
Post by: Kiwi on October 10, 2016, 05:55:31 am
Well, given that there are 3 regional leaderboards, the kid made the comment that he doesn't understand why there is not top 100 prizes for each of those leaderboards.

Going on coin payouts alone, the top 100 will receive a total of 14.3M coins. If they had to times that by 3, it's a huge amount being flooded onto the market - every single weekend. And that's before the packs.

Now, the packs ... Rumours are that only the high TOTW packs will be untradeable. But, not confirmed and wouldn't be surprised if EA do an about turn & make them all untradeable. :D

LOL at the PC record after half an hour. How stupid must you be?!?!

Using a 442 which I have found to be pretty decent this year with a classic big man, little man front two and a destroyer and more attacking CM in the centre of midfield. Mandzukic and my untradable Javier Hernandez are going well. Have been promoted from Division 9 to Division 5 in consecutive season with three different 442 teams and looking good for Division 4.
In the cups, been using a 433(5) which is again decent this year. My untradable Mata is by far my top scorer and assister in Fifa 17 so far. Have modified that team to be all BPL from untradables and random non rares I have stashed in my club for the current FUT Champions Qualifier and am in the semi final with two tries left.
Have been looking to use discard IF's again and my 442 has IF Paletta at CB who is pretty decent. Also been using IF Iago Falque in the false 9 team before it was changed to BPL for the tournament.
I'm keeping games played, goals assists and cards stats for every single player I'm selling so by the end of FUT 17 I'll be able to account for every single player I've used at all!

Really decent session last night. Some good games, mixture of wins and losses but fun stuff with no lag so all good. Managed to get myself up to Division 4 now. Four straight wins have put me into promotion after a streak of draws. In the cup, absolutely destroyed someone with Mandzukic. All five goals in a 5-0 win and could have been more if I hadn't missed two clear chance near the end.
Played the final promotion game this morning. Were debuts for Jose Reina and Marc Bartra in my 442 team, replacing Consigli and Stobl. Reina's first two touches were a penalty save and a one on one save. Eventually won 1-0 so decent first appearance for him.

Already had promotion to Division 4 sorted, but needed one point from the last game for the title. Predictably was 3-0 down at half time somehow. The third was the dirtiest near post corner bs load of nonsense ever witnessed. There just seems to be some sort of AI failure if the ball is bit right into the near post. Unfortunately more and more people seem to be picking up on it.
It was still 3-0 after 77 minutes but then things just went mad. Mandzukic got two and Hernandez the other and seven minutes later it was 3-3 and title won.
Division 4 started with a loss and a win.

is it me or packs this year are a bit ok in terms of getting 84 85 rates players in tehm ?

tried a few more champions cup qualifiying rounds, could not do it : ) an old pal with less knowledge about glitches ....
kiiwi what have you got from the champions cup?

The 22 wins were mostly tough wins, but some of the losses were stupid/not deserved/dodgy/etc. So, all kinda balances out.

So ... Gold 2 = 2 Rare Mega packs and 1 gold rare pack + 45k in coins. Packs weren't amazing, but reckon there was about 45k worth of players & contracts & discards, etc. So 90k back from some stressful games ... no going to complain.

Some very mixed form yesterday. Failed to qualify for FUT champions once again, which is probably a blessing in disguise! Division 4 was also a very mixed bag, but managed to get the two points I needed from the final two games to survive this morning, with a 2-2 (16 shots to 3 in my favour), and a 4-2 win (4 shots to 15, not in my favour!) Standard FIFA 😁

Played only two last night, a draw (90th minute own goal  >:( ) and a win. Not very enjoyable opponents. The same one dimensional play as always: pick uop the ball, run to the other side, cut back...either hsoot or give pass to striker. And repeat this 20 times in a match....we call them 'runners'.

After the kid finished the Champions Cup games, I played some division games (solo). We were in D2 with 2 wins ... managed another 5 wins on the trot for a D2 title.

