FUT '16 - In-game Stories
« on: September 18, 2015, 08:47:26 pm »
Guess it's time to start a separate thread for this one too.

Used about 4 hours of the last 7 remaining we have of the early access. It was a good evening, must say! In total played 9 games - alternating between seasons and Draft Mode. This time all games were online. In summary - 4 wins in D10 for the title but then a first game loss in D9.

Now, Draft Mode ... paid our 15k entry fee ... managed to win all 4 games - relatively easy actually (think it was 4-0, 4-1, 2-1 and 5-1). The prize was very interesting - 1 Mega Pack and 1 Jumbo Rare Players Pack (basically a 30k and 100k pack).

No high value players, but overall the mega pack included 3x squad fitnesses & a bunch of consumables. Quick sold the balance for 3k. Moutinho was the highest rated player in the players pack, with Caulker, Moreno, Djilobodji amongst them. Players sold for 8.6k and the discards were 8.6k. A return of around 20k.

The team - once again we were fortunate to use a front 3 of Konoplyanka - Ronaldo - Messi. Midfield was Ramsey - Matic - Rakitic with Gibbs - Jones - Rojo - Zuniga in front of Valdes. Ronaldo & Messi are once again fantastic. You can feel the dribbling, shooting, ball control, etc with them. But ... the surprise star was Matic. He's an absolute monster in the midfield. Strikes the ball well too so a great all-round midfielder! Going to see a lot of him I think!

Overall impressions of Draft Mode ... it's really, really good - it's a great addition, must say. Thankfully it costs 15k, so you're not going to be able to continue doing this all the time - I guess others won't be able to. Have read on the dark side that there the likes of very high-rated players are far too common. We've played twice, got Messi twice, Ronaldo once, Best too. One team we faced, had Giggs & Best. So, they definitely are common.

Maybe EA should change card weights. Might make things a little more interesting. As much as it sounds cool, I certainly wouldn't want the same players ALL the time.

What's it like in regards to high pressure? Reading stuff about the passing mechanics and that high pressure is just as bad, meaning you get no time to do anything. Guess it could be the fact that they haven't learnt how to play the new game yet, and it'll get easier.

Erm ... interesting one - didn't feel the pressure too bad. Must say that we played one guy who looked like he was decent, but after we went 2 goals up, out came the through-ball spamming. The lobbed through balls are far less effective! The keeper is out so quick too! He literally had no game plan after that. So yeah - definitely an adjustment is needed.

Actually, I had to tell the kid that we had to approach the game differently in our defensive approach, as our players are knackered at the end! 2 people controlling players always affects stamina, so need to be even more careful now. We simply cannot afford to keep sprinting for interceptions, or a quick close down.

Last one - not sure what the default tactics are, but when I went to edit, the default pressure was set to 65! I know the default in '15 is always 51.

Ah ... and that reminds me ... THE SETTINGS ARE REMEMBERED!!! Well, the language at least :D. I did drop the pressure down so will check when on again, if that one saved.

I do have one small negative though ... something that affects us co-op players. In the past you could get away with a quick 'continue' so people wouldn't know it was co-op. Some people hate playing against 2 people. Now it shows in the middle and is clear for someone to see, before continuing. Hope this doesn't impact us too much.

Final one on the passing ... it's got to be simple. I think you won't have an issue - seen your build-up play in vids. But, it will be something to get used to - obviously.

I loved '15 - must say. Loved the teams, we did well, bla bla ... I didn't want major changes. But, one of the things I hated, was the fact that people could simply start the game up and literally compete with you - at that 'highest level'.

This change is so good for the game though. Mentioned to someone else ... I think it's going to be very hard for some noobs to come into this game down the track, buy in a BPL / Serie A / Bundes OP team, and storm their way to D1, by abusing the OP aspects (or flaws). It will be difficult.

sounds promising Kiwi! I don't mind of a game is hard to get adjusted to, I rather prefer that (hence I like BF more than COD).

I think they have added so many Golds in order to change the card weights a bit so that it will take longer before everybody is using the same players.

I am expecting some funny games during the first couple of days of lobbers and runners not knowing what to do. Just can't help thinking a patch will arrive very quickly though and take things back to Fifa 15.2.

Got home from a client's site (around 3PM) and had a few games before the in-laws got here for dinner - yep, great timing :P.

First game the guy quit after Hernanes hit his 4th of the game (cracking driven FK from 39 yds) - bit before HT. Next game was a close one - good one too - which ended in a 2-2 draw and the final game in the 'afternoon session', resulted in a 1-3 loss.

