As my weekend shifts have finished again now, I went into Weekend League. Tried playing on Saturday but it was truly awful. Connection felt terrible and so delay so gave up at 4-3.
Tried again yesterday and connection was a lot smoother, as it always seems to be on a Sunday, but I was letting in some horrendous goals! So many random bounces and touches that you don't feel you can do anything about. In the last game I played, the opponent took my out in the penalty area for such a blatent penalty, that he stopped playing for a couple of seconds....... except it didn't even give a penalty, so he had to wake up and clear the ball. Luckily I was 2-0 up near the end so I just laughed!
Ended up 14-12, but had no mental energy left to carry on!

Managed to complete my 30 games. Was actually a decent weekend. None of the usual lag and button delay that often plagues FIFA for me.
4-2 soon became 4-6 and it was me playing badly more than anything. Went on a six game win streak after a short lunch break but after that followed three losses and I was 10-9. Got a few more wins, one where I came back from two behind in the second half of extra time, scoring the most unbelievable, "blatently scripted" (said my opponent!) unnatural rebound goal in the 120th minute and wining the shoot out.
Got to Gold 3 at 14-11 and decided to stop. Later on though, since the games hadn't been too bad, I thought way not attempt the 3 more wins for Gold 2. Lost the first two so it didn't look good, but responded by winning the next two. So one win for Gold 2 was needed from the last game.
I scored two very quick goals against an obviously already tilted opponent. Thought he was going to quit after 7 minutes when my second goal went in, but unfortunately he didn't and I then let in a ridiculous deflection and a penalty that I still don't know why it was given. Thought that was my chances done, but managed to get a third before half time. The opponent then completely lost the plot and he ended up rage quitting at 7-2 in the 64th minute. He was obviously not happy at what had happened in previous games I guess! Mkhitaryan ended that game with 5 assists and a goal, and star of the weekend prime Van Nistelrooy 4 goals. Van Nistelrooy scored pushing 40 goals this weekend league. Love him!

Will not be playing much the next couple of days, but when it's my days off on Wednesday and Thursday, I'll be firstly making sure I can stay in Division 5 rank 2 and Thursday scoring the Rivals goals I need for the weekly objectives. Also the patch on AI defending in due so probably a make or break week for Fifa 19.

There's a lot of absolute nonsense in Fifa 19, but going pack only and the servers actually being kind this weekend for once, meant it was my most enjoyable weekend league probably ever!

I've been full pack only since October hit. Have Wijnaldum still in one of my two main teams so really want to somehow pack that inform. Been unsuccessful from half the Bundesliga SBC's and the the flash SBCs so far.
In weekend league again and am 4-2 and have played some good stuff. The losses have been so u deserved. Think in those 6 games I have probably conceded 50% of the shots on my goal, and had well over double figure shots every time. Story of Fifa every year I guess!
24 games is unlikely tomorrow, but if I reach 11 wins fairly quickly, I'll be happy with that so that I can go again in a couple of weeks once work has calmed down!

They certainly don't do themselves any favours! The day they try and conduct a customer server, they make the biggest mess possible of the Icon SBC! And offend all of Slovakia!

I was working all weekend so didn't enter the weekend league. May try again next weekend.......

I got Almeida and Plea from my rewards. Also packed a load of walkouts yesterday. Naldo, Muller and Varane from Division Rivals and Icardi, Lewandowski and SIF Szezcny from various SBC, most League ones and the last one from Marquee Matchups.
Was quite ridiculous how EA messed up with that 3rd Icon SBC. So many people managed to get loads of 100k and 50k packs for pretty much free. Then when EA realised what was happening, they pulled the SBC leaving people that had part started it and some that had already submitted an icon, completely robbed.
They had to do something as it would have completely destroyed the market if left, but how they could put this up without seeing what would happen was laughable. They even managed to confuse Slovenia and Slovakia in marquee matchups. They really don't do themselves any favours. Stupidity every single year.

Turned things around on Sunday and made Gold 3 very comfortably. Gameplay was very much improved yesterday. The button delay of Saturday wasn't there and things were much more responsive so the enjoyment levels were therefore much higher! Reeled off 8 straight wins at the end of Saturday and start of Sunday to turn 5-10 into 13-10.
Took a couple of losses trying to get the 14th win, one in the 90th minute after completely dominating the game, not scoring with 15 shots, and my opponent scoring with his 2nd, and a penalty loss where I was 1-0 down after the AI for some reason decided my goalkeeper had fouled the striker early on. To make things worse, I went down to ten men before half time when I took out the opponent through frustration but in true FIFA fashion, I got the dodgiest 90 minute leveler, but couldn't find a winner.

Had the games to attempt to get to Gold 2, but more than happy to stop at Gold 3. Hopefully I get a red card or two on Thursday! My untradable prime Ruud van Nistelrooy performed extremely well, scoring most of my goals. Hopefully he could end up overtaking my almost 400 goals I got with Bergkamp last year!

Is anyone still playing?

I had no work this weekend so redeemed my weekend league qualification. Managed to go from 4-0 to 5-10. The game is an utter mess. Got back to 9-10 where I've left it for tomorrow but what has happen to this game is an abomination. Gameplay is shocking. One game I was losing 4-2 in the 118th minute but still won. What goes on is so obvious!