After playing a few Drafts - been a bit easy (co-op) to be honest - but, we have used IF Pogba for 2 of them & he's been "bloody brilliant"! The last team had 86-chem and we still walked the 4 games.

So ...

... "The things we do for our kids" ...

Sold off pretty much 90% of the club & welcomed this guy in last night:

I think a hat trick against Liverpool will suit me pretty well :P .Really though, this one we'll keep for Generations, etc. Certainly hope he doesn't do a "Milik" - that was pretty harsh for him!

@tws, "blessing in disguise" - loved that, i also could not qualify, and 2 kids with a wife non stop talking about her hate on fifa will not let me to play 40 anyway : )

seems like there is no use of silver players right - or bronze for that matter, i had a silver team i should be selling then...

Been a bit of a struggle for me. I have lost seven finals in the daily tournament, more than one by comical goals. Have probably also played more seasons in divisions than the whole of FIFA 16 already! Got up consecutively to division 4, apart from two tries in Division 8 I think in the first couple of days. Since reaching Division 4, I've got stuck there, winning a couple of times to save myself in the final match, having a shot at promotion in the final match a couple of times also. Having a couple of dead seasons where I held comfortably.
Managed to get relegated on Saturday though. Have been struggling really. Find it difficult to score consistently. So many games finish 0-0, 1-1 or 1-0 either way. Have altered my tactics a bit since the relegation. Trying to get more players in the box, rather than my 10-10-10 on the chance creation getting frustrated so often by the negative play. Seemed to work a bit as yesterday I walked division 5 and held in division 4 again, with only a couple of absolute BS games involving park the bus and rebounds to Remy making things more difficult.

Top scorer, assister and appearance maker has been Juan Mata at mostly false 9 so far. He has about 60 goals and and 30+ assists.

I managed to drag myself up to Division 3 after what seemed like an eternity in Division 4. After losing the first two matches, went unbeaten for the remaining eight games, with 4 wins and 4 draws.
Team has slowly evolved and changed but at present is this in a false 9:

PotM Son - Mata - Tello

Schweinsteiger - Borja Valero
IF N'Zonzi

Clichy - Mangala - Rami - Mario Gaspar

Diego Alves

Rami and Mata have been there since the start, as has N'Zonzi, although I have upgraded to his IF now. Will be changing Mata to Roberto Firmino as he has started to be slightly less effective in Division 4 due to his lack of strength. Gets bullied more now, although he has still been performing. Of course this will mean more changes, but pretty certain N'Zonzi stay.

Have used a number of players in a constantly changing cup/fitness team. At present I have a 4231 with IF Al Soma, IF Carlos Eduardo and IF Sule. That has been fun to use in the 5 games it has played. Al Soma is pretty good!

Good one mate.

For us, with some 'better' focus on D1, finally won it. I had a decent run the previous night (4-0-1), then won the first 2 of the night. The 2nd being (IMO) a damned good comeback. Down 2 goals to one of those that likes to slow it down and continually drag it back. Was worse when he went that 2nd goal up, trying to use up as much time as possible.

Just before HT though, goals through Eder & Candreva levelled it up. Could immediately see the urgency, but the funny thing is he never went off ultra defensive. When Firmino flicked it forward past his CB (still a bit wide though), he had plenty time to pass to Bergkamp just outside the box. Never a doubt as he smashed it bottom left corner, with 20 min to go. He still never went attacking. Was concerned with one corner - as it was cleared out, he never even had a man forward. Weird.

Kid joined me for the remaining games. Won the first comfortable, then only managed a draw in the next. Needing just a draw for the first D1 title, we gave the first team a fitness and romped home to a 4-1 easy win. Never in doubt ... :D.

Enjoying seasons probably a bit more than previous. It's not all try hards like last year - seems like people leave that for the Weekend League.

