Won the KOTP Cup again beating an MLS side with the defence of AS Ashe, James, Opara and the quick RB. Was silly, had no time on the ball, but still managed to create a bit with my IF McBreen, IF Bridge, IF Sainsbury team. In the end won 1-0 when his keeper passed straight to Ibini-Isei in the box.

The next team I've made is just all out attack, but a bit too pacey for one of my teams, but at least there's no English pace usual suspects. Played one match with it and beat an SPL team 6-2.

Got my 3rd English pace team in a row and destroyed him. IF McBreen with 2 stunners and a IF Bridge header for me but it could have been way more. He had two shots and scored one with a cutback to Sinclair. These idiots are the only ones left playing it seems.

Played Dutty last night. It didn't go well.
Lost the 1st 2-1, his goals coming very early and very late in the 1st half, the 2nd goal a counter after I'd had a good chance to go ahead saved in the 45th minute, always the way. Felt I played pretty well but just couldn't get shots off, always a foot or a block in, got a bit frustrating. I had the better of the ball but Dutty had a couple more shots, even game and almost enjoyable.
Lost the 2nd 5-0. May as well not have bothered and I most definitely would've quit under usual circumstances. Started well and piled some early pressure on. Dutty got fwd for the 1st time after 5 min or so, put a cross in and Balanta headed in off the GK with IF McAusland in no mans land. 15min later, Balanta had added another 3 goals from varying thru balls I could do nothing about. Steadied the ship for a brief period and then someone else scored. Rest of the game followed the same pattern as the 1st.

Unlucky Cuz. I really enjoyed the first game. It was nip and tuck and your possession play had me soaking up a lot of pressure round the edge of the box. Game swung on that 45th minute goal. Seemed your back line was high, probably because of the pressure round the box; back line steps up, one hit and hope throughy and Thompson was one-on-one with the keeper. You had the goal of the game though, with Hanson making a nice run into the box to finish off a crisp passing move with a slide-rule finish ( :o)

So I had high hopes for the return leg, but it just turned into one of those games. Cuz had me on the ropes for about ten minutes, I probably had about 5% possession. First attack and Balanta free at the back stick to pop in a feeble header off the keeper.

The next 20 minutes were all Balanta. And I say that because I was thinking about the game after we'd played, and it probably highlighted the thing I find most irritating about UT:

From the first break and headed goal, for about 20 in-game minutes, it felt like (maybe because they'd soaked up pressure) my team had gone into some kind of glory/god-mode. The ball fell countless times to my players in the centre of the park, and I suddenly had multiple attacking options with players in acres of space.

Now you spend all this time looking at stats to make and personalize teams, only for them to crumble or become invincible through no fault of your own.

I don't know, it's hard to explain. It felt like the AI was in control of the game more than I was for the majority of that period; and not to talk for you Cuz, but from my side there were times I could see the AI make the Scottish RCB just give Balanta the 'after you, sir' with what looked like little you could do about it.

Excuse the long rant, but it kind of puts a lot of the things I found irritating about UT13 in a nutshell. Whatever it is that makes the game play this way sometimes (sliders, momentum), let's hope the code that causes it got excised while they were making all the changes for 14.

That sounds very similar to our first game. You were 4 up by half time I think and one of your wingers was destroying me.

A few differences for me but only one that's any good. Not as good as Kouli...

Osbourne looks a good card tho, could be useful again.

Did you draw that beard on Moffat on paint?

Hopefully they don't kill hybrids. Pretty much all I use in bronzes and golds as well come to think of it. Constant one league teams get so boring.
Just thought though, with singles matches back I'll be able to build some teams like last year. Teams with only Smith's, Johnson's and Jones' were three, and a team where the shortest player was 6'4 and he happened to have the giant throw trait!

Snow! That scuppered his plans. Of course his 40 yard shot deflects perfectly into the opposite corner my keeper is diving.
Of course every touch my players take are terrible and his perfect.
But a IF McBreen header and a bullet from Ibini-Isei and it's game over, despite his keeper saving about 15 shots, some of which were pretty much unstoppable normally.
The AI tried to screw me in the 90th minute when a lobbed through ball bounced over my keeper who then decided to attempt some weird slide tackle by himself and missed, but which ever 90 pace twat got the ball, Slew I think, put it in the side netting with his appalling weak foot. I'm not really sure, I was too busy laughing!

English pace team o'clock!

Lol, score in the 4th minute when my centre back decides to run forward by himself and then pass around the back. Steal it off him have a practically open goal, get slide tackled from behind, not even a foul. Yeah right ok. Good game this UT?

4312 is definitely the formation to beat 352 (for me anyway). Just beat one 10-0, he may have been pretty bad, but you always end up with the opposite side wide centre mid and fullback, if they're attacking, free on the edge or in the box. Winning 10-0 and Showumni only scored one!

TWS, can I get that team back before the app goes? I put those 4 Accrington boys up for100k over 3 days. Fancy a last fling with them after a few wins in the bronze cup last night.

I'll do it in a few minutes. Not at work today, got given the day off because there is literally nothing to be done!

EDIT - Done. Hopefully it worked ok, the laptop crashed after the first 4 players were offered. Think it's worked ok though.
A great team, thanks for letting me use them!

TWS 1 Dutty 0

Bit different to the first match that I lost 5-0! First half had corner after corner and eventually a half cleared one was smashed in from just outside the box by Kainz. Just couldn't score a second and in the final quarter thought Dutty was going to score but I survived to end the tournement with 7 wins, 5 draws and 6 loses giving me 26 points.
Really wish I'd started with 4312 and not 451. It's been fun though and lets do another on 14!

Same for Hop, Cuz, anyone else I still have games against.

Yep, will be on very soon!

Only one game to go for me now. Played Gladi and after his Akinde and Riegler for me traded 1st half goals from corners, it was super sub Saleh Bashar who won it harshly for me with a 90th minute goal.