After the in-laws left, had a few hours to play. Warmed up in Seasons first - 3 wins and a draw, scoring 14 whilst conceding 5. So much for low scoring games in UT this year :P.

Headed over to Draft mode, paid the 15k entry & boy, had some tough, tense games - bar 1. Good luck again with an IF Ronaldo team - pretty much chem for everybody bar the LB. First - had to come back from 0-2 down to a 62-chem team :o. Scored in the last 5-odd minutes for a 3-2 win. Next, thumped some idiot - had IF Ronaldo & Messi, Isco, 2 other IF's (CM/LB) - pretty strong team. But, true to form it was sprint & spam those LB+Y's ... so ineffective in this game now! 5-0 ... we had 59% possession.

Next - I had a bit of a brain implosion - got Ronaldo sent off :o. We concede, score, conceded again. Only around the 70th-odd minute, do we grab an equaliser and then put another 2 home via Candreva for a 4-2 win. Final game of the night, another dodgy 63-chem team. Very, very tight game - scored again in the last few minutes for a 1-0 win and another Draft win - 2 Gold packs & 2 Premium Player packs. Yielded approx 17-18k in quick sells & a few cards including Darmian (still selling for 7k).

In Draft mode, we have a record of 11-1 and online seasons we're 14-3-2 (well, the kid has had a few by himself).

Overall - boy this could easily be the best FIFA ever. Not quite sure what the OP issues/flaws are (and I'm pretty sure they will be found). It just feels SO good, when both people want to play. Yes - ridiculous at times with some passes - laughable though ;D. The kid even had a freshie today - I laughed, he did not :P.

FYI - our 2 teams - both 4231 (w/ CAM's) - have big guys up front - Diego Costa has 11 in 7 & Morata has 11 in 10.

Simply love it!

Did get a few games in last night only 6

done the offline draft on pro as i got a token in my deluxe pack,  5-1  & 6-1 in the first 2 handy rounds then got Juve and was 1 down by 8mins thought **** but got 3 quick goals and ended winning 7-1, bet PSG in the final 3-1 got 1 jumbo and 2 premium packs

Have to say really liked Cavani 11 goals in those four offline games

Switched to seasons for the last 2 lost first on 2-1 to a 70 odd chem team with 3 loan legands Carlos, Matthaus and Inzagi  :o

Won the second 7-1 Perotti getting 4 boy oh boy what a player, have to say not getting much out of my striker in the 3-4-2-1 more coming from the 2 wide forwards.

Did also play 6 games of clubs winning 5 drawing 1 leaving us near div 6  8) a long way to get back into the top 200 clubs like last year.

Had my first 6 games. Started in draft using my free token. Got to the semi final but lost to Aubameyang. My fault though, not running and lobs. Got nothing decent in the packs, but Atsu being fast and BPL went for over 2k. Would have been very annoyed to spend 15k, get to the semi and get what i got.
In the Gold Cup, won both games easily. As I expected, people still trying to lob and sprint straight through.

The seasons game however showed where the main problem i can see for this game will come from. Ridiculous high pressure, almost certainly has everyone set on aggressive interceptions. Was a bit stupid how his pacey wingers were able to kill the ball stone dead out of nowhere. Also spammed crosses like it was 14 again to Giroud. One i get better maybe it'll be easier, or will it be widespread and they get better at doing it?

Benat and Al Soma are the best two players so far. Benat scored a 30 yarder and 35 yard free kick in my last match. He also has excellent passes up his sleeve. Al Soma is like a budget Ibra. Destroyed the guys defence and grabbed a couple of decent strikes in the same match.

Yeah TWS - one game (could've been the last one of the Draft) the high pressure was insane. Was tricky not to get caught in possession, but it still feels like the it's not sustainable for the 90 minutes - or less effective in the last quarter of the match. Could quite possibly have been the reason why we got a late winner.

Come to think of it - there were a few of those. Almost like 'patience paid off' if the opponent is continuously sprinting all over the place. Probably does need to be looked at, e.g. high pressure = effectively continuous sprinting, so recovery should be slower?

Ah .. Free kicks - interesting you scored 2 in a game. Personally, I've took 2 yesterday - scored both. Both were driven - the long one from Hernanes and a 32-yd one with Ronaldo.

From memory, have only conceded 1 & did play against someone who probably had 3/4 of them from good positions. Fortunately he sucked at them hopelessly ballooning all of them.

Wonder if this is going to be a bit too easy to slot them home.