I have been doing the SBC lately and got some great pulls from packs like Bonucci, Higuain, Koscielny, etc. Bought some players too and made two teams in the web app. Than it took me 3 weeks before I had the nerf to run FIFA17 again  :P

Played 3 games last night and I made the promise with myself not to get mad anymore but take it on the chin. First game I get down pretty quickly and the second goal is a walk-in own goal of Bonucci. Right, 8 minutes under the way and 2-0 down. It is my serie A team and the debut of Higuain. So I keep on playing and make it to midway with 2 down. Than teh game starts and before I know it is it 3-0 and soon to be followed to 4-0. However, I was actually playing pretty well and I bring it back to 4-1 with Higuain soon to be followed by a Marchisio long shot 4-2. I miss an one-on-one so couldn't put the third one behind. Oh well. bad start in result but I must admit I liked the way I played and moreover, how my opponent played. Second game with BPL team. His Mertens (42 strength) pushes my Zouma ( 85 strength) from the ball  ::). Nothing has changed, 1-0 down. This guy watch all the replays, and with all I mean ALL. Even the misses, fouls, offside, etc. When he makes it 2-0 I put down the controller just to **** him off. When I return it is still 2-0 ...crazy how some people cannot score against the AI but against me no problem. That made me think...

Third game. Serie A again. Tight fight. I leave my defenders alone and hardly switch to them anymore. The auto tackle is ridiculous good. I don't get into trouble but I have hard time breaking him too. We both roll 4312 and the midfield is too dense. The class of Higuain brings me the winner.

All in all nice evening. A different mindset does help...

I've been bouncing endlessly between Division 3 and 4. Still to figure out my favourite formation and custom tactics. Had moved away from my 433(5) and 433(2). Had a bit of success with 4411 and 4231(2), but was starting to really struggle to score. Was getting to the stage where if I conceded, I would at best get a draw. This all came to a head last week where I couldn't win a game to save my life. Didn't win for 13 games or so, but turned it around with a bit of playing around with custom tactics, and a return to 433(5). Also have really started to enjoy my 4231 Al Soma team this week and it has got me to the weekend league for the first time. Key to my decent form recently has been that I have started to score more than one goal a game which makes things a bit easier. Starting with attacking mentality from kick off instead of balanced has helped. Seen stuff about balanced being very dodgy on the dark side. I'm not really sure but getting two big strong physical centre backs has also been a vast improvement. You can ease a weaker, much faster attacker off the ball so easily. It's a lot easier being in front by going for it early then playing catchup against a park the bus mass group of auto tackling, auto blocking defenders. For some reason attacking seems less prone to counter attack than balanced.

Have had mates from the US for the past few weeks, so not much playing. Dropped them off y'day morning at the airport & then got to play some games last night ...

Pretty much a new season in D1 after the kid lost the 1st game. Ups 'n downs ... win 1, lose 2, win 3. Won the last game of the season to end 5-1-4 and avoid relegation. Just the one laggy game, but other than that, good run and enjoyable. Still have the crap and/or funnies, but sometimes for me ...

Had to watch it all on that one, as he was a bit of a twat.

Liked this one by the new ('17 at least) addition - MVB:

Just cannot fathom this game.  Starting to think it is just me, and my inability to be consistent?

One session I am stroking the ball around, and sides cannot touch me, and then the next session I cannot score a goal, or buy a win.

Got to the brink of promotion to D6 for the first time on F17.
Needed one win from two games... we all know how this pans out...

Lost the first one from a winning position, in the 90th.
Went ahead in the second one 1-0, and was bossing it by half time.
Oppo spent half time messing with his team, then came out and slaughtered me in the second half.
Could not get out of my half, or retain the ball. HOW do they do that???
Managed to keep him out until the 89th and then drew 1-1... promotion failed.

Got relegated to D8 the next season, then to D9.

Ouch mate! This game can be brutal.

Last night with the monstrous OP team - win 7-1. The guy played (tried) till the end, but everywhere he turned (he was a bit too predictable) got the ball, broke away & scored. It was too easy & felt for the guy (only a bit). Win the next with the fitness team - which has the quite incredible SBC David Villa in there (7 in 8 with a few rage quits) - get an easy win.