Oh and also have 3421 setup as my ultra attacking formation. It completely destroys defences! Have saved, won so many games by overwhelming defences with this late on in games

My enjoyment has gone up a bit the past week or so. True, there us some horrendous stuff in there and they do seem to be addressing it in the next patch. In 150 games though, I've yet to concede a near post bicycle kick. I think the way I have defended corners since FIFA 14 and practise at the amount of times people try it have helped.
What has helped me start enjoying myself has been the switch to 352. It's possible to pull apart the narrow high pressure teams and there always seem to be passing options. In the week and a half I've used it, only once have I been exposed on the wings and that was against a very good player in Weekend League, but the counter to that is to have a 4231(2) set up in your match plans.
Onto Weekend League, and I only had time to play seven games last weekend because of work but the opponents were no worse than what you would come up against during the week. The biggest problem was the button delay and lag, which at times was incredible. Managed to get to 4-3 and played against a really good player. Unfortunately haven't played enough to qualify this weekend when I'm not working but never mind. More time for Fortnite and Red Dead 2!

The biggest news though was my Division Rival rewards this morning. Switched on as I had a spare half hour before work and had earned Division 5 rank 2. Took the untradables as i'm doing pack only apart from occassional IF purchases, so that was two mega packs and two rare player 50k packs.

Mega pack 1 - Barzagli. Thought it was going to be Chiellini!

Mega Pack 2 - IF German CM (Eggesten?) and Leno

Rare Players Pack 1 - IF Pickford and Sokratis.

Rare Players Pack 2 - Ruud van Nistelrooy Prime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy!

Not bad because from the same rewards last week my best player was Toprak! Also my second icon of 19 after packing 87 Shearer a couple of weeks ago.

The whole thing is a mess. The refs are a joke, the tackles are a joke, the gameplay worse than anything in the new gen era. They've taken out the low driven as the most effective way and now it is the finesse shot from the edge of the box. Same crap every game, people trying to get the angle to do it. Without big changes the game will be dead even quicker than last year. At first I was enjoying the game but it is getting worse by the day. It's almost as bad as last year now, if not worse already.
Another thing is the servers are getting worse and worse. Button delay, passes going off with no relation to direction aimed or button input. Add this to non stop high pressure tactics that make the AI into machines, and it is unplayable at times.
I've not touched Weekend League yet, but doubt it can be any worse than Division Rivals which is basically Weekday League and no other mode to play at all. Didn't think it was possible for them to mess up this any more than previously but they have. Somehow.

I'm starting the dislike it more with every match I play. Started off decent fun, but now it is just getting horrible. And I haven't entered a weekend league yet. I suspect if I did, it would probably finish me off with this game. Not sure what has happened, if people just have learned the weaknesses in the match engine, if EA have tweaked things, but it's just not fun.

Just played a few games to get the OTW Italian guy through the weekly objectives. The game is getting worse every time I play it. Some of the goals I conceded beggared belief. There was one where I tackled the guy six times but he got it back everytime or just got it straight back with the tackled player and kept going. It is bordering on a joke how badly messed up manual defending is. Just seems that almost every goal involves a manual tackle by me taking a ludicrous bounce to the opponent whilst they just use the AI who make perfect tackles and perfect interceptions much much more often. I don't want to play like that. No way should it be more beneficial to not defend yourself. Game is a joke.

If it wasn't for this I'd be saying this is the best FUT in seven years, but EA want random bounce BS in the game for whatever reason sadly.

I don't hate it, but the standing tackles are abysmal and it just encourages people to just sprint around with a midfielder or striker whilst the AI defends for them. Manual defending results in some of the most ridiculous pinball stuff I've ever witnessed in Fifa, and that is some achievement by EA!

Despite not hating it, I've not played a match since last Thursday. Just don't have the urge to do it. FIFA 18 has cured me! Dare say I'll play a few games at some point this week, but just not bothered at all. Other games to play and RDR2 very close. I'd guess this is the least amount of games I've played on any Fifa after owning it for two weeks.

The higher up you go in the Divisions, the worse the gameplay gets. Didn't play, or want to play, enough to get to the weekend league, but I would guess it would be 4321, with all defenders and midfielders deep and on stay back, with three pacey forwards, probably Sane at LF, PotM Lucas at RF. They'll certainly always defend by only controlling the central CM, and when the AI steals possession, probably after closing down a dodgy first touch, they'll drive a pass forward in the direction of the front three and just try and through ball it to another attacker. Played a guy that did this all game yesterday. He finished with below 50% pass accuracy and 32% possession. I went 1-0 down after my standing tackle bounced perfectly for him, but luckily managed to get an 85th and 89th minute winner. Was a tragic match.

People are definitely learning how things work, and it'll be downhill from here as every match becomes exactly the same.

On a brighter note, an hour ago I completed the Tough hybrid SBC that gives the mega pack. Wasn't quite sure what an earth was happening as a silver looking board appeared. But then Shearer walked out! My first packed icon ever!

So, I caved in and bought it  ;D

Early thoughts are that standing tackling button is more broken than ever before! Despite that, the game is a million miles better than Fifa 18. It is hard to finish chances which is good. There does seem to be some skill involved. At times the ball does take some rather pinball type bounces off players, but I'm enjoying it despite only have a 1-2-3 win/draw/loss record so far.

What it will be like when all the typical meta teams arrive, and people actually know what they're doing to abuse the match engine I don't know. Also the usual first patch will be looming in the next week or so. At the moment it's promising and most fun I've had on Fifa since the first few days of release last year.
I imagine things will go downhill after this first week though.