Next game ... vs 3 atb noob Serie A team ... for the life of me could not get anything going. Obviously this game he had the 'supreme connection' & his players all over me and never got a chance to get going.

So ... for me it is random and it an even be the whole session goes like that. With it being 'in my head' too, I even exit the game, restart the console, take 5/10 minutes to 'reset myself'. Know it sounds weird, but I've seen it with the kid and the Weekend League. When that first loss happens, step away. This past weekend, he never lost 2 games in a row.

Good idea kiwi, shame I don't do it. When I get on a losing run I keep playing, senseless really.

The other point is to put on some music - different tempo for whatever mood - that seems to keep focused & not let it get to you.

2 weekends back, the kid finished wining the last 14 games. Afterwards he said he listened to the same song on repeat for pretty much 10 of those wins!

I am the same mate... spend all evening into the early hours chasing the change in fortune... the elusive win.
Then when I get it, think I have turned a corner, and so play another.... And get hammered by some nooby pressure nut...
Go to bed enraged...  ;D

Yes music does help.  Quite often play something fast... but actually that doesn't help.  Makes me sprint more... whereas my best game is played if there is no sprint button.
This is what I always forget... stop still on the ball, and the whole game slows down around you... Sprint and you just keep crashing into pressure all over the park.

As has happened the past 5 weeks, the will to play gets seriously zapped the first part of the week after two days of intense sweat on the weekend league! Did play three games yesterday though. As I have done the past few weeks, have entered the daily tournaments with some different teams. Yesterday it was Crouch at striker with IF Henri Lansbury and SBC Gareth Barry in the CDM spots.
Crouch is just weird to use. Feels like you are controlling an uncoordinated tree! Managed 2-0 and 3-0 wins with Crouch contributing a header from a corner and three assists.
Also played the final Division 4 game where a point was needed for promotion. After about 6 or 7 backing out due to my Jan 2011 club date, I finally had to play against a Beast FC. It ended 0-0 and promotion to Division 3.

So, on Tuesday night carried on and won the daily tournament first go with Crouch upfront on his own. 2-0, 3-0, 1-0 and 4-2 wins, Crouch getting two in the final.
The 1-0 win in the semi final where Gareth Barry got the winner was against an all out pace team. Felt good to totally out play his team and three substitutes, Musa, Giovinco and Walcott.

Guess I should post here a bit :D

Decided to give a run out to 3412. Built these little 2 monsters - deciding to use the untradeable Aguero & the Ibra card (bought in case - think he's leading the pack for POTM):

Yep - first one is uncharacteristically a 1-league team & normally has Firmino at CAM. Put Pogba in there for the last game of the season - needed a draw for the title. Ran out comfortable 4-1 winners with them. Must say that I'm kinda in love with the Ibra card. Just wow! The strength makes up for any pace deficiency - and some!

Regarding the defences - decided to go massively OP on both - plenty pace and DEF and PHY on all are huge! Was instrumental in winning the title.

Played a few games the past few days. Made a team with SBC De Jong up front and also put in SIF Milner and IF Schmeichel, both who I picked up very cheapily the first hour the TOTY was in packs on Monday. Also bought IF Sneijder at the same time to go behind De Jong.
I think in the five games I played in the cup with the team, De Jong had one shot (which he scored). He just never stayed upfront. Was never in the box at all. Half the time Jordy Clasie would be in the box with De Jong nowhere to be seen! Used him in the same formation and with the same instructions as SBC Gignac and IF Balotelli, who combined have got me just short of 150 goal and probably 80 assists. De Jong was not good!

Also got another promotion in Divisions. The guy I played had almost the highest possible rated Premier League team, but literally had 10 men camped in his box the whole game. If he got the ball, he just blindly hammered a through ball towards Aguero. Eventually broke through with El Shawaary and five minutes later on 75, SBC Giovinco added a second. Still 10 men camped. Why?!! I had the ball with my centre back and had one oppo player in my half even at 2-0. Wasn't difficult to stay in front.... I'll leave it at that!!!!

I'll try him some more next week hopefully if I can automatically qualify for the weekend league, which may be difficult as I have stuff on this weekend. He seemed to be out of position more than anyone I've used though.

so following on from my previous post about the quality of teams ive been facing this theme continued last night with a couple more games in div 2.   The standard of teams ive been facing is very high, certainly a class above mine.

First game was a good example, guy had Ibra and Messi up front.  His midfield was Roy Keane, Kante and cant mind if another legend or IF to complete the trio.  Even with a decent team its bloody hard to compete against these teams.   Did wonder if this is a glimpse of what to expect in the WL.    His forward line was completed by Martial of course ::)

I lost 5-2 but felt like a moral victory in some ways.   Some of his finishes were just too good.   Yet the stats said I had more shots, more on target and edged the possession too.   Basically to me, I was better, his team was the difference.  I suppose that's what you want, but even with a good team with some IFs, i'm not sure about facing these super teams so frequently.

Wonder if I missed the gravy train by not doing WL up till now.   Also wonder if the WL has increased the gulf between the haves and have nots akin to the gulf between top clubs in premiership and the rest.

The next game I played was similar, not quite as extreme he had SBC Buffon in goals, plus some others I think IF or SBC Dybala.   That one worked out well cos despite going 1-0 down despite dominating I managed to pull 2 late goals back to win it.

Eric, you can expect to see the generic BPL sweat with Musa, Vardy etc, but also some very good teams with the top talent.  All can be beaten, also all can tank you.  Its really a battle of nerve and who makes the least mistakes as they usually end up in a goal.

I have really started focusing in game on how the opponent is trying to play and using quick tactics to counter along with the mentality changes in going from ultra defensive when the 'momentum' is against you, to ultra attack to really press the advantage if you're on top. yeah some games can be walkover, but some are a real battle against your opponent and whatever the game mechanics throw at you.

One Final tip, never assume at 2-0 up the game is over especially when the commentator says that its an uncomfortable lead. Kiss of death  ;D

Last weekend I played a real decent opponent with a super team first match, with red Ibra at striker. After that it was the standard generic Premier League teams mostly. Nearly always the same team. A defence of Shaw, Bailly, Smalling, Walker with Butland behind. Kante will be in the midfield with Martial, Musa, Vardy, Mane or some combination of. You'll play that A LOT! When I went on a 10 match out of 11 win streak, the better players started to appear. Lots of red, high rated players, one with 8 in one team. More likely than not elite monthly players. Still don't think I faced a single Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar last weekend but the Smalling abd Kante's probably 3 or 4 games out if at the very least!

I see it from 2 perspectives - look, the kid is good - main thing is composure. First few WL's, he wasn't, and easily frustrated by teams going up a goal then going either PTB or very low defensive settings. Makes it an absolute pain to watch too. Now, I've seen him go down 20% of the times, he easily comes back and wins. This past weekend again - a 15-win streak and another 16-win streak. Stupidly he continued playing when he should have taken a break & lost the last 3 of 4 games - could have been another 38-2 weekend.

So, for me the "continue to play" attitude - either out of frustration to get a win or "just wanna finish" - that's a difficult one. In the back of your mind you have this "20-games-a-day for 2 days" mentality that sets. This is for you guys & what I see on the dark side - easier this side as it's Friday 8PM start which means the kid can get 5, sometimes 8 games out the way.

How you battle that fatigue, is an important one.

Then, with me playing the 2nd account, I have an incredibly low expectation as the team has some quality, but it certainly lacks big name players. Not wanting to spend too much on fitness cards, also makes it a case of using 2 teams which is a massive liability. You just cannot get the consistency that others have that are using 1 team. And you're right Eric (also Simmo you commented a few days back) - you find yourself losing to people that are not good. Simple. But, either the noobish OP players, or the monstrously expensive teams give them that advantage. At times I'm wishing I can bring over a few of the big guns from the main account - would easily guarantee a 2/3 wins (in the opening 10).

Ah ... this reminds me of another aspect that you need to consider. I see a lot of people saying that they are 9-1 and then find themselves at 10-10. How could that be??? Remember this is bound to happen - you pretty much going to play better people, the better your record is. Not better skill-wise, but better at winning! Frustrates me that you get to play these players that abuse the game in some way, scoring headers with Sterling & Giovinco ... ::) :D

Well ... no "FUT Champs" ... so headed off to Seasons in a long time. Post patch - 5 bars for latency ... first game = max 2 red bars ::).  Ok, try again ... similar story.

After 4/5 connection attempts, finally got a game to play. This was in D2 - think the kid had played previously - record was 4-0-3. WLW ... the loss was a disconnect from EA. Now this is getting quite tedious.

Played a few more after promotion ... Finished on 2-0-2, but there was a disconnect for one of my opponents - score was 0-0 so that was just a waste of time. I myself had ANOTHER disconnect ... Wow.

Seems like it's the general theme these days - how many games can you play before you get disconnected?!?! ::).

okay long post ahead.....  :o

After months I made my return into the FUT arena. I had around 700K in coins (did trade/SBC challenges and was a coupe of time lucky with a pull). So I cleaned the club, transferred around 250K to the youngest who plays every day and focused on two teams, Eredivisie (of course) and Serie A. Started to play last week with the teams (without any TOTS) and boy that was hard! I am in division 8 .... ::), but I had trouble defending against zig zag players, and even 'normal' playing gamers. I draw, lost, draw, lost, etc. 60% my own fault, I played like a noob. But being out there for a long time also opens your eyes on the problems the engine has. Very unfair game. And players that wander around in the field. I had my RW playing centre for no reason...

Although the result where unsatisfying, I started to play better and better, 92% passing accuracy is not bad of course but I am having troubles creating chances in the 4312 formation. A formation I played so long. Don't understand what I am doing wrong. The other formation I am using is 4231 (2) and I create more chances with this formation despite the fact that my striker sometimes feels isolated.

On Friday I invested my coins in eredivisie TOTS and a 84 rated El Shaarawy (don't know the name of that card). I played two more games, lost both but was playing much better, Especially defending went better. But.....due to all my losses I ended up with regulation to division 9....I feel NOOB now  :-\ but can care less  ;D. Last game I got a red card, my sliding was on the ball from the side. No idea what happened there. Lost 4-2 (2 balls bounced back from my keeper right in the feet of his striker...) But at least TOTS Elia and MOTM Traore scored on their debut  :D

Currently on business trip, but back in the saddle on Friday. Starting in division 9 and hoping on some better results.  :P

FUT champions is a long way, may be next year. But I will keep you updated on my struggle  :D

Good luck with that journey! ;D

No WL for me of course byt I finished my first season since months. After regelation I got promotion back to div 8 ( I know...) with 1 loss and 5 victories. Not bad.

Scored a very nice screamer with DeRossi. A celebration as this is the 6th year I am using him 😀

Two names for you guys:
Musa : seems to be in every  cheap BPL team. Lucky for me they always use him the same...

Butland: WTF? Brings back Cech memories. I have a very hard time scoring against him. He makes some saves....

84 rated El Sharaawy : amazing card!!!!

Up to a new run in div 8 😊

Butland has games where he makes Fifa 14 Cech look like a bronze! Can be unbeatable at times. The amount of weekend league games I've lost where I've had double figure shots on goal and the opponent score with their only one is at least double figures.

Just played a draft and won it for the first time ever. The new 98 Ronaldo scored six goals to win me the final. Also notable thing was that my keeper didn't save a single shot in four games! Results were 2-1, 2-1, 3-2 and 7-2. Never use Rulli with his grey tracksuit bottoms!
Packs weren't great. Made the coins back but little more than that.

Back down in div 3, played a good player this morning and he rightly beat me 2-1. Messaged him saying gg, and asked him how is he in div 3 (being very good n all).  Turned out he was in div 1 and got matched up with me. How??????

Talk About unfair. Maybe that explains some of the ridiculous results at times. I always put it down to a good player who casually plays seasons and is going up the divisions, not a regular div 1 player matched up against 'lower tier' opposition

1st crack at marquinios 2nd game in. Decent player. Go 2 up from 2 of the luckiest pen decisions. Messaged the guy at ht, saying sorry. 2nd half my players obviously had a few pints celebrating. 4 rapid fire goals later and I'm out.

Total feeling of inevitability.  Eaids... it's in the game  ???

Been like this in clubs for years once in Div 3 you are matched div 1 - 3 gives you a better chance of getting a game.

Been playing only a couple of days a week recently. Had a day off on Thursday so played a good few games. With Division 1 broken, I played single matches, which are absolutely horrendous. Really can be worse than the worst weekend league! Won a few, lost a few and quit out a few. Who wants to play full attribute card teams that pause at kick off at this stage?!

Had another session on Sunday. With divisions fixed, started another Division 1 season. First game was an easy 3-0 win, but the second was very interesting! Guy was playing some crazy high pressure stuff and I went into half time 1-0 down and with more shots on my goal than I had created. I managed to keep in the game and on 73 minutes, instead of a player torpedoing at me, the opponent kept backing off me, expecting a through ball probably. He let me come to within 25 yards so I just smashed it with IF Bale and it flew in.
Not long after I got a good bit of possession in his half and he started sliding like mad. The ball ended up out wide and I crossed it in and 91 Isco got in front of his player and headed it in. Fuse lit! The guy completely lost it! In the strongest Manchester accent he started going crazy. About daylight robbery and that I was a c##t ect. He started sliding constantly so I started passing it around him. A few balls wrong my defence and a few full pauses, just to listen at his complete loss of sanity! Tried to score at the very end to shush and maybe dab him and cause him to combust but I messed it up. Expected a lot of messages after the final whistle, but none came. Probably his controller and possibly console were probably in small pieces! Very pleasant guy.

After that made a couple of my teams with three random players chosen off Futheads randomiser. One team got Christian Eriksen, Alberto Aquilani and a Russian CDM, Yusupov. Made a nice little 433(5) team with the very slow defence of the Berezytskiy brothers!
The second team ended up as a 3421 which was the best to fit in Manolo Gabbiadini, the Argentine La Liga CB Roncaglia, and the Canadian CDM from the Turkish League, Attiba Hutchinson. Went for the Napoli version of Gabbiadini who gave a perfect link to my Futchamps Insigne.

My intention is to play a number of games with each team and keep a track of the scorers and assisters and figure out some sort of score system weighted towards the three random picks. That Eriksen has scored five and assisted three in the first two games with that team could mean I rack up a huge score!

Played two more games last night, one with each team. Won both and Eriksen is up to seven goals and four assists in just three games!

Have played 10 games with the two three random player teams and won every single one. Only been playing two maximum at a time. In the five games with 89 Eriksen at false 9, he scored 11 (with a minimum two per game) and assisted four. Also had fun with the 3421 team, absolutely tearing apart a full Brazil special card team in the final game.
Just waiting for next Tuesday and the year long grind and build up to getting as many coins together for TOTS again and the time when I can basically make whatever team I want! Same tactics as this year. Get as many discard IF/special cards as possible and use them until worth an inflated amount due to SBC's or upgrade hype or whatever. Also won't be selling anything worth discard at all, and hitting bronze 400 coin packs again constantly until next April, putting all duplicates into the bronze upgrade and keeping all other discard players until needed for sbc's or silver MCTOTS.

Kind of looking forward to it but it'll probably be a painful two months of getting destroyed regularly until everything clicks around late November/December sort of time. That's the usual at the start of every FIFA for me.
Not looking forward to Premier League cheap OP player squads constantly with whatever exploits work constantly though. At least until I work out how to deal with them!
